El sindicato de profesores de Cal State promete ir a la huelga por la oferta salarial final de la universidad

Los programas de enfermería de la Universidad Estatal de California, Bakersfield, están siendo reconocidos como uno de los mejores del estado. La universidad ocupó el puesto número 7 en la lista de los mejores programas de RN en California de 2024 de RegisteredNursing.org. Veinte escuelas llegaron a la clasificación, incluidas sus compañeras de CSU Fullerton, Long Beach y Stanislaus. “(CSUB) es el centro de un programa de enfermería integral y riguroso. Con énfasis en el pensamiento crítico y la atención empática, las carreras de BSN y MSN de CSU Bakersfield ofrecen un excelente avance profesional”, dijo RegisteredNursing. org en su clasificación. Abren solicitudes para la clase de “Laboratorio Innovador” del Hub of Bakersfield EL POPULAR

El Laboratorio de Innovación de Bakersfield, un programa de The Hub of Bakersfield, está aceptando solicitudes para su quinta clase con el objetivo de hacer del área metropolitana del centro de Bakersfield un lugar más deseable para vivir, trabajar y estar. Los participantes anteriores han ayudado a crear murales públicos y piezas de arte, han creado conciertos y eventos del Segundo Sábado, han organizado campañas para salvar la estación Sumner de Old Town Kern e introdujeron una semana de restaurantes en el centro de Bakersfield. El programa ha graduado a más de 50 residentes locales. "Llamamos a los participantes 'Innovadores' porque están ideando formas increíbles para que todos disfrutemos un poco más del centro de Bakersfield", dijo Jorge Barrientos, facilitador del programa. www.elpopularnews.com “LOWRIDING” VIENE de primera página un cambio radical en el estado, presentando una propuesta de ley (AB436) que hacía que la prohibición del “cruising” se fuese eliminada y el cruising volviera a las calles de cualquier ciudad de California. “Creo que ya hace tiempo que debería de haberlo hecho”, dijo Nate Clunsell, del club de carros “SickSide” de Bakersfield. “Levantando esta prohibición hace que todo mundo pueda manejar sus carros, tal y como debería de ser”. De acuerdo con Joseph Méndez III, de “Lowrider Grind”, la ley estaba fijada en prohibir la operación de vehículos especialmente tipo lowriders, que son vehículos clásicos equipados con suspensiones hidráulicas que los hace abrazar el asfalto o brincar. Pero en los años 80 esta cultura desarrolló una reputación mala ya que la gente pensaba que este tipo de vehículos estaban asociados con pandilleros o narcotraficantes; pero muchos de los participantes del cruising, esto fue un estereotipo de las comunidades latinas y afroamericana. El propósito del “cruising” de los lowriders era de conducir lo más lento posible por las calles principales de la ciudad, exhibiendo sus carros personalizados y que fueron honorados como trabajos de arte sobre ruedas, apareciendo en exhibiciones en el famoso museo parisiense Louvre y en el Museo Nacional de Historia Americana de la Smithsonian en Washington D.C. Y ahora que la asociación con narcotraficantes y pandilleros es totalmente irrelevante, y ahora que los “lowriders” son personas que tienen un amor por la personalización, conducir y exhibicionismo de sus carros como un tipo de arte. “Yo pienso que esta ley debió ponerse en efecto hace mucho tiempo” dijo Danny Rodríguez del club de carros, Classic Dreams. “En los viejos tiempos, solíamos salir con la familia, los niños, pero de pronto asociaron cosas malas con los Lowriders, pero esto no éramos nosotros, nosotros somos una familia unida. No estamos buscando problemas, nos estereotipan, nos estaban apuntando”. Rodríguez indico que ahora se siente libre, ya no tiene que conducir a escondidas y no debe tener temor a que los policías lo detengan, le quiten el carro y le den un citatorio. “Nosotros somos más que un grupo de personas que desfilan sus carros” dijo Joseph Méndez. “Hemos hecho desfiles para ayudar a la comunidad, tales como Toys for Tots”. Rodríguez. El cuidado de estos carros es muy prestigioso, sus dueños toman el orgullo de mantener su pintura, su lujo, al invertir miles de dólares en ellos, muchas veces cientos de miles de dólares, para transformarlos y renovarlos. Muchos de ellos trabajan por meses o años detallando su más preciada posesión. En varias familias, los carros son dados a los hijos, a generaciones jóvenes, para que los cuiden, mantengan y los hagan suyos. La crítica sobre la nueva ley Sin embargo, siempre existe alguna persona que no está de acuerdo con el pase de esta ley. Muchos de los críticos han dicho que esta ley toma el control de las autoridades municipales y su jurisdicción. Y aunque la propuesta de ley AB 436 tuvo varios legisladores en su contra, los oponentes nunca sometieron declaraciones oficiales tratando de detener esta propuesta a ser convertida en ley por la legislatura estatal. Así que, ahora que los Lowriders tiene la libertad de expresarse, de menos en Bakersfield se verán cada viernes y sábado por la tarde en la avenida Chester o en otros lugares de la ciudad. Una vez envueltos en posibilidades temerosas, los dueños de lowriders ahora están más organizados, protegidos legalmente y reconocidos por su arte.

