Plaid was a big deal for Fall and winter 2018, as the various types made their way down the runway in every form. From coats to blouses, pants to skirts, every garment was saturated. This trend will see a trickle into the spring and summer seasons as the plaid catches on with lower tier fashionistas. Plaid is another word for tartan which is used mostly in association with Scotland but the basic crisscrossed horizontal and vertical line patters are very similar. Colors for this season include classic red, burnt summer yellow, purple, and gray checks. Plaid this season can be seen in whole skirt and blazer sets, patchwork shorts or bustier type tops. You can even swap a plaid button-down for one

with tartan shoulder trimming. Plaid tartan and check give ample choice of colors, patterns, fabrics and styles to choose from proving that this trend can flourish even in warmer months of the year.

Where?

Designer Donatella Versace looked to clans with a collection full of tartan and plaid with a glamorous twist. The show focused on sleek coats, miniskirts and form-fitting dresses. A bold color palette featured shades of yellow, blue, red and purple for a clash on plaid and check.

This picture is from a recent Michael Kors fashion show. It included boyish pairings of Argyle and plaid. Kors called it a love letter to individual style.

This red and brown plaid blazer is beautifully tailored. Its paired with a blue and green pair of plaid dress pants and a bright mustard yellow top. This look can be dressy or casual depending on the shoes and accessories.

Some of the trends that re-emerged from the 2000s such as chunky sneakers mainly influenced by the models and actresses posting them wearing the trends . It seems like nowadays advertising and marketing is more efficient as respected famous faces are posting them through out social media in positive ways. Especially when you can shop on the app as some brands chooses to link their fashion items to their online shopping page.

Thus suggests convenience for shoppers may boost sales. Even if they seem too unlikely to be a craze, trends like colored lenses re-emerged as well as social media conveys how unique looking they can appear on people. However most of the trends of this era depends on the individuals style. This would

attract people who are more preppy, more fun and chic and takes inspiration from the well- known movies which came out that time like Clueless and Mean Girls. Tube tops are essentially tight- fitting and strapless, typically made of stretchy materials. A piece of clothing made for the summer season, are usually seen in vibrant colors and interesting patterns. Nowadays, more young Instagram models have been wearing it. Recently tube tops can be seen in street wear or just casual stay- at- home attire. These can be paired with sweat pants, skirts, jeans or baggy pants.

Popping up all over Instagram are 2000’s platform shoes; More specifically, platform boots are especially popular among the trend driven youth like the Instagram account @ttigerlilly.

Yoko Ono is is a Japanese multimedia artist, singer, songwriter, and peace activist.

She is known for her work in performance art and filmmaking as well as skimming the surface as a smalltime fashion icon. In her most recent birthday post she is wearing her ever-present shades but changes them up for black cat-eye sunglasses that were popular in the 2000’s.

What?

Layering necklaces is going to be a subtle yet abundant trend in spring summer. Instagram models are seen wearing countless amounts of gold, rose gold, silver and various other materials. There are so many options when it comes to layering. Something as simple as a T-Shirt, and denim bottoms can standout with layered jewelry accessories. More specifically you can layer necklaces that are already in your closet or pair them with new current necklace styles to give it a fresh look.

Activist, Model and founder of GURLS TALK Adwoa Aboah (@adwoaaboah) appeared in an Instagram post by New York based @tuzajewelry. She asked for longer necklace lengths and the company now offers longer sizes to layer. Aboah layers pearls along with gold nameplates and small chains for an edgy yet refined look.

Vida Kush utilized layered necklaces in one of their newest lookbook pieces. Layering isn’t just for longer and shorter necklaces.

Layering short chains and chokers can be done tastefully if the trend is done right.

The layering trend is popping up throughout many different levels of the fashion industry but more concentrated within the lower tiers.

This girl is sporting two different small statement necklaces. Both are thin gold chains with pendants. There’s an opal oval with detailing and a contrasting organic shape of Italy on the bottom of the longer chain. Mixing an opal and metal makes it contrast yet less flashy than lots of sparkly diamonds making it a more minimalistic and dainty look.

One of the key items seen for Spring 2018 specifically are wide leg pants. After years and years of skin tight pants dominating the market, pants are now following a wider and more voluminous silhouette. Long women’s trousers cute with a loose, extreemly wide leg that flares our from the waist. Usually created in the flowing fabrics that are breathable in hot weather.

Wide leg pants or palazzo pants first became a popular trend in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The style was reminiscent of the widelegged cuffed trousers worn by some women fond of avant-garde fashions in the 1930s and 1940s, particularly actresses such as Katharine Hepburn, Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich.

These style of pants are a great way to give a little taste of the 70s coming back as a style.

These silhouettes were first seen with the culotte

style that everyone was wearing this past summer. Lately the fabrics are becoming more structured which completely changes the look. Denim is also a popular fabric used to make this style more casual and give it a more street style vibe. An easy way to style these is by pairing them with a slim top to offset the wide silhouette of the pants. Also a differentiation in length is coming into play. Some pant styles are more cropped and others are floor length.

Many designers from different price points are all jumping onto this trend and creating pants in a wider silhouette.

Stella McCartney’s wide-leg jeans are a breath of fresh air from her normal high fashion style. These dark denim wide leg bottoms were balanced out by a cropped denim jacket in the same inky hue with a taylored denim blouse.

Years ago, the denim market was a boombing success.Athleisure began to gain movement in the late 2013’s into early 2014’s. It took over a big portion of the denim market. Lately the general athleisure movement has been slowley shrinking.

This is leading the denim market to gain its share back. For spring summer denim is going to be all the rage, more specificaly, overalls. Retro inspired workwear is also puching this trend even farther making the younder generation implement overalls into their new looks. Overalls can look ladylike, glamourous and perfect, if you know the right mixing and matching

style. This is a must-wear staple of summer season. They have a classic look what pretty much goes with anything, starting from crop tops, shirts to pullovers and tees. This is an extremely versatile piece that can go from casual days to funky parties, from morning to night.

Chance the Rapper is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and fashion brand owner. Chance normally sticks with the same type of outfits when it comes to his personal style. This made it all the more unusual when he stepped out in denim overalls at a recent concert of his.

The shiny sparkle trend has hit us with full swing. This summer be prepared to see everything from glittering palettes and sparkling sequins on skirts, to shiny dresses and even pantsuits. In the past sequins have mainly used as an eveningwear piece or special event outfit however, sequin separates are now being pared down for everyday wear. Throwing sequins into a laidback look is the ideal way to dress up an everyday outfit without looking like you’re trying too hard. Shiny fabric and reflective fabric are also seeing an increase in the younger trend driven generation. All these materials are a great way to play with textures and differents weights of fabric.

Tom Ford Spring 2018: Coming to a (very sparkly) red carpet near you. Sticking with the melenial pink was a safe choice for Tom Ford but adding the sparkle gave this look just what it needed to stand out on the runway.

Women today are starting to embrace all trends such as more risky ones like sheer dresses. They are sexy and eye catching.

With the gain in popularity that means that this spring and summer you will see more bras and underwear on display under these beautiful transparent garments.The trend for full coverage underwear is something that hasnt been popular in a while and is spurred by the intrest in trancarant clothing. The shearness of these dresses is such a creative way to layer and add spunk to your outfit. Bras or braletts can be styled underneath a sheer dresses made from ma-

terial like light nets to organza fabrics.

Styling these dresses in real life is much different than styling for the runway. Whereas the runway is a place where the bra and underwear is welcomed as a fashion statement, that is not the case with how accepted it is in everday wear. Women usually opt for a mix of shear and opacity to balance out the amount of skin showing.
