La paramédica Sarah Dresser comenzó su carrera en Hall Ambulance en 2012 como miembro de la División de Mantenimiento. Más tarde ese año, solicitó y fue aceptada en la Academia Hall EMT. A lo largo de 2023, Paramedic Dresser demostró constantemente sus habilidades para funcionar como paramédica. Trabajó 15 turnos adicionales el año pasado y tuvo una asistencia casi perfecta con solo una llamada por enfermedad en el año. En diciembre de ese año, el EMT Peña fue transferido a la División East Kern, y actualmente trabaja en la estación de Hall Ambulance en Mojave en el turno B. Se desempeña como oficial de capacitación de campo (FTO, por sus siglas en inglés) y capacitó a varios técnicos de emergencias médicas nuevos en East Kern el año pasado. Los supervisores de East Kern lo felicitan continuamente por su trabajo en equipo y su compromiso con su carrera y los pacientes a los que atiende. Durante 2023, EMT Peña trabajó 14 turnos adicionales. Su actitud positiva le valió 14 elogios de supervisores y compañeros de trabajo, lo que lo ubicó en un lugar destacado entre sus compañeros técnicos de emergencias médicas y paramédicos. Durante su entrevista con El Popular, el pastor indicó que, en su opinión, él cree que la alcaldesa esta sobre su cabeza en temas que no se han resuelto temas en los cuales ella no tiene idea en cómo resolver, tales como la población en estado de calle. Según Tatum, Bakersfield tiene aproximadamente 65,000 habitantes viviendo debajo del nivel de pobreza, siendo el nivel nacional del 12.4 por ciento y Bakersfield conteniendo un 16.3 por ciento, el cual es el 3.9 por ciento más alto que el nivel nacional. Tatum indica que tiene muchas ideas en como cambiar estos números y verlos moverse en una forma más positiva para nuestra comunidad. “Si un día de estos yo fuese electo alcalde de la ciudad de Bakersfield. El camino ha sido diferente para su hermano menor, MarQuan Thornton, actualmente estudiante de último año de secundaria en Adelanto. A meses de graduarse, Thornton forma parte de un pequeño grupo de estudiantes que no deciden si irá a la universidad, sino cuál. Thornton ha trabajado duro, pero reconoce que la diferencia clave entre su trayectoria y la de su hermana es el apoyo que está recibiendo de la escuela que no existía durante el tiempo que su hermana estuvo allí. Tres años después de que su hermana se graduara, su escuela secundaria comenzó el Programa de Herencia, que tiene como objetivo garantizar que los estudiantes negros, como él, estén en camino de completar sus requisitos A-G. Si bien la gran mayoría de los estudiantes en California, el 86% de los estudiantes de último año en 2023, se gradúan de la escuela secundaria, la mayoría, el 56% en 2023, no completan sus requisitos A-G, según un análisis de EdSource de datos del Departamento de Educación de California. El análisis de EdSource encontró que los estudiantes negros y latinos son los más afectados. En 2023, el 68% de los estudiantes negros y el 64% de los estudiantes latinos no cumplieron con los requisitos A-G, en comparación con el 26% de los estudiantes asiáticos y el 48% de los estudiantes blancos, según el análisis de EdSource. La idea de simplemente alinear los requisitos mínimos de la escuela secundaria del estado con los requisitos de A-G no ha cobrado fuerza debido a la preocupación de que resultaría en que menos estudiantes se gradúen, dijo Mayra Lara, directora de asociaciones y compromiso del sur de California con Ed Trust-West. ¿Cuáles son los requisitos de la A a la G? Pero para asistir a una UC o CSU se requiere que un estudiante tome 15 cursos en siete áreas: historia, inglés, matemáticas, ciencias, lengua extranjera, artes y una materia optativa. Cada categoría tiene su propia letra, de la A a la G, que es donde los requisitos obtienen su nombre. Estos cursos se superponen con los requisitos de la escuela secundaria, pero también son más rigurosos. Por ejemplo, se requieren tres años de inglés para graduarse de la escuela secundaria, mientras que la elegibilidad A-G requiere cuatro años. Solo uno de esos años puede incluir Inglés como Segundo Idioma o Desarrollo del Idioma Inglés, cursos en los que los estudiantes de inglés a menudo se inscriben. Las calificaciones bajas son una forma común en que los estudiantes se salen de la vía A-G. Una “D” se considera