BIOGRAPHY
Describedas“dazzling”and“scintillating,”(ClassicalSource)andlaudedforher “beautifulsinginglines”andperformancesfilledwith“dramaandenergy”(Joan Tower),pianistEmikoEdwardscontinuestocaptivateaudienceswithhersincere musical interpretations and wide variety of tonal color, receiving awards and accoladesforherperformancesthroughouttheUnitedStatesandabroad.
Atagetenshehadmadeherpianoconcertodebut, and by age eleven took top prize in the 18th International Young Artist Piano Competition, Washington, D.C. Since then, she has been a laureateofnumerouscompetitionsatthenational andinternationallevelandisa2024winnerof TheAmericanPrize.
Edwards has been featured in performances at Carnegie Hall,MerkinConcertHall,AliceTullyHall,MiltonCourt ConcertHall(London),theYamahaSalon,andontheBBC Total Immersion Series, and Barbican Centre’s Sound UnboundFestival.SheholdsanumberofBBCcreditstoher name,herliveperformancesrecordedforandbroadcaston BBCRadio3.Additionalfilmandradioappearancesinclude thosebroadcastedonWRTIandPBS.
Edwards’spersonalhighlightsincludeherLincolnCenter debut recital performing all-Copland, "[An] exceptional meeting between composer and musician," (New York Classical Review), as well as her Chicago recital debut presentedbytheAmericanMusicProject,(“CriticsChoice for 2024-2025,” Chicago Classical Review), and concerto engagements with the Guildhall Brass Ensemble and CambridgeGraduateOrchestra.
AdditionalhighlightsincludethePhiladelphiapremiereof the Joan Tower Piano Concerto (1985) and the American premiereof“June”byKarenLefrakattheDavidH.Koch TheaterincollaborationwithmembersoftheNYCballet.
