Welcome to Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) in North Cyprus! Founded in 1979, Eastern Mediterranean University is the biggest state university in North Cyprus.

Eastern Mediterranean University offers government-supported special scholarship awards for prospective students.

Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School gives new students the opportunity to improve their English language skills before starting a graduate or master’s degree program. The program covers one semester or an academic year and at the end of the program, students are given the opportunity to receive an international Edexcel certificate.

Since 2011, master’s students studying at Eastern Mediterranean University have been given the unique opportunity to obtain two postgraduate diplomas simultaneously. Eastern Mediterranean University is an official overseas center for the University of Warwick WMG MSc Courses. EMU currently runs the WMG MSc courses in both Engineering Business Management and Supply Chain and Logistics Management programs. Students studying at the EMU Centre are fully registered as Warwick WMG students, and are awarded exactly the same degree as students studying in the UK. Every year, Eastern Mediterranean University’s International summer school offers a full range of courses and extra afternoon clubs to help increase language skills. The courses are offered in the university’s campus located 5 minutes from the beach and the activities usually take place in EMU’s recreational complex located near the sea.

During winter, spring and summer semesters, undergraduate and graduate students from different countries enrol for internship at EMU. Throughout Eastern Mediterranean University’s International Summer School, prominent teachers will surprise you with interesting classes, teaching equipment and a creative pedagogy.

Internship

International internship opportunities for master’s and undergraduate students are available.

The University also offers extra classes upon the demands of the student or the institution responsible for sending the student to Eastern Mediterranean University. A good example is the summer school International Law program organised in collaboration with the Siberian Federal University within the framework of the short-term courses offered during Summer 2014.

Accomodation

The wide infrastructure of the university includes on campus dormitories equipped with a laundry room, hairdresser, air-conditioned rooms, TV, Wi-Fi, and many more. Comfortable dormitories have two to four beds per room and are the right places to meet with students from different countries.

Activities

Each day of the International Summer School has its uniqueness and diversity. Participants are able to select from an array of entertainment activities based on their interests. Events of the International Summer School are intensively supervised by our assistants who ensure the safety the participants. The university’s recreational, private beach (EMU Beach Club) is located on one of the best beaches of not only Famagusta, but the whole of Northern Cyprus. The Beach club is equipped with an excellent infrastructure, wi-fi, a diving school, a swimming pool, a restaurant, a cocktail bar and a cafe. Free activities and entertainment programs of the International Summer School are available on our website.

Canteens & Cafeterias

The program and the fees of the International Summer School include three meals a day.

The menu consists of the best of Mediterranean cuisine with a taste of foreign gustatory habits. Meals on campus are extremely healthy: olives, fruits, vegetables, salads, soups, seafood and meat dishes are always on the menu. Eastern Mediterranean University Canteen and Cafeterias Unit consists of 16 cafeterias, 10 canteens, 11 snack rooms, and 9 snack kiosks.

Transportation

The only international airport, Ercan State Airport, is located near Nicosia, the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It is also possible to fly through Larnaca Airport. Both airports are only 40 minutes drive from Famagusta. Our International Summer school offers free pick-up services from /to the airport two times a week and our assistants warmly meet all summer school participants upon their arrival. If the day of arrival of the participant does not coincide with the free pick-up day, the university will help organize transportation.

All tours and trips during the summer school program are assured by our efficient, comfortable and dynamic transportation fleet.

Turkish Airlines is the official summer school partner and offers a 10% discount for economy class and a 15% discount for business class. Further information can be found at our website.

The Program includes: • Beach activities: Surfing, canoeing, open-air cinema, disco pool, boat trips, karaoke, beach soccer and volleyball, pool games • On campus sports activities: Gym, jogging, pilates, yoga, volleyball, basketball, soccer, table tennis • Dance clubs on campus and at the university’s beach club: Zumba, Latin, modern dance • Trips and tours: International Summer School has experienced assistants who guide participants during trips and tours. The destinations are Girne, the Walled City of Famagusta, Salamis Ruins, Karpaz Peninsula and more.

In standard dormitory 2 to 4 people share a room. The dorms are organized in blocks facilitating the accommodation of groups. Each block section is controlled by a guard and assistants who work on a special schedule during the summer program.

Private Dorm

Private dormitories have rooms that can accommodate up to three people. The buildings are comfortable and have an excellent structural plan. Private dorms are surrounded by wonderful landscape.

EMU Guest House

The Guest House is a perfect residential complex for groups wishing to have more privacy. Up to four people can share a room and the Guest House is convenient for family or academic group accommodation.

Students who wish to extend their stay are expected to pay extra daily fees which are: 50 USD – standard dorm 60 USD – private dorm 70 USD – EMU guest house Considering the welfare of the students, 3 meals per day included in the package price have also been included in fees for extra days. Parents and those wishing to attend EMU International Summer School without taking courses will receive 80 USD discount on fees specified for two-week courses.

Offering Pearson Edexcel assured programs with international recognition, Eastern Mediterranean University Summer School also provides the students the unique opportunity to receive an international EDEXCEL certificate, which may be obtained with additional charges.

Our Trips

Girne (Kyrenia) The city is situated on the northern coast of Cyprus. Girne is a beautiful harbour town and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Northern Cyprus. The city is backed by scenic hills and Besparmak Mountains.

Gazimağusa (Famagusta) Located on the southeast coast of Cyprus, Famagusta is a historical port city founded in the 3rd century B.C..

Famagusta’s famous Othello castle, the Gothic Cathedral of St. Nicholas, the Lusignan and Venetian ramparts, the monastery of St. Barnabas and the ruins of the ancient City of Salamis and Enkomi are the main attractions. The ancient part of the city is surrounded by the Venetian- Lusignan walls with bastions and a unique bridge

Karpaz Peninsula Located on the eastern part of the island, Karpaz Peninsula is the right place for nature lovers and secluded holidays. Its clean sandy stretching beaches merge with the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. A place to meet one of Cyprus’ symbols, the wild donkeys.
