This reflects both our commitment to facilitate life change for individuals facing significant obstacles, and our commitment to broader, systemic change at the community level.

EMERGE Community Development
ABOUT EMERGE EMERGE is a workforce development agency with Service Centers in North Minneapolis and Cedar-Riverside and social enterprises in Minneapolis and the northern suburbs. Every year we help thousands of people access jobs, career training, financial coaching, and other services along pathways to brighter futures. Our participants are typically 80-85% Minneapolis residents and 97% are low-income; 93% identified as a person of color, primarily African American (58%) and African (22%). EMERGE operates three social enterprise businesses that create training jobs and provide services in recycling, furniture resale, and metal manufacturing.

OUR IMPACT In 2021, EMERGE provided services to 1,606 participants. Of those served, 90% identified as a person of color with the largest groups served: African American (57%) and African (19%). Our participants are 96% low-income with 87% under the poverty-line.

270 participants Gained Skills or furthered their education
475 participants were placed in 621 Job Placements, while 67 youth participated in an internship
123 participants accessed Financial Education or Coaching
110 participants received On-The-Job skill training at our Enterprises
