Personal Statement
As absurd as it might seem in hindsight, during my childhood my initial interest in architecture largely came from the impression that architect was a high-salary profession. However, through a systematic study of this discipline, I have now discovered that the idyllic and profound architecture that inspires emotion and thinking is my real enthusiasm. The reason why I used to view architecture as a means to money-making was because my living conditions in Hong Kong as a youngster were deplorable. I remember more than a dozen individuals from multiple families including mine living in a small apartment of less than 600 square feet. Such depressing living experience was and probably still is common in Hong Kong. By contrast, the business districts in the city all looked and still look fancy with masterpiece buildings designed by various maestro architects. Yet they rarely make me feel that I belong there. Unlike the cold-blood fanciness of the CBD or the depressing apartments in Hong Kong, the Rolex Learning Center by SANAA brought me an unprecedented idyllic experience. I feel that the Rolex Center is an ideal incarnation of this connection, which arouses my affection with its unique and appealing structure. It is precise because of the uniqueness and affinity of the Rolex Learning Center that I find more room for imagination and creation and feel that I am no longer the girl trapped in the small, narrow and crowed apartment worrying about keeping neat and tidy. Following this inspiration, I gradually find it most important in my design projects Ko Hang Man, Emily hangmanko0125@gmail.com +852 91077576 "KEEP MOVING FORWARD"
to stimulate people's emotions towards buildings in positive ways and further explore how our feeling is attuned to the geometry and arrangement of the spaces we inhabit. As my study furthers, I find that in addition to the architecture that stimulates emotions, buildings that trigger thinking also fascinate me. A project that inspires me the most in this aspect is the Jewish Museum, where every corner of the museum, with its intentionally designed dark tones and labyrinth-like circulation, seems to be telling how purgatory the world can be for a person born. At the same time, the space with its abstract notifications, also drives me to reflect in profundity on how to create a world where everyone is equally based on the lessons of history. I believe that in this way the design enables visitors to deduce what the architect's main message is and respond accordingly. Such interaction between abstract architectural design and human cognition appears to me to be crucial as it influences an individual’s thoughts and potentially also his or her behavior, which in turn affects the built environment shared by us all. With this understanding, I try to employ these kinds of concepts in my own design projects. For instance, in my library design the idea is to allow visitors to learn information through a variety of approaches. With the enthusiasm I have stated, I am eager to make further attempts to investigate these fields in graduate school. Considering my advanced abilities and experience of internships and exchanges outside of Hong Kong, I am certain that I will be able to meet the difficulties posed by the M.Arch program at University of Edinburgh. Furthermore, the University of Edinburgh attracts me greatly with its an exceptional academic environment as one of the UK's oldest and most prestigious universities.

01 UNITY Market about love Individual work
The concept is about love, about cherishing. The idea of the market is about the basic needs, subtle and romantic. It's like spending time and effort to design for an ordinary object, ordinary life, fill them with care. The market is not just for housewives, I want everyone can join it, like family and children. The market is a medium to promote the idea of cherishing and deepening the people's memory of the market and also let the city be more engaged with urban farming. Therefore, in the market, I selected three-element to present the above ideas, they are relationships between users and sellers, the connection between nature and people and also a more self-sustainable urban lift style. I want to arrange it by circulation and disrupt the three elements.

02 The Playscape Communicate with Building Individual work
Students can Communicate with Building. Wanting users especially the students to give a response to this building for example they can sit on the terrain or they can run through the slope. The students could do whatever they want in some areas in this architectural space, just like interacting with the building or even interact with the designing people. It doesn't like the typical kindergarten which controlling the children to do something that the teacher wants, like walking in the corridor or running in the playground, instead they can run, climb and laid down.
- The Idea This kindergarten is an architecture, not a facility like a playground with some seesaw and slide. The children could do whatever they want in this architectural space, just like interacting with it. It doesn't like the typical kindergarten which controlling the children to do something that the teacher wants. When the children so some response to the building like running, climbing, crawling, they just like communicating with this architecture.

CLASSROOMS
The classroom has a unique feature in that the ground is not level, but rather has huge and tiny terrains that will form a focal point. And this focal point can be used to create a focused activity area, such as a classroom. On the way to the left, youngsters may be observed reacting differently to various ramps and interacting with the ground. Some people painted on the ground, some read on the ground, and yet others ran and jumped across enormous and little ramps.

CLASSROOMS
This area takes up half of the floor and provides them with such a relatively flat surface. This area, with the exception of the teacher's office, is the only one in the kindergarten that employs doors to divide the space, making it an independent room. This space is divided into three sections, with three of them serving as classrooms. This spacious classroom is self-contained in order to provide a calmer and more pleasant classroom and writing atmosphere for the older students.

