With N u a n c e s , pianist Jeremy Hababou gives us an album of stripped-down, sometimes minimalist, pieces, the reflection of an aesthetic profoundly rooted in his personality. As he likes to say, ‘technical mastery of an instrument does not suffice for becoming an artist. Being an artist precedes artistic discipline. Above all, it is a necessity, a sensibility, another way of looking at the world, a quest.’

Whilst his approach and compositions are inspired by literature, poetry, the visual arts, and philosophy, Jeremy Hababou also borrows from the classical repertoire. These references are perceptible throughout his work, even though they take varied forms of expression. Travel constitutes a common theme in his progression, attesting to a constant need for sharing, exchanging, feelings and emotions. The mixtures of rhythms and colours present throughout the album are so many invitations to ‘go further’ and discover an unknown made up of surprises and astonishments.

Le pianiste Jeremy Hababou livre avec N u a n c e s un album aux mélodies épurées, parfois minimalistes, reflet d’une esthétique profondément ancrée dans sa personnalité. Comme il se plait à le dire, « la maîtrise technique d’un instrument ne suffit pas à devenir artiste. Être artiste précède la discipline artistique. C’est avant tout une nécessité, une sensibilité, un autre regard sur le monde, une quête. » Inspiré dans sa démarche et ses compositions par la littérature, la poésie, les arts plastiques et la philosophie, Jeremy Hababou emprunte également au répertoire classique. Ces références sont perceptibles au travers de toute son œuvre, même si elles prennent des formes d’expression variées.

Le voyage constitue un fil rouge dans son cheminement, témoin d’un besoin permanent de partager, d’échanger, des sentiments et des émotions.

Les mélanges de rythmes et de couleurs présents tout au long de l’album sont autant d’invitations à « aller plus loin », découvrir un inconnu fait de surprises et d’étonnements.
