EVENT GUIDE
WELCOME FROM THE MINISTER Queensland is proudly cementing its reputation as the Events Capital of Australia, and events like Bridge to Brisbane play a big part in that success. They bring visitors to our city, support local businesses, and showcase the very best of Brisbane. If you’re visiting for the event, I encourage you to stay a little longer, and experience everything our great state has to offer. As we look ahead to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, events like this help show the world why Queensland is Australia’s home of major events. Whether you’re running, walking, wheeling or cheering from the sidelines, I hope you enjoy the incredible atmosphere and take in the sights of our beautiful river city along the way. Thank you for being part of this special milestone event. Andrew Powell MP Minister for Environment and Tourism, Science & Innovation
WELCOME FROM THE LORD MAYOR For three decades, the Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks has brought people together to experience our city in a way few other events can. There is something truly special about seeing tens of thousands of people running and walking through Brisbane, taking in our most recognisable landmarks and enjoying the outdoor lifestyle that makes this Australia’s lifestyle capital. Bridge to Brisbane has become a much-loved fixture on our city’s events calendar and I’m delighted to welcome participants from across Brisbane, Queensland and beyond for this milestone year. Major community events like this deliver so much. They get people active, bring families and friends together, support local businesses and give visitors another great reason to experience our city. Bridge to Brisbane has also has a proud tradition of giving back. Each year, participants use the event to support charities and causes close to their hearts, showing the generosity and community spirit Brisbane is known for. We are proud to be a major sponsor of events like this that make our lifestyle even better and create more to see and do for residents and visitors. As our city grows and looks ahead to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, this event will remain an important part of showcasing Brisbane and bringing our community together. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with family and friends, raising money for a charity or simply soaking up the atmosphere, I encourage you to enjoy every moment. Congratulations to Events Management Queensland, the event’s partners, volunteers and everyone involved in delivering this milestone event. Most importantly, congratulations to every participant taking on the challenge. I hope you have a fantastic day. Adrian Schrinner Lord Mayor of Brisbane
Events Management Queensland acknowledge and pay respects to the traditional Aboriginal people of these lands and waters and all their descendants. We also acknowledge the many Aboriginal people from other regions, as well as Torres Strait and South Sea Islander people who now live in the local area and have made an important contribution to the community.
WELCOME FROM THE CEO OF EMQ Welcome to the 30th anniversary of the Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks. It is a privilege for Events Management Queensland to deliver this iconic event for the first time in such a significant milestone year, and we are incredibly excited to welcome you to the start line. For three decades, Bridge to Brisbane has brought Queenslanders together. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, taking on your first fun run, walking with family and friends, wheeling the course or raising funds for a cause close to your heart, everyone has their own reason for being part of this special event. That sense of community is what makes Bridge to Brisbane so unique. There are few experiences quite like joining thousands of people as Brisbane wakes up, making your way across the iconic Gateway Bridge and then celebrating together at the finish line. This year, we’re looking forward to making that experience even more memorable as we celebrate 30 years of the Bridge to Brisbane. We are proud to build on the event’s wonderful legacy while creating an exciting new chapter for its future. Most importantly, we want the Bridge to Brisbane to remain