Within the School of Business, the D.K. Hardin Center for Market Research offers students an immersive experience that results in the development of skills and expertise in the area of market research while solving specific business challenges for organizations.

IPCE is committed to expanding the learning environment beyond the realm of the classroom so that students can benefit from real-world business practices. As the D.K. Hardin Center seeks to provide hands-on learning experiences for students, businesses and organizations are invited to submit their marketing challenges. The result is win-win: students gain valuable, practical experience while businesses gain a partner dedicated to providing actionable solutions.

The professionalism of the students at the Hardin Center throughout the entire process made an impression on our staff and board members at Metropolitan Family Services DuPage. Their work created opportunities for us to expand our supporter base and increase awareness of the work we do across our community.

These opportunities enable students to apply classroom content to real-world challenges while fostering engagement with community organizations. For example, a partnership with Blistex allowed students to work on developing a social media strategy and an inbound digital and marketing strategy for three unique employee target groups. They were able to incorporate competitive analysis, best practices, industry and career trends, along with customer research strategies.

KLOET STUDENT-MANAGED INVESTMENT FUND

This fund, established in 2024, provides students with hands-on experience managing $1 million of the University’s endowment. In collaboration with School of Business leadership, business students are able to apply the knowledge they learn in class to analyze and value companies and select stocks to invest in.

SCHOOL OF BUSINESS MENTORING PROGRAM

School of Business students work with professional partners in our comprehensive for-credit mentoring program. Students are paired with a mentor based on their major, goals and interests.
