Small details, large impact Location, density, mediums, maintenance, and maturity are all small details that will influence the success of your designs. I find myself being inspired by the smallest of details in nature. I find the details and symmetry that can appear in plants astounding. The small elevations of surfaces, ribbed or wavy edges, and colored stems can have a large impact on a design especially when properly grouped or contrasted with opposing textures and colors. I am inspired by the natural movement in plants and how you can create feeling and emotion through plantings. Placing groups of different plants together to create sweeps of color and texture is an effect I try to use to pull the viewer to certain areas of the landscape. I find so many elements in nature to be inspiring; some of which are the lighting, color changes throughout the seasons, texture, and movement. These changes throughout the lifecycles found in nature are what truly fascinate and inspire me. My goal is to bring nature to everyday life, to change the connections we have with nature, and the respect we have for it.

Final Project Fall 2021 University on Cincinnati, 2021 This project’s main focus was in Lower Price Hill at Evans Park along the Mill Creek in Cincinnati, Ohio. This area is is historically known for its economic and ecological injustice. Our project was looking at new ways to connect the community with the surrounding area and reimagine Evans Park. For my approach I wanted to focus on connection with the community through a series of lofted pathways and bike trails to connect the community with the surrounding area and lead into downtown Cincinnati. A community corridor to safely connect the community to the park was proposed as well. When looking at Evans Park the main concerns facing the community were the heat island effect, air pollution and flood possibilities. To help combat these ecological effects a new forest area, ecological learning gardens, and new tree plantings around the area were proposed. To engage the community over 3 miles of trails would be installed along the park and Mill Creek for views of the city and Ohio river, offering exercise of different forms to the community, and safe travel around the area for children and those of all ages.

Creating micro-climates throughout this design offers different experiences for visitors around every corner. I incorporated ecological restorative actions to help renew this area and prevent future flooding in this area, while creating a beautiful native pallet for educational proposes as well.

I have designed a lofted walkway through the trees to offer a different experience and connection with nature, offering viewpoints from all over for visitors. Walkways are designed for accessibility allowing for all to enjoy the different vantage points of the park. Ground pathways allow for a more immersive walk through the park, while still having direct paths for quick access across.

The River Within University on Cincinnati, 2021 The goal of this analysis was to take different tributaries along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park and represent how to all are very unique and individual, but all run into the same river. This is representing the different life styles we all live individually, yet we are all connected in life and the connection we all have is struggle. This exercise was to help us understand contour lines in landscape and how we can analyze the relationship between contour lines and emotions expressed in land forms.The goal of my analysis was to take different tributaries along the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park and represent how all are unique and individual, but all run into the same river. This is representing the different lifestyles we all live individually, yet we are all connected in life and the connection we all have is struggle.
The Relaxed
The Giver Someone who is putting others’ needs above their own, always opening themselves up to others. This is represented by the two water sources flowing into the larger Colorado River. This is symbolic to opening one’s self up and caring for those around them as themselves. The fluctuations of the contours themselves is representative of someone who is fluctuating their own emotions for someone else
Someone who goes with the flow and is easily adaptable with any situation. This is represented in the landscape by the increased distance between the contours similarly to how one can be okay with staying in one place and doesn’t feel the need to constantly be shifting and changing. However, the swift, sharp curves within the contours represented the adaptability of a relaxed person and how they can flow easily through it all.

The Wanderer
The Struggle Struggle is the common theme amongst all of these landforms as well as humankind. As the water in the river struggles to move forward when it hits a rock, we also all struggle to move forward at points in our lives. We as humans all live our own individual lives with our own set of restrictions or the lac thereof but every human will struggle with something at some point in their life. The struggle could be internal, a struggle of who we are or who we want to be. The struggle could be learning a new subject, the struggle to love someone, the struggle to make new friends, the struggle to get out of bed each day. We all have struggles and many struggles we go through by our lonesome and never shared with others. These are our victories that are usually not celebrated as they should be. We do not know the struggles one goes through in their life to get to be the person you are seeing today. As we move through life we overcome many struggles, and as we overcome these struggles we grow as a person. We all, like the tributaries throughout the Grand Canyon, face struggles on our path.
The Straight Edge
Someone who does not deviate from the norm. They live in a strict, in line, life style. This is represented in this landscape from the symmetry and linear nature of the landscape.
The Wanderer Someone who is ever changing and shifting. They are always looking for the next adventures. They are free, moving through life without necessarily having aim or purpose, other than to experience as much as possible. This is represented by the contours as they are non symmetrical, and as the water splits the landscapes it rises at different scales. The right most one is a more gentle slope, whereas the left one is a more dramatic slope. As a wanderer is accustomed to the extremes in life they are also welcoming to slow down in parts of their life. The contour lines themselves resemble this as well, as some are straight and smooth while others have more turns within them, as they rise they are ever changing and shifting.

Landforms are a diverse tool of landscape architects with its effects within the landscape being a range of emotions from
dramatic and subtle, formal and informal, grand and
humble.
Design Intent Charles Jencks and his wife wanted to create a mysterious and wonderous land that was inspired my nature, science, and math. They wanted to create a place where you felt lost in time and space. Inspired by black holes, they wanted to create a space that was intriguing yet disorienting. In my model I wanted to keep this idea of disorientation but in a positive way. As a child you spin around until you are disorientated and laugh until it hurts. I wanted to create a space that made you feel disoriented in a way that you do not know where you came from or where you are going but you are looking froward to what is around the corner. I wanted to use paths, hierarchy, and scale to make adults and children feel small in this space as they move through the landscape. Light plays a big role in this design as the sun’s movement around it will shine light in these paths or create shade that gives it a more eerie and enclosed feeling while walking through.

When creating a space we are not just making it for the viewer, but we are also creating an ecosystem. This garden not only looks like a butterfly, but each plant and flower used in it serves a purpose in butterflies' and other pollinators' life cycles. Filled with pollinator friendly plants, this garden design was submitted to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens for a competition through the University of Cincinnati. Spaces for multi use... Whether it be the dog escaping you or you escaping the dog, this alluring space will pull you away from reality and into a beautiful hiding space For this design I wanted to create a space that had a sense of enchantment and wonder with popping colors and unique shapes of flowers. Many of these flowers are great for cut flowers that can be used around your home to bring the wonder of nature inside. EP: Landscape Architecture- Pg. 16