03 FLOWER Create a variety of methods for acquiring knowledge Individual work
Libraries are public information gateways that give lifelong learning and independent judgment to people and communities. A library is a place where "information is for everyone." Visitors of all genders, ages, nations, languages, religious views, educational levels, and economic circumstances can benefit from the library's books and expertise. As a result, the primary goal of public libraries is to address the requirements of a diverse range of persons and organizations with varying educational backgrounds by providing a variety of materials and services. As a result, I believe that knowledge is a must for a library. You may, however, employ a different way to assist consumers in gaining information, rather than simply providing them with books. Because I believe that the library should give access to information for tourists, neighborhoods, and other groups of individuals. As a result, offering materials and learning facilities to promote formal and informal learning are critical in assisting users in becoming more productive learners. It can increase communication between individuals, just with the use of a circular shape chair. Also, being a public area is vital for improving communication between individuals, especially in communities where there are few gathering spaces. As a result, I'd want to make use of this type of service. And, in my opinion, public libraries should function as "community living rooms," attempting to give patrons a nice social experience. In libraries, education and learning methods differ from those used in schools. At all levels, I believe libraries should provide places for both formal and selfeducation. Libraries are public knowledge portals that provide individuals and communities with life-long learning and independent judgment.

Consistent Language The building's appearance is not square in order to produce the ever-changing impact of the inner space. As a result, a well-planned appearance expression becomes more crucial, and it must also meet the interior space layout. The library has a distinctive appearance that helps it stand out in the neighborhood. This performance may also encourage more people to attend and utilize the library, so increasing awareness of another means to obtain knowledge and spreading knowledge. At the same time, the building's façade has an outward sense, implying that information may be disseminated from the building's central point.

05 Urban Gateway Back Alley collaborators: Ching Tun Yeung, Bosco
Everyone's fundamental living conditions include food, clothes, shelter, and transportation. You don't have to eat lavishly; at the very least, you can eat well. You don't have to wear a full-body brand name to keep warm and comfortable; at the very least, you can stay warm and comfortable. You don't have to live with an unobstructed view of the sea; at the very least, you'll be protected from the wind and rain. You won't have to get in and out of high-end sports vehicles, but you will be able to travel with ease. The high cost of living in Hong Kong, as well as the densely populated Isthmus, are widely recognized. The cage house dates back to the 1950s, when a significant influx of mainland immigrants flooded Hong Kong, and the "cage home" was built on the basis of a population explosion. It's still tough to count the people that live in the cage home. They reside in an iron and wood hut measuring 6 feet by 3 feet. It's even more cramped than a coffin. They are unable to extend their legs and must curl up under the little blanket in the middle of the night. And, like Hong Kong's cage house, Hong Kong's back alley is a filthy, claustrophobic area. The back alleyways are always changing and have a distinct appearance with each visit. Some people lay things down, some people take things away, and you'll witness the grassroots equivalent of a native culture. They're in their own little worlds and haven't met each other yet. You have your life, and I have my responsibilities, and they have nothing to do with one another. There are few people who come and go here; no one is bothered, and no one will be blinded; at the very least, gentlemen and ladies in fur coats will not pass by. Some back alleyways are particularly foul-smelling, with sewage strewn everywhere. So, in the back alley, I'd want to construct a paradise for individuals in need, such as those who live in an unsuitable environment, are homeless, or are dealing with the stresses of life. HONG KONG'S CAGE HOUSE & BACK ALLEY
You appreciate Hong Kong's success, but have you heard of the "cage house" ? People who live in cage homes, sometimes known as "coffin houses," have no alternative but to live on the streets. Perhaps there are such hardworking folks hidden under the glitz and dazzle of every metropolis. Despite the pressures of life and the difficulties they face, they must work hard to survive. This type of living habitat, in my opinion, is not dissimilar to the living environment of animals. They may not be seen often and want to be forgotten, yet they are a crucial element of the city and contribute to its development. As a result, we must not forget them. I'm hoping that this design may help them establish a pleasant workplace. They may have their own space, where they can enjoy, relax, and be remembered by the community. They've always been a part of who we are.
Back Alley
Reclamation Street is a street in Hong Kong, located in the western part of the Kowloon Peninsula. The road starts from Nanjing Street in Jordan in the south, passes through Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok, and connects to the junction of Prince Edward Road West and Lai Chi Kok Road in the north, and is roughly parallel to the adjacent Canton Road, Portland Street and Shanghai Street. The street is also famous for selling hardware items, and there is also a section of the market as a pedestrian zone, which is not allowed to drive. To create space in the hutong, we mostly employ raw materials and vegetal features. It was created to stand out against its surroundings, which included a pre-existing sense of a concrete jungle and back alley. The back alley's new purpose is to bring people together and give a semi-private space for activities such as smoking. The back alley is no longer a filthy, dark environment; it has been transformed into a long, narrow space where people may participate in a new shape and presentation of spaces and facilities.