an event for everyone - one that inspires people to get active, brings our community together and continues to make a meaningful difference for charities across Queensland. An event of this scale would not be possible without the support of our partners, volunteers, stakeholders, emergency services and the many people working behind the scenes. In particular, I would like to acknowledge naming rights partners Transurban and Brooks, along with our entire partner family for their tremendous support. Thank you also to every person who has entered, fundraised, volunteered or supported someone taking part. You are the reason Bridge to Brisbane has become one of Queensland’s most loved community events. On behalf of everyone at Events Management Queensland, I hope you enjoy this year’s event, soak up the atmosphere and take a moment as you cross the finish line to celebrate what you have achieved. Whether this is your first Bridge to Brisbane or your 30th, we’re delighted to have you with us. Enjoy the experience and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday, 13 September. Ben Mannion Chief Executive Officer Events Management Queensland

LA ROCHE-POSAY 10KM PREVIEW LEADING CONTENDERS RETURN FOR BLOCKBUSTER 10KM
The 2026 La Roche-Posay 10km is shaping as a blockbuster battle, with eight of last year’s leading finishers returning to renew their pursuit of Queensland’s iconic event. The men’s field already features five of the top seven from 2025, headlined by defending champion Callum Davies. Davies returns determined to defend the title he claimed in a time of 30:01 last year, having subsequently lowered his 10km personal best to 29:30 on the Sunshine Coast recently. However, he will face a formidable group of challengers including 2026 Queensland Marathon Champion Alex Harvey (29:17 PB set in 2026), UK athlete Jordan Skelly (29:20 PB set in Melbourne this year) and Sebastian Asher (29:44 PB set in 2025). Tim Fisk adds further depth to the race as he returns to Brisbane looking to improve on his third-place finish from 2025. Fisk crossed the line in 30:13 last year and owns a 10km personal best of 29:27, setting up an intriguing battle between three leading contenders separated by just 10 seconds on personal-best performances. Ben Cook will be looking to improve on his fourth-place finish from 2025 while Harry Smithers and Kieren Perkins, who finished sixth and seventh respectively last year, further strengthen a high-quality field stacked with leading contenders. The women’s race is poised to be equally compelling, with 2025 runner-up Richelle Hill returning in search of her first Bridge to Brisbane crown, while third-place finisher last year Siobhan Sefton shapes as another leading contender for the title alongside four-time Olympian and 2024 Bridge to Brisbane winner Genevieve Gregson. Hill produced a personal-best 34:05 to finish second last year and arrives with outstanding multi-sport credentials, having been crowned the World Under-23 Triathlon Champion in 2025. Three-time race winner Cassie Fien will continue her remarkable association with the event after placing fourth in 2025. Fien claimed her Bridge to Brisbane victories in 2010, 2011 and 2016 and remains the fastest woman in the elite field on personal bests, courtesy of the 32:27 she recorded in Springvale in 2010. Alexandra Lyndon completes a formidable women’s line-up following a breakout performance at the 2026 Gold Coast T100. Lyndon won the T100 10km in a personal-best 33:28 and will now attempt to transfer that winning form to one of Queensland’s most prestigious road races. The Wheelchair 10km is set to feature a strong and diverse field, headlined by race favourite Tristan Orchard, who arrives in excellent form after finishing runner-up in the 2026 Gold Coast Wheelchair Marathon. Orchard will be joined by Antoine Sandoz, another athlete with strong recent Gold Coast form, having finished third in the Wheelchair 10km and runner-up in the Wheelchair 5km at the 2026 ASICS Gold Coast Marathon. Adding another dimension to the field will be wheelchair rugby league players Dan Scott and Chris Robson, who will swap the rugby league court for the streets of Brisbane. Scott has represented the Wheel Kiwis, while Robson has represented Queensland in wheelchair rugby league.