“CSU” VIENE de primera página evitar una huelga laboral aún mayor. Desde la perspectiva de Cal State, su última y última oferta concluye las negociaciones contractuales. Para el sindicato de profesores, reafirma sus planes, emitidos en diciembre, de ir a la huelga a finales de enero. “La imposición de la dirección no nos da otra opción que seguir adelante con nuestro plan de huelga en todo el sistema”, dijo el sindicato de profesores a sus miembros esta tarde. Planeando unirse al sindicato de profesores en los piquetes está el más pequeño Teamsters Local 2010, un grupo laboral de 1.100 trabajadores de mantenimiento calificados. El latigazo en los mensajes -por un lado, los aumentos, pero la promesa de ir a la huelga en busca de salarios y beneficios más altos- es otro estallido en el enfrentamiento de meses entre los líderes de la universidad pública de cuatro años más grande del país, hogar de más de 400.000 estudiantes, y el sindicato de profesores que representa a 29.000 profesores, conferenciantes, bibliotecarios, consejeros y entrenadores. El sindicato ya había organizado huelgas en cuatro campus en diciembre, interrumpiendo la instrucción una semana antes del inicio de los exámenes finales de los estudiantes. La decisión de hoy de la universidad también precede a la presentación mañana del plan de gastos del gobernador Gavin Newsom para 202425. Se espera que explique el profundo agujero presupuestario del estado, que según un análisis será un déficit de 68.000 millones de dólares. “A lo largo del proceso de negociación, la CFA nunca se desvió de su demanda salarial inicial, que no era financieramente viable y habría resultado en recortes masivos en los campus, incluidos despidos, que habrían puesto en peligro la misión educativa de la CSU”, declaró hoy un comunicado de prensa de Cal State. El 12% que busca el sindicato es una respuesta a la creciente inflación que experimentó la nación desde 2021, cuando los precios subieron y el poder adquisitivo de los cheques de pago se marchitó. Un investigador independiente recomendó en diciembre que las dos partes acordaran un aumento del 7%, además de otros compromisos. Pero una oferta de más del 5% habría reabierto las negociaciones salariales con otros sindicatos debido a los términos acordados en esos contratos, algo que Cal State ha querido evitar. “La imposición de la gerencia no nos da otra opción que seguir adelante con nuestro plan de huelga en todo el sistema”. Asociación de profesores de California A lo largo de las negociaciones, el sistema ofrecía a los profesores aumentos del 15% en tres años, pero el 10% de los últimos dos años dependía de que el estado continuara aumentando la financiación de Cal State en un 5% anual. El sindicato se opuso a los aumentos basados en las condiciones. Disputa sobre las finanzas de Cal State Desde mayo pasado, Cal State ha estado señalando que sus finanzas son inestables. El sistema dijo que en ese momento sus ingresos estaban 1.500 millones de dólares por debajo de lo que necesita para educar adecuadamente a sus estudiantes. Ese hallazgo llevó a la junta de fideicomisarios del sistema en septiembre pasado a aprobar cinco años consecutivos de aumentos de matrícula en aumento, aumentos que totalizaron el 34% durante ese tiempo. Estos entrarán en vigor este otoño, pero solo afectarán a alrededor del 40% de los estudiantes universitarios. El 60% restante de los estudiantes no paga ninguna matrícula porque recibe suficiente ayuda financiera estatal e institucional. Cal State ha rechazado ese análisis, señalando que necesita acumular sus reservas para tener el equivalente de al menos tres meses de su presupuesto operativo como efectivo disponible en caso de emergencias económicas. Actualmente, solo tiene fondos para un mes. Se suponía que el lunes sería el comienzo de una semana de negociaciones entre el sindicato de profesores y los líderes de Cal State para llegar a un acuerdo y evitar la huelga. Pero eso terminó mal, dijo hoy la dirigencia sindical en un comunicado. “Después de 20 minutos, el equipo de negociación de la gerencia de CSU amenazó con despidos en todo el sistema, se retiró de la negociación, canceló todas las negociaciones restantes y luego impuso una última, mejor y última oferta a los miembros de la CFA”, escribió Charles Toombs, presidente de la facultad y profesor de la Universidad Estatal de San Diego. Reportan robo de un tren en Old Town Kern Se dio por comenzada una investigación de parte del Departamento de Policía de Bakersfield después de que varios reportes fueran hechos sobre varias personas robando artículos de un vagón del tren el martes pasado. Elementos del corporativo municipal dijeron fueron movilizados a las vías del ferrocarril en el área de la Calle Baker y la Avenida Truxtun Oriente justo antes de las 2 de la tarde para investigar estos reportes. Conductor que causo accidente la noche del desfile de Navidad es oficialmente acusado Este martes pasado, la Procuraduría General de Justicia oficialmente levanto un acta con seis cargos mayores y un cargo menor en contra de un hombre que presuntamente condujo su camioneta bajo estado de ebriedad embistiendo a tres personas momentos antes del desfile de navidad de la ciudad. El acusado, identificado previamente como Alan Lewis Booth, de 72 años, tiene que presentarse en corte el próximo 22 de enero para dar comienzo a su proceso legal y obtener su declaración sobre los cuatro cargos de asalto con un arma mortal que no sea un arma de fuego, dos cargos de conducir bajo estado de ebriedad y un cargo menor de resistir arresto. Arnold Ríos, la victima mayor, sufrió fracturas en ambas piernas y una fractura en el cráneo causando una hemorragia cerebral, según indicaron sus abogados del bufete de Chain/ Cohn/Clark, quienes han iniciado una demanda en contra de Booth a nombre de la familia de Ríos. Sentencian a 100 años a cadena perpetua a hombre que mato a su exesposa y a su novio El hijo de Gustavo Ubaldo Soria dijo que su padre es un buen hombre, una persona que vivió su vida hasta el momento de este “incidente”. El incidente en el cual se refirió su hijo es el del doble homicidio cometido en el 2004 de la ex esposa de Soria y de su nuevo novio. Toda persona que hablo durante el juicio de sentencia el martes pasado estaba en extremo desacuerdo con los comentarios hechos por el hijo del acusado. Estela, Camacho, familiar de una de las víctimas, indico que una persona de bien no corre hacia la gente y les dispara. Soria, 53, fue sentenciado a un siglo a cadena perpetua en un reclusorio estatal después de varias personas hablaran del dolor de cabeza y de enojo que sintieron como resultado de sus acciones. Soria se declaro sin causa el pasado mes de noviembre a dos cargos de homicidio. Los hechos ocurrieron el pasado 23 de septiembre del 2004, cuando Soria condujo su vehículo a la casa de José de la Garza Jr., el nuevo novio de su

