Projects with Carter and Company

During my Fall 2021 semester, I interned with Carter and Company, a high end residential design firm located in Boston, Massachusetts. During my time at the firm I assisted in creating floorplans in Revit and designing a custom bunk bed for a home in Nantucket. The bunk bed drawings I created were used by the builders. Furthermore, I worked with Michael Carter, the principal designer, in designing the floorplans and a 3D Revit model for a home in Connecticut.

Healthcare Design Project Description: My Spring 2021 Junior Year healthcare project focused on a hospital and rehab center located in Nantucket, MA. The center features an emergency center, urgent care, diagnostics unit and rehab spaces. The goal was to create a space that focuses on a sense of community. The hospital allows for growth and an increase in wellbeing through both the functional elements and the aesthetic elements of the space.

Bicycle Concept:

A bicycle is reminiscent of summer days and fun memories. Within a healthcare setting this reminds patients and staff of happiness during stressful times. It also symbolizes the journey to getting better and that it will get easier; “it’s just like riding a bike.”

Public Sector and Educational Design Project Description: My Fall 2020 Junior year public sector and educational project regarded a six floor building located in SoHo, New York City, New York. The goal of the project was to create a community center that provides the neighborhood with an education center, a library, a restaraunt, an art gallery and a lecture hall.

Paisley Concept:

The paisley pattern relates to the comeback story seen within SoHo’s history. The popularity of the paisley began as a symbol of luxury. However, as the years went on the pattern decreased in popularity. In the 60s, the paisley pattern came back as a symbol of bohemia, hippies, rock and roll and eclecticism. It has continued to retain its trendy, eclectic vibe to present day.

Corporate Design Project Description:

Concept: Cistus Flower

My sophomore year Spring 2020 Corporate design project was based upon the design of the sustainable cosmetic company, Apivita. Based out of Greece, Apivita creates products through sustainable elements such as Greek plant extract and beehive product.

The Greek cistus flower has a calming effect and can alleviate one’s spirit, similarly to the cosmetic products of Apivita. The flower is known for its ability to heal wounds.

Historical Cafe Project My sophomore Spring 2020 project for History of Architecture and Interior Design focuses on the integration of two distinct Eastern and Western historic styles. The project highlights elements of the Islamic Mosque style, as seen in the Mosque of Djerba (c.1700s) and elements of the Mannerist style, illustrated in the Cloister of D. Joao III (1557-1591). unexpected ornate element (Mannerist)