DAVIES OUT TO ENJOY THE MOMENT IN TITLE DEFENCE Enjoying the moment is the mantra for last year’s Bridge to Brisbane winner Callum Davies as he chases back-to-back wins in the 30th anniversary Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks. Davies will return to the start line on Sunday, September 13 looking to defend the 10km crown he claimed in thrilling fashion last year. The 27-year-old prevailed in one of the closest finishes in the event’s history, stopping the clock at 30:01 minutes to edge Australian Olympian Ryan Gregson by just one second. After going stride-for-stride with Gregson over the closing stages, Davies found enough in the final metres to secure his first Bridge to Brisbane victory, with Tim Fisk a further 11 seconds back in third. While another victory is firmly in his sights, Davies said his focus in the lead-up was as much about arriving at the start line healthy and enjoying the occasion as it was about the result. “I like to get to the race nice and healthy and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Davies, who heads into this year’s race in hot form after claiming victory in the 10km at the recent Sunshine Coast Marathon Festival. “I think that’s a big thing. Sometimes if you train a little bit too hard leading in or get too nervous about the event, you can’t really enjoy it. I think the best way to run fast and to beat your goals is to really look forward to an event and enjoy it as much as possible, enjoy the moment.” It is an approach particularly suited to the Bridge to Brisbane, with Davies believing the sheer scale of the event and the thousands of different goals being chased on the same morning sets it apart from a traditional road race. “The best thing about the Bridge to Brisbane is just the amount of people who are out there chasing a similar goal,” Davies said. “This event feels like it’s this big goal that Brisbane is all coming together for. Whether you’re trying to run under 40 minutes, whether you’re trying to run the whole thing or under an hour, it doesn’t really matter. Everyone’s purpose is to be out in the sun, enjoying Brisbane and just having a great morning.” That atmosphere will be amplified for the milestone 30th anniversary, with entertainment again spread throughout the course to provide a soundtrack for participants as they make their way towards the finish. Even at the pointy end of the field, Davies admits the entertainment is difficult to ignore. “It’s fantastic,” Davies said. “The first time I did it, there was a choir in the tunnel before the ICB and it was great. It made me laugh and I remember saying to myself, ‘I can’t laugh, I’m eight kilometres in.’ “It was fantastic.” Now Davies is hoping he can soak up the atmosphere again while also becoming the latest athlete to etch his name into the Bridge to Brisbane history with consecutive 10km victories.

RBWH FOUNDATION BLUE RUN 5KM PREVIEW HISTORY POISED TO REPEAT IN RBWH FOUNDATION BLUE RUN 5KM BATTLE
Some familiar faces will return to the start line for this year’s Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks RBWH Foundation Blue Run 5km, with both defending champions and several of last year’s leading finishers confirmed for the 5km event. Jaxon Paterson-Wright and Brielle Erbacher will attempt to successfully defend the men’s and women’s crowns they claimed last year, while several leading contenders return hoping to reverse the 2025 finishing order. Paterson-Wright produced a 14:25 performance to win last year’s men’s race and has since continued his strong form by claiming the 2026 Toowoomba Mile which also doubled as the Queensland Road Mile Championships. With a 5km personal best of 14:16, the Queenslander will return as the runner to beat, but faces three highly credentialled rivals who finished close behind him 12 months ago. Second placed Kaiyan Blue (14:26) and third-place finisher Timothy Hogno are back with the later recording a personal-best 14:32 on the Bridge to Brisbane course in 2025. Hogno has also enjoyed considerable success at the Toowoomba Running Festival, winning the 5km in 2024 before stepping up to claim the 10km title in 2025. Fourth-place finisher Ben Drew is also back, meaning the first four men across the line in 2025 will again feature in this year’s Blue Run. Drew owns the fastest personal best in the men’s elite field, having run 14:07 in Boston in 2024, and returns with genuine aspirations of challenging for the title. Erbacher will lead the women’s field after winning the 2025 race in a personal-best 16:11. Before winning last year’s Bridge to Brisbane 5km, she completed a memorable double in Toowoomba in 2025 by claiming victories in both the Mile and 10km events. Her return provides another strong link between last year’s race and this year’s edition, with the defending champion aiming to again produce her best on one of Brisbane’s biggest running stages. Toowoomba Mile winner Sayla Donnelley (17:02, Gold Coast 2023) looks to continue her strong recent form while Mackenzi Schefe will take her place in the elite field after recording an 18:16 personal best on the Gold Coast in 2026, while fellow Queenslander Elke McAuley enters with a personal-best time of 18:28, also achieved on the Gold Coast this year. While the RBWH Foundation Blue Run 5km attracts participants of all ages and abilities, the quality at the front of the field promises to deliver an exciting contest as the leading runners race towards the finish line.