exesposa, donde le disparo varias veces mientras de la Garza se encontraba en el interior de su vehículo. De ahí, condujo su vehículo a la casa de Pamela Soria y le disparo varias veces después de que ella tratara de huir de el al entrar a su cuarto. Su hija de 14 anos fue testigo de los hechos. La hermana de Soria le dijo a la corte que ella agoniza sobre los ultimo momentos de la vida de su hermana. Al termino de sus acciones, Soria huyo a México en un carro rentado el cual fue recobrado en Tijuana. El 5 de noviembre del 2022, el fue capturado en por elementos de la Policía de Baja California y trasladado al Condado de Kern. La hija de Soria, Ashley Gonzales, dijo que ha vivido con miedo por anos, pensando que su padre regresaría y la matara también. Ella dijo que ha trabajado con el FBI desde la edad de 16 anos para localizar a su padre. El tiempo ha pasado y ella ha dejado el enojo que tiene, pero en un punto de su vida, ella estaba lista para hacer cualquier cosa, legal o no, para cerrar este capitulo de su vida. Marco Aldaco, 32, se declaro sin causa el mes pasado a dos cargos de homicidio sin premeditación voluntario, dos cargos de homicidio en primer grado y varios cargos relacionados con armas de fuego fueron desestimados. Ella se niega a reconocer el reclamo de Aldaco de que el actuo en defensa propia, notando que su hermando fue herido seis veces. Ulyses Avilés y González llegaron a eso de las 11 de la noche a un apartamento ubicado en la Avenida Lamberson en la comunidad de Lost Hills donde Aldaco se estaba quedado con su novia embarazada y su hija. La novia dijo a investigadores que ella creía que los dos hombres habían llegado a pelearse con Aldaco en represalia del asalto del tío de González. Detienen a tres por robo de alambre de cobre Tres personas han sido detenidas el lunes pasado después de que presuntamente vandalizaron y atentaron robar alambre de cobre de una bomba de irrigación en una hortaliza ubicada en el sur de la ciudad de Bakersfield, según dijo la Comisaria del Condado de Kern en un comunicado. La comisaria indico que alguaciles de la Unidad de Investigación Criminal Rural fueron alertados de un posible robo de alambre de cobre cerca de la cuadra numero 10000 de la Taft Highway el pasado 8 de enero a eso de las 7:30 de la noche. Detectives condujeron un paro de transito sobre el presunto vehículo usado en el delito, el cual salió del área donde ocurrió el crimen y estaba a corta distancia. Durante el paro, elementos detuvieron a Travis Swanson, 51, de Bakersfield, a Carl Stark, 56, y a Nicole Morris Bertrand, 46, ambos de Tupman. El rastreo telefónico resultó en la captura de mas de 86 libras de metanfetamina y un kilo de heroína. lvis Presley volverá a los escenarios y lo hará gracias a la Inteligencia Artificial. En noviembre, Elvis Evolution, un espectáculo inmersivo, traerá de vuelta al rey del rock and roll con un concierto en Londres. El responsable del regreso de Elvis Presley es la compañía Layered Reality, que recreará el show del rey del rock and roll utilizando miles de fotos personales y videos caseros del artista. Este espectáculo será posible debido a un acuerdo entre Authentic Brands Group, propietario del patrimonio de Elvis Presley, y Layered Reality. Si al espectáculo le va bien en Londres se prevé que llegué a Las Vegas, Tokio y Berlín. l Divo de Juárez fue una celebridad que marcó a todo México, por lo que una estatua a su imagen y figura no suena descabellada, pues la estatua se había convertido en uno de los principales atractivos de la zona. Ya que diariamente acudían turistas al Anfiteatro de Sinfonía del Mar para admirarla y tomarse fotos con ella, es por eso que su desaparición ha conmocionado a todo Guerrero y sus habitantes. Recordemos que gracias al paso del huracán “Otis”, el puerto de Acapulco sufrió un desastre inmenso, desde hoteles, edificios hasta estatuas, por lo que eso fue lo que sucedió. Tras el paso del huracán, la estatua del divo de Juárez se cayó; sin embargo, se sabía qué fue retirada y colocada en un rincón a espera de su rehabilitación, pero, gracias a redes sociales, se supo que ha desaparecido de su lugar.

