Tasked with creating a movie theater that answers the question “Why Go Out?,” I imagined a program that fills in the title, “____ & A Movie.” Whether that be through activities such as paint, eat, dirnk, or sit outside, the movie theater aims to get people to keep coming back in order to reap all of the experiences offered. With streaming services taking over the film industry, this allows for people to have various activites to embark in while enjoying a film catered to said activity. Curvy walls and ceilings guide visitors through the space with softness and playfulness, highlighting the overall expereince to be had. A large circulation lobby with a grand staircase and bar gives users a place to meet up with friends or catch up after their viewing is over.

02 SquareSpace Studio
The ambition of this design was to create a mixed-use building suitable for a graphic design firm as well as flexible lease space through sustainable techniques. My design contains a hybrid mass-timber and steel structure, colorful mechanical louvers, and solar chimneys. Creating a fun and playful studio environment was a top priority in the development of this project. With open studio workspace, rooftop gardens, and colorful elements, this is a space that allows for peak creativity.

03 Micro Housing Challenged to create a prototype housing unit in 350 sqaure feet, this design caters primarily to the audience of university students. Micro-housing is a cost effective, minimalist way of living suitable for students with low-income. Each unit serves four students in a semi-private, split level use. Through conducting surveys, students want a shared living space with the option of a quiet corridor, as offered by the split levels. On top of the unit, a mixed-use facility was designed to give students a place to book study rooms, exercise, and receive mail.

Mixed-Use Building
Taking a closer look at the mixed-use building, spaces are dedicated to student involvement by designating areas for quiet studying alone, with groups, exercise equipment, a mail room, and an open courtyard space in the center. Since housing size is limited, having the ability to utilze a shared on-site building to fulfill other basic student needs is crucial for a successful living environment.

04 Museum of Emotions A Museum of Emotions, designed to elicit two specific, opposing emotions through design. In this instance, anxiety is expressed through low ceiling height, changing elevations, and vivid colors scattered in no pattern. Serenity, then felt through an open space that carries a water feature for backhround ambiance. All five senses can be explored in both exhibits, and then one can finally retreat to the meditation room to come back to themselves.