LA ROCHE-POSAY 10KM PACERS The B2B Pacers assist participants to achieve their time goals in the La Roche-Posay 10km and RBWH Foundation Blue Run 5km Run. Pacers are experienced runners who aim to maintain an even pace throughout the race with the goal to have you finishing slightly faster (30 seconds or so) than your goal time. For easy visibility, the pace runners will be wearing a flag with the goal time high amongst the starting runners. Each pacer will also wear a singlet with the goal time marked on the back. It’s important to know the start zone your pacer will be in and ensure you choose the same start zone when you enter so you can start the race near your pacer.

FAMILY MEMORIES THE DRIVING FORCE FOR FIEN For three-time race winner Cassie Fien, the iconic Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks is more than just a fun run. And it’s not necessarily her three victories in the event that have created such a lasting affinity with one of Brisbane’s most celebrated community events. For Fien, the connection stretches all the way back to her first Bridge to Brisbane as a 13-year-old and a cherished memory with her late father that remains just as vivid today. “I think for me, Bridge to Brisbane presented really has a special place in my heart,” Fien said. “I did it for the first time when I was 13 years old. I came second that year and I remember my dad was on the start line keeping me nice and warm before the gun went off.” “When I crossed the line, the media asked me where my parents were and I told them dad was still running and mum was still home in bed, and that got a bit of a laugh. Unfortunately, 11 days later my dad was killed in an accident while riding home from work, so that was probably the last happy memory of my dad. I can still just remember him embracing me on the start line.” It is a memory that has remained with Fien throughout a decorated running career and has helped draw her back to the Bridge to Brisbane year after year. Now 40, Fien will return in 2026 hoping to create another special memory by claiming a fourth victory as the event celebrates its landmark 30th anniversary. And she will arrive at the start line in strong form. Fien’s preparation has been building nicely, with victory in the half marathon at the Brisbane Running Festival in June followed by another win over the distance at the Hervey Bay Half Marathon. “My training has been ticking along this year, which has been really good, and I’m really excited that the Bridge to Brisbane is here for another year, I’m fighting fit and ready to go.” Fien said. While Fien will again be among the leading contenders at the front of the field, she says it is the unique atmosphere surrounding the Bridge to Brisbane that continues to make the event special. Among her favourite features is the Underground Opera, whose performances inside the Inner City Bypass tunnel have become an iconic part of the course. “The opera singers in the tunnel are iconic,” Fien said. “It is incredible, the acoustics as you run through that tunnel. It’s sort of near the end, so it gives you that boost just to embrace everything and everyone around you. It really sparks you on to get the best out of yourself for that last little bit.” For Fien, that journey towards the finish line will once again carry a significance extending well beyond the result.

ENHANCED ENTERTAINMENT OFFERING AS COMMERCIAL PARTNERS RACE TO BE PART OF 30TH ANNIVERSARY BRIDGE TO BRISBANE Participants and spectators will be treated to more entertainment and on course activations than ever before at this year’s 30th anniversary Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks, courtesy of an enhanced commercial partnership program. From performances by the iconic Underground Opera to DJs, bands, games, competitions and giveaways at the Finish Village, a record number of leading brands will be joining long-term supporters to activate as part of the milestone event on Sunday, 13 September. In its first year being delivered by Events Management Queensland (EMQ), Transurban continues its longstanding association as naming rights partner and will be bringing plenty of fun to the event with the Underground Opera, Franky Smart Truck Band, a photo opportunity and face painting at the Finish Village. Transurban will also create a sea of green on course, with a large running team of 400 entered for the race.Transurban General Manager for Queensland Theuns Lloyd said, “Bridge to Brisbane is one of those special events our team looks forward to every year, when some of the City’s busiest roads are transformed into Queensland’s biggest fun run. Seeing tens of thousands of participants of all ages cross the Gateway Bridge, enjoy live entertainment along the course and celebrate together creates an atmosphere unlike anything else on Brisbane’s event calendar.” Global running brand Brooks has upgraded its support of this year’s event by joining as Presenting Partner and will have a presence throughout the event including cross-promotional activations with fellow partners Brisbane BMW and The Athletes Foot. Racegoers can win a BMW for the weekend by guessing how many pairs of Brooks shoes will fit into the boot of a BMW, while The Athletes Foot will be looking for the fastest 400m sector of the race with prizes to the fastest runners. “Brooks has been a major partner of the Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks for 25 years and we’re thrilled to extend our involvement as a presenting partner for this year’s 30th anniversary celebrations,” said