Salomon launched their fully custom fitted shell last year to massive acclaim from retailers and skiers. This year sees the introduction of a new range using the same technology, and for first time it will be available for women. The X Pro boots have the usual custom moulded liners most brands offer, but they also have the plastic shell moulded to the skier’s feet. The result is a better fit, more comfort and improved ski control.

Many skiers are now accessing harder to reach ski spots, which often involves removing skis and hiking. Many of these skiers wouldn’t consider themselves tourers and therefore do not want bindings with releasable heels, but they do want boots that use grippy soles with deep tread patterns. This then makes the boots unsafe in regular bindings as they are too big. Enter the heightadjustable performance alpine bindings so skiers can fit in regular alpine boots for days blasting the piste, and also safely accommodate backcountry boots for days spent lapping powder.