Por lo que los habitantes y vendedores de la zona afirman que de alguna forma los extranjeros se la han llevado, a pesar de que mide 1.80 m de altura, lo que bueno, suena un poco descabellado. Pero, hasta el momento ninguna autoridad ha informado si la estatua fue retirada para su restauración, por lo que los habitantes temen que haya sido robada en verdad.

Cal South lanza la iniciativa ‘Light Up Our Dreams’ para fomentar el deporte y esparcimiento de los jóvenes en el sur de California El propósito de esta inicitiva es instalar luces en todas las canchas del Kern County Soccer Park, ubicadas en Bakersfield, para así maximizar el alcance de los programas para niños y jóvenes ofrecidos por Cal South.

al South ha anunciado una de sus iniciativas principales para 2024: iluminar los sueños de los jóvenes futbolistas de todo el sur de California como parte de su proyecto “Light Up Opur Dreams”, con el objetivo de recaudar fondos para instalar luces en el Kern County Soccer Park. El Kern County Soccer Park en este momento cuenta con luces para 4 de sus 22 de canchas, lo cual limita las horas de juego de los niños al día, minimizando la cantidad de tiempo que los niños pueden jugar después de la escuela. Al instalar luces en la totalidad de las canchas, Cal South podrá maximizar el alcance e impacto que sus programas después de la escuela tienen en las comunidades desatendidas. BPD recibe falsas amenazas de tiroteo en Walmart BAKERSFIELD, Ca. — Se determinó que una amenaza de tiroteo reportada en un Walmart en el noroeste de Bakersfield el martes por la noche era falsa, según la policía de Bakersfield. Se vio una fuerte presencia policial en el Walmart ubicado en el Paseo Noroeste justo antes de las 11 p.m. Los oficiales recibieron una llamada de alguien que se identificó como empleado de Walmart y amenazó con disparar a las personas dentro de la tienda. Los oficiales en la escena sacaron a los clientes de la tienda y determinaron que no había amenaza para la comunidad.