Brooks Retail Marketing Manager Pip Kirkwood. “We want to help support runners ranging from first time participants to the avid runner and we are excited to be joining forces with other partners to deliver activations across the event.” Skincare brand La Roche-Posay will celebrate securing naming rights to the iconic 10km race with sunscreen stations, photo opportunities and chill out zones, while LSKD will be activating with a heat pressing vinyl station. The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Foundation is helping to raise awareness of men’s health and prostate cancer as proud sponsor and Gold Charity Partner of the “Blue Run 5km” - encouraging people to dress up in blue superhero outfits as well as setting up designated stations for spectators to make cheer signs and take photos. Participants and spectators can enjoy product samples from Dr Hydrate, Cocobella and Red Bull while Nu Pure will provide water in the VIP areas and hydrating event volunteers. Nova and Brisbane Festival will be adding to the entertainment offering with DJs and other special performances, while participants will have their chance to be seen on Channel 7 with live crosses and coverage on Sunrise throughout race morning. Those hanging out for a Sunday morning coffee will be catered for by Fonzie Abbott who will also have retail beans on offer, while The Sunday Mail will be distributing papers in the event precinct. Brisbane City Council will deliver free lawn games and activities in the Finish Village as part of the organisation’s Move Well Brisbane program while Hotel Indigo will run a golf simulator. EMQ CEO Ben Mannion said the increased commercial support reflected the momentum building around Bridge to Brisbane in its milestone year. “We have been incredibly encouraged by the response from the corporate community and the number of leading brands that want to be part of Bridge to Brisbane as we celebrate its 30th anniversary,” Mr Mannion said. “Transurban has played an enormous role in the event over many years and we’re delighted to build on that foundation with Brooks coming on board as our Presenting Partner, together with La Roche-Posay, RBWH Foundation and our growing group of event partners. “Bridge to Brisbane provides a unique opportunity for brands to engage directly with tens of thousands of Queenslanders through an event that is centred around health, participation, community and giving back. “We want our partners to be much more than logos associated with the event. We want to work with brands that can enhance the participant experience, engage with the community and become part of the Bridge to Brisbane story. The growth of the commercial program is another important step in the evolution of the event and gives us an even stronger platform to continue building Bridge to Brisbane in the years ahead.” The increased commercial support comes amid strong demand for the 2026 event, with organisers targeting a sell-out field of 40,000 participants for the 30th anniversary. More than 38,000 runners, walkers and wheelies took part in 2025, while participants raised $1.1 million for hundreds of charities.

TRUE BLUE PUSH TO RAISE AWARENESS OF PROSTATE CANCER The Brisbane researcher behind a groundbreaking at-home urine test for prostate cancer, Dr Kevin Koo, is heading up the RBWH Foundation Blue Run 5km Foundation team on Sunday 13 September, to raise awareness of the second most commonly diagnosed male cancer. The RBWH Foundation, a long-time supporter of prostate cancer research, is the Gold Charity Partner of the 2026 Transurban Bridge to Brisbane presented by Brooks and naming partner of the inaugural RBWH Foundation Blue Run 5km. In training for his 40th marathon, later this year, Dr Koo is no stranger to going the distance for men’s health. “As researchers, I think we sit down way too much during work, so running is a great form of activity,” said Dr Koo. “It’s just you, a pair of trainers, feet on the ground and moving. You can go on autopilot and think things over, so I think it’s great both mentally and physically.” The RBWH Foundation Blue Run 5km is promoting men’s health, with an emphasis on early and regular testing for prostate cancer. Whether you run, walk or wheel, every step is an opportunity to start a conversation, raise awareness and make a difference. Dr Koo said the RBWH Foundation Blue Run 5km was an amazing awareness cause with a potentially life-saving outcomes. “There are many different types of prostate cancer, which makes it a very complex disease for clinicians to treat,” said Dr Koo. “It can be a very slow-growing, benign disease, or it can be a very aggressive, fast spreading type that can take your life within months. The earlier you catch it, the better the outcome.” With RBWH Foundation support, Dr Koo’s portable urine testing device is moving closer to transforming prostate cancer detection. Related findings from a multi-year clinical study were published earlier this year, showcasing the proof-of-concept prototype being tested on hundreds of patient samples. When further validated, this technology could be used for more accurate and accessible prostate cancer detection. “The benefit of our testing technology is that it can be operated wirelessly by a generic smartphone which makes it very convenient for patients, and especially easy for clinicians to obtain quick prostate cancer test results within hours,” said Dr Koo. Join Team RBWH Foundation, raise vital funds and take your place on the start line for a cause that matters: our blokes!

