EMERGENCY, DISASTER AND CRITICAL CARE NURSING Duration: 11 months University: SEK Place: Santiago, Chile.

DESCRIPTION The importance of nursing care related to emergencies, disasters and critical patients is increasing day by day. Hazardous events of anthropic, natural and socio natural kinds affect the world’s population with rates of injury and mortality. It is required to have nurses trained in emergency and disaster relief with extensive expertise.

Nursing of critical patients is a key issue of pub ause Critical care helps people with life-threatening injuries and illnesses need proper care. Students will be able to work in the care of critically patients with a holistic approach, with skills to face the challenges and complexities of critically patients care.

Duration: 11 months Language of instruction : English

OBJECTIVES:

+ To render high level education in Nursing in Emergencies / Disaster and critic patient care. nurses with master degree level knowledge that can work on Emergencies / Disaster + Toandform critic patient care. + To contribute to form researchers in Nursing in Emergencies / Disaster and critic patient care.

CORE SUBJECTS / Academic Program Module 1: Introduction to the concept of emergencies and disasters.

Module 2: Health impacts of disasters and emergencies.

TERM 1 DIPLOMA IN NURSING IN EMERGENCIES AND DISASTER 4 months

Module 3: Networks of emergencies and disasters relief.

Module 4: Addressing emergency management.

Module 5: Management of multiple victims (site visits).

Module 6: Triage in Disaster (practical workshop).

Module 7: Emergency.

Module 8: BASIC CPR (practical workshop).

Module 9: Healthcare in emergencies and disasters.

Module 1: Basic and general concepts of patient in critical condition care system.

TERM 2 DIPLOMA IN CRITICAL PATIENT CARE 4 months

Module 2: Bioethics in care and decision making.

Module 3: Advanced Life Support. Technologies and medical devices.

Module 4: Nursing care in critical patients.

Module 5: Pharmacology applied in critical patients.

TERM 3 THESIS 3 months

Module 1: Research and nursing.

Module 2: Qualitative and quantitative Developmental Research.

Module 3: Thesis workshop.

STUDENT PROFILE The program is especially designed for foreign students who want to enter at the world of nursing of emergencies, disasters and critical patients, and who are interested in public health to manage extreme situations and emergencies.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: To join the Master´s Program, participants must full fill the following requirements:

Professional Nurses Letter of motivation or intention to participate in Master´s Program.

Accrediting University graduate and grades.

English: Advance Level.

Personal or Telephonic Interview.

TRAINING METHOD: Master clases, lectures and case development.

High Fidelity Simulation Center with all of its equipment designed to enhance nursing learning and moodle platform.

Technical visits.

Master professors with extensive experience in Risk Management, Emergencies and Public and Private Health systems.

CAREER PROSPECTS: Graduates will be able to work in the care of critically patients and also to successfully participate in Emergency and Disaster relief and to integrate extra hospital rescue teams and hospital care and integrate international humanitarian missions. *To work legally as a nurse in Chile, is mandatory validate your university degree of nursing from your country, through making a compulsory national exam about specific nursing skills of each student. This exam must be done in Spanish lenguage.