una calificación aprobatoria para un diploma de escuela secundaria, pero las clases A-G requieren al menos una “C” para contar como elegibles. Muere adolescente en Delano tras pelea con su primo Delano, Ca – La pelea empezó después de que su primo de aproximadamente 15 anos le llamara una persona “sin vida”. Y mientras el no estaba seguro de quien fue el que lanzo el primer golpe, Mario Enríquez, 20, dijo que el golpeo a su primo de ocho a nueve veces mientras el recibió dos a tres golpes. Después de la pelea, el detuvo a su primo, Khristian García, de irse de su casa, y el adolescente se tropezó sobre una bicicleta y se pegó en la nuca cuando cayo al suelo, dijo Enríquez en los reportes policiacos. García murió dos días después. Enriques ha sido acusado de tres delitos mayores: asalto con lesiones corporales serias, infligir lesiones a un menor y encarcelamiento falso con violencia. Su próxima audiencia esta programada para el 13 de marzo. En la madrugada del pasado 28 de enero, elementos fueron movilizados bajo el reporte de que una pelea estaba en progreso en una residencia de la Calle Glenwood. Ellos encontraron a García acostado en el sofá, roncando, y con sangre alrededor de su boca. Sin saber la seriedad de sus lesiones, autoridades llamaron a la ambulancia Hall para que lo checaran. García fue trasladado a un hospital donde se le descubrió que tenía la mandíbula rota, un pulmón punzado y una hemorragia cerebral. Según indicaron documentos judiciales. Enriques les dijo a autoridades que él y García se pelearon por varios minutos antes de que García le faltara el respeto al llamarlo una persona “sin vida” y de amenazarlo de hacer que su tío lo golpeara. Dan detalles de tiroteo entre adolescentes Dos veces en una semana, la pistola de Gregory Wisniewski fue descargada accidentalmente mientras dos adolescentes estaban jugando con ella, según documentos revelados por documentos judiciales. En la primera vez, nadie resulto herido. Pero en la segunda ocasión, un adolescente que tenia la pistola en mano en la mañana del pasado 12 de enero sufrió de una lesión en su mano, y la bala entro en el cuello de Jayden Henry Marvin Jackson. Jackson, de 14 años, fue declarado muerto en escena en el interior de la residencia de Wisniewski en la Avenida Providence, ubicada en el suroeste de Bakersfield. Wisniewski, de 33 años, fue acusado de cinco cargos de crueldad infantil y un cargo de almacenamiento criminal de un arma de fuego en primer grado, todos los cargos son delitos mayores. El ultimo cargo es relacionado con el almacenamiento de un arma de fuego donde un menor de edad tenga acceso a ella, y alguien sale herido o muere como su resultado. El debe regresar a la corte para el mes próximo. Sin el permiso de sus padres, Wisniewski recogió a los dos adolescentes, el refería a uno de ellos como su “pequeño primo”, entre las 11 de la noche y la medianoche del 11 de enero y los trajo a su casa. El dijo que el puso su mano izquierda en la cabeza de Jackson, y mientras sostiene la pistola con su mano derecha, el apunto a la cabeza de Jackson. Jackson agarro el barril de la pistola, la pistola hizo la moción de ir abajo y fue cuando se descargó. Hubo un conflicto de información de como fue que los jóvenes obtuvieron posesión de dicha arma. Detienen a dos con mas de $15 mil en mercancía El Departamento de Policía de Tehachapi ha arrestado a dos personas bajo sospecha de robo en primer grado en el centro de la ciudad de Bakersfield. Autoridades de la policía de Tehachapi indicaron que la investigación que duro un poco mas de un mes identifico a dos residentes de la ciudad de Bakersfield como los sujetos que presuntamente robaron aproximadamente $15,000 en mercancía de varias tiendas Walmart a través del Condado de Kern. La policía identifico a los dos sujetos como Arel Sonny Martínez y Amanda Nicole Méndez, ambos de Bakersfield. La investigación revelo que las tiendas Walmart que fueron robadas incluyeron las ubicaciones en Bakersfield, Tehachapi y Delano. Durante el cateo de la residencia de Martínez y Méndez, investigadores encontraron varios artículos de joyería, tarjetas de juego y equipo electrónico el cual los ponía con los robos. En el mes de octubre del 2023, tres sujetos presuntamente estuvieron involucrados en varias transacciones fraudulentas con tarjetas de crédito.