30 YEARS OF HISTORY NEARLY 30 YEARS OF THE TRANSURBAN BRIDGE TO BRISBANE PRESENTED BY BROOKS … AND STILL GOING STRONG!
What started as a local community fun run has grown into one of Queensland’s most iconic mass participation events.
Today, tens of thousands of participants take to the streets each year, celebrating movement, community and everything that makes Brisbane such a great place to live. From seasoned runners chasing a personal best to families walking together for fun, Bridge to Brisbane is truly an event for everyone. For many, it’s also an opportunity to give back, with participants raising funds and awareness for charities close to their hearts.
WHEN WAS THE FIRST RACE?
View of the finish area of the Bridge to Bay fun run – Elanora Park, Wynnum. Photo taken by Mark/Cranitch on 3rd August 1997.
The very first event kicked off in August 1997, with around 5000 participants. Originally known as Bridge to Bay, the course ran from the Gateway Bridge to the bayside at Manly, giving participants the unique opportunity to run across one of Brisbane’s most recognisable landmarks.
WHO WAS THE FIRST WINNER?
The inaugural race was won by Brisbane local Pat Carroll, who went on to win the first three editions. The first women’s winner was former Olympian Carolyn Schuwalow, highlighting the strong calibre of athletes the event attracted from the very beginning. Here’s a fun fact, did you know the yellow figure in the Bridge to Brisbane is an illustration of Pat victoriously finishing the race back in 1997?

HOW HAS THE COURSE CHANGED OVER TIME?
Our course hasn’t always taken in the same sights as it does today! When we were the Bridge to Bay, we started on the Gateway Bridge and headed east towards the bayside suburb of Manly. The Gateway Bridge remained the starting point for many years, but the finish line changed a few times – our name change to Bridge to Brisbane saw the route finish at New Farm Park, before settling on the Brisbane Showgrounds in 2008. After eight events encompassing this route, 2016 marked the arrival of two brand new courses, created to encompass more of Brisbane than ever before.
The Bridge to Brisbane used to start at the Gateway Bridge. Photo taken by Drew Fitzgibbon, 5th August 2007.
The 10km course started at Roma Street Parklands and crosses three of Brisbane’s iconic bridges – the Go Between Bridge, the Victoria Bridge and the Story Bridge – and the 5km started at the beautiful Captain Burke Park, crossing the Story Bridge twice. Both courses finished in the South Bank Parklands where participants enjoyed a morning of fun and relaxation with friends and family post-race. Today, the event once again features the iconic Gateway Bridge, reconnecting with its roots while delivering a uniquely Brisbane experience.
WHY DO PEOPLE CONTINUE TO RACE?

From the very beginning, Bridge to Brisbane has been much more than just a run. You don’t need to be an elite athlete to enjoy our event - Bridge to Brisbane is all about celebrating the very best of Brisbane, while appreciating being healthy and active. Elite runners, joggers and casual walkers can all take and have an equally enjoyable experience. It’s also a chance to give back to the community - participants are encouraged to raise money for a charity of their choice.
