With over 30 events, production of even a portion of the Festival would be impossible without volunteer support. From the topiaires to the events to the promotion, volunteers serve on committees that work throughout the year to guarantee Festival fun for the community.

In addition, many serve on one-day events performing duties such as handing out water at the 5K Run, pouring wine at The SC Wine Walk or helping with vendors at the Juried Arts & Crafts Show.

Festival of Flowers is char ter ed by the Secr etar y of Sta te of South Carolina as a nonprofit or ganiza tion for the promotion of tourism in Gr eenwood County.

Topiaries and Tastings is now an event for both wine and beer connoisseurs. Though they are two separate tickets, the venues are intertwined. During the Wine Walk you’ll taste some of the most exceptional wines at our local Uptown merchants. This fun and lively wine walk includes local music at many of the stops and a great view of the topiaries. Includes souvenir wine glass-pick-up at registration. At the Beer Garden you’ll experience the locally brewed beers from Good Times Brewery. Free Admission Born in Greenwood County, Dr. Benjamin E. Mays rose to become an American Baptist minister and civil rights leader who is credited with being “the principal founder of the Civil Rights Movement.” The Historic site contains Dr. Mays’ birth home which was moved from its original location in Epworth in southeast Greenwood County.

In addition, the site has a modern museum and theater.

Visitors will find a large collection of his books, writings, films, speeches, and personal items. The third building on site is the original Burns Springs one-room African American school, originally located in Epworth.

The yard surrounding the home site is reminiscent of a 1900s era sharecropper homestead that includes a cedar post clothes line, wash pot with rinsing tubs, chopping block, tree swing, old well, an original outhouse, and a family garden.

The homestead is accented with a cotton field.

Visitors will see all the recent restoration efforts, both inside and outside of the College building. Commissioners, acting as tour guides, will discuss the Commission’s plans for enhancing access to and community use of the College and grounds.

Cokesbury College was built in 1854 and opened as one of the earliest Masonic Female Collegiate Institutes in the rural southeast. The College building and grounds are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and are maintained and managed by the Cokesbury College Historical and Recreational Commission.

Even if you’ve been here before, there’s always something new to see here. Master Gardener and City Horticulturist, Ann Barklow, has turned her entire yard into a classroom. Come hear all about planting natives, the importance of pollinators, and how to become a Pollinator Champion. If you’re interested in having a Monarch Certified garden, you can learn all about that too. You can also find out what to do with your leaves in the fall and get great composting tips.

This beautiful gateway is one of Greenwood’s crowning glories.

This small courtyard garden attracts visitors all year long. It’s small size and unique shape has many ideas to offer.
