Prosperity
The Prosperity pillar is the centerpiece of ETV’s mission. The goal is to accelerate economic empowerment through Black Excellence in Entrepreneurship, Employment and Education. Many of ETVs signature national and regional initiatives work to unlock vast opportunities and lay the foundation to build generational wealth!

ETV's Village Empowerment Network (VEN) provides Black entrepreneurs, individuals, and families with the expertise and connections they need to thrive. Through this program, Black business owners receive free one-on-one strategy, planning, and technical counseling funded by ETV, as well as training from experts to grow revenue, access funding, develop marketing plans, protect assets, and more! ETV piloted VEN in 2022, enlisting 21 businesses owners across the country, in an effort to bolster the success of small businesses and increase prosperity in the Black community.
August is National Black Business Month. Using its Village Black Pages directories as a resource, ETV highlighted Black-owned businesses in New Jersey, Martha’s Vineyard, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, and other states as part of a dynamic, month-long social media campaign, and the "Village" took notice! Coming to a Village near you in 2023!

In 2022, ETV exceeded expectations and was able to publish directories for all 25 states in the ETV Phase One Strategy, expanding the number of free listings to over 30,000 businesses!

As a data-driven organization, ETV relies on research to drive the development of mission-critical programs. In 2022, the organization's leadership leveraged the demographic data it compiled to develop a county-based strategy within states where large populations of Black Americans reside. This created an efficient and effective outreach plan for the implementation of key initiatives. The team also began work on the plan for ETV's inaugural Empowerment Expo, an event focused on supporting local Black-owned businesses, and developed the Village Ventures Business Pitch Competition™ to be launched in 2023.

In March, ETV CEO & Founder Ayo Sanderson Wilson presented to members of the Morristown Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and their guests, sharing Information about the history and data related to Black Economic Prosperity and Entrepreneurship in America at their "Power of the Purse" event hosted at Black-owned restaurant, Asahda’s Soulfood in Chatham, NJ.

Harriet Tubman led the way to freedomfollowingtheNorthStar, and our entrepreneurs are doing the same exact thing. They are leading us to a different kind of freedom. True freedom, which is economic empowerment andprosperity.

Peace
Under its Peace pillar, ETV champions programs that support community health and wellness, foster cultural pride and selfconfidence, promote a growth mindset and enhance the quality of life of Black Americans through educational, health and art-focused activities and initiatives.

This pillar currently has a greater NJ-metro footprint focused on improving the mental health and overall wellbeing of the Black community. Several of ETV's programs aim to raise awareness of mental health and other concerns, educate the community and address affordable access to care.
In January of 2022, ETV, in collaboration with Atlantic Health, distributed over 600 at-home COVID-19 tests and hosted a vaccination clinic with ZuFall Health! Special shoutout to our community partners, Church of God in Christ, Calvary Baptist Church, Bethel Church of Morristown, Homeless Solutions, Trinity & St Philip’s Cathedral, and Epiphany and Christ Church for helping us distribute these tests to their communities!

In February 2022, ETV co-hosted an educational panel on the vestiges of Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, during which ETV's Founder, Ayo Sanderson Wilson, and other panelists explored the detrimental impacts of certain U.S. policies and actions throughout history that have shaped the state of the Black economy today. She offered solutions on accelerating positive change through accurately reframing the narrative, leaning into a growth mindset and taking economic-based action.

The annual Juneteenth Art Show has quickly become a cultural touchstone in and around Montclair. MAM is honored to partner with Empower The Village on this highly anticipated event showcasing outstanding Blackartistryandfosteringbroadcommunity engagement.

Power
The Power pillar was designed to increase Black voter engagement, encourage Black excellence in leadership, and address policy-related issues in the areas of economic empowerment, health, and education impacting the Black community across the country.
ETV’s nonpartisan voter education and mobilization program, launched in 2020 and continued in 2022, was implemented to inform Black voters in key strategic states how and where to vote safely, unimpeded by the vestiges of systemic racism and abuse. Operation: Ballot Box was replete with the most accurate voter information, including early voting and drop box location detailsdown to the county and municipal levels - as well as voter ID requirements.
2022 was a pivotal election year, and ETV identified 14 strategic states where Black voter turnout was imperative, compiled the data, and disseminated the information among “the Village” ahead of the elections. ETV also profiled US senatorial and gubernatorial candidates of both major parties to educate the electorate, spotlighting them in their newsletters and posting them on their various social media platforms.

-CraigMacKay,MuBoulé, SigmaPiPhiFraternity,Inc.ETV has demonstrated a consistent track record of excellence and effectiveness in all their programs. The ChurchofGodinChristinMorristownhasbeenproudto partner with them on COVID education and vaccine events in underserved communities, as well as to help increase voter education and engagement through their OperationBallotBoxinitiative.

ETV will launch this workforce development program to provide small Black-owned businesses with the capacity to create jobs and hire employees or interns from the community. Research indicates that 95% of Blackowned businesses are sole proprietorships, yet revenues dramatically increase with the addition of even one employee! ETV will raise money to subsidize all or a portion of employee or intern compensation short-term to tackle unemployment and foster a reciprocal relationship benefiting businesses hiring and community members seeking work. This is a win-win for those who will gain the much-needed income and experience to help propel them toward stable employment and businesses that need more hands on deck to thrive.

ETV is developing this platform to provide the Black community with access to free and affordable mental health services, and connection to Black psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, social workers and other wellness professionals. ETV is committed to helping eradicate the stigma and financial barriers to seeking mental health services, which are challenges impacting large swaths of the Black community. Culturally competent professionals are critical to ensuring successful outcomes for Black adults and youth seeking to improve their emotional health and well-being

Village on the Vineyard

The beautiful island getaway of Martha’s Vineyard was an ideal backdrop for ETV to showcase their economic and community empowerment programs and initiatives in a tranquil setting at Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs. ETV hosted old and new friends, who relished the delicious lunch buffet, and contributed to a lively discussion about meaningful ways in which ETV and “the Village” may continue to collaborate and help restore Prosperity, Peace & Power to the Black Community.
Donor Appreciation Reception

CEO Ayo Sanderson Wilson and her team chose a crisp autumn evening in October to warmly express their sincere gratitude to the scores of supporters who helped make 2022 a banner year ETV presented a powerful Impact Report highlighting the numerous achievements the organization has garnered - made possible by the people assembled at the reception and countless othersand premiered a video featuring the data driving the mission and ETV's Prosperity programs. Attendees enjoyed delicious food and beverages, and went home with a special “golden” token of ETV’s appreciation.

PowerSwingClassic& NorthStarEmpowermentCelebration

Fore! . . . Yet another ETV hole-in-one! In 2022, ETV established its second signature fundraising event, the inaugural Power Swing Classic & North Star Empowerment Celebration. Economic empowerment and Black excellence in entrepreneurship were in full swing last August when ETV hosted over 150 golfers, members-for-a-day, and diners basking in the late-summer heat at the famed Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club in Bedminster, NJ. With support from nearly two dozen sponsors, ETV held a successful golf outing and capped off the day honoring legacy and emerging businesses at the North Star Celebration and awards dinner. We at Katten were delighted with the turnout and outcome of ETV’s inaugural Power Swing Classic, and are confident that each annual event is going to be more successful than the last. We wish ETV continued success in its endeavors, and value our partnership with such an essential organization for theempowermentoftheBlackcommunity
