PRESENCE ALMANAC

Number 8! We’re entering the final days of this moon cycle and the 51st night of the Presence Almanac.
Some of my methods for organizing the chronicles have been revealed in the introductions... so here’s more:
I publish according to the moon phases (back-cover time stamp), and there’s a cascading set of parameters for selecting who is documented as a feature.
One factor is the timelessness vs. timeliness of what I see.
For example, today’s chronicle begins with a feature on MEY Gallery and their solo show of Allison Lu Wang’s Little After Sunset
Open until Sept 20 and currently located on the Sunset Strip, MEY first produced a group show named Between You and Me in Januarymy favorites were made by Ally Rae Peeples and Thérèse Mulgrew
So as 2023 nears its end, this gallery is featured as one of the spaces with a track record of amplifying talented visual artists and aiding my mission.
Promoting these organizations and publishing artwork is how the chronicles in themself are a timeless advancement of arts & culture
A timely intention is providing the real-time map of current shows, and exposing you to so many mediums and practices that there’s only one
take-away: living life as a full-time visual artist is real, accessible and happening every day.
Each layer of the almanac is designed to inspire viewers to act and be their unique selves.
Therefore, this week also features two green spaces where I’ve enjoyed reading a book, journaling and listening to the world around me.
Vista Hermosa Natural Park in the Westlake Los Angeles neighborhood and Wattles Garden Park in the Hollywood Hills are both open from dawn till dusk.
I recommend bringing a blanket and arriving in the afternoon to see how the sun sets beautifully on the trees and buildings at night.
If you feel called to live an artistic life, these parks are great spaces to clear your mind and listen to the visions that light you up.
First step is believing it’s all possible, and understanding that your life is unfolding specifically for you to experience it.
The other side of each day is simply more knowledge and information about the path you’re on.
Since there’s no going backwards, I know that today will be exactly as it will be... and it’s grounding to accept that this life is unfolding in the exact manner it’s meant to.
Thus, I’m publishing from two-week periods of my life to amplify the artists I see and promote the places and spaces where I feel present.
The 1st and 2nd Chronicles feature discoveries from January, and the 3rd and 4th are from February.
The 5th and 6th summarize March and the 7th and 8th are features sourced from April experiences.
Returning to Hollywood and the Fashion District to feature six more visual artists:
Mariam Alcantara at Tiger Strikes Asteroid
Miya Ando and Robert Gunderman at Wilding Cran Gallery
Luke O’Halloran and Braxton Garneau at GAVLAK Los Angeles
The first two months of the almanac have included a nice balance of local artists, organizations worth your attention, and public spaces to gift yourself more present moments.
