How to Export PrintReady Files from Canva for Xpressdocs

Exporting for Flawless Print Results Designing in Canva is easy, but exporting your files correctly ensures a flawless print with Xpressdocs. Follow these simple Canva export settings to guarantee your design meets Xpressdocs professional printing requirements, including PDF Print format, CMYK color profile, and correct bleed and crop marks.

PDF Print Format

Always export as PDF Print - not PDF Standard or any other file type. This preserves quality and color fidelity for professional printing.

CMYK Color Profile

Set color profile to CMYK when exporting. CMYK is the standard for professional printing and ensures accurate color reproduction.

Bleed and Crop Marks

Build your document at the correct bleed size. Do not check 'Crop marks and bleed' at export - the extra .25" on the document handles this automatically.

Step 1: Set Up Bleed and Crop Marks Step 1

1

To ensure your design prints edge-to-edge without unwanted white borders, you'll need to add bleed.

Open your Canva design. We recommend that the document size should include bleed.

LIVE AREA

For example, if your final product size is 8.5" x 11", build your document at 8.75" x 11.25". This adds a 1/8" bleed on all sides. See the Document Size Examples slide for more.

2

Click File > View Settings > Show Print Bleed to see the bleed area.

3

To ensure important elements aren't trimmed during production, move any text or images at least 3/8" to 1/2" away from the final trim edge. This keeps them safely within the live area.

4

Stretch your background and images slightly beyond the bleed line to avoid unintentional white edges.

BLEED AREA

Add 1/16” or 1/8" bleed to each side of your document size, depending on product. 5.5" x 4.25" becomes 5.625" x 4.375" 8.5" x 11" becomes 8.75" x 11.25" 3

Step 2: Export with Print-Ready Settings Step 2
