THE ROOT This community center in downtown LA is designed to celebrate the community that it supports by making the program spaces, such as the basketball court, the community art room, kitchen, and amphitheater very visible. My main design concept is to connect the community to each other and to their surrounding environment; a plant ribbon with vegetation from the surrounding chaparral biome of LA connects all parts of the building to each other and is visible from almost anywhere in the building. When the plant ribbon becomes the roof, it is designed to look like the mountains of LA to connect the community to their surrounding natural environment. This project was completed individually in the fall semester of 2021.

ACCESSIBLE MIXED USE APARTMENT COMPLEX This project was nominated for the Illinois School of Architecture Earl Prize

10

Located in downton Champaign IL, the goal of this project was to create a space that feels like home for all of its occupants. The accessible apartments were designed so that an individual with a disability and their PA can live comfortably together. I incoorporated plants as part of the shading device and maximized the balcony space for each individual apartment to help each resident feel the mental health benefits of being connected to the outdoors. This project was completed individually in the spring semester of 2021.

CHAMPAIGN URBANA FOOD GARDENS CO- OP This project's goal was to give the community a space that can be changed and adapted to fit their needs. The outdoor public space can be converted into multiple different configurations for multiple different types of events and the glass walls help create a sense of unity by allowing visibility to the center atrium and to the outdoor public space from every level of the project. This project was completed individually in the fall semester of 2020.

SHADING DEVICE PAVILLION This project used environmental analysis to create an effective shading device. The distinct shape of my project is bringing the interior elements and themes of the Natural History Building on the University of Illinois campus to the outside of the building. This project was completed individually in the spring semester of 2020.

OBJECT FOR MEDITATIVE SITTING Illinois School of Architecture Jury Finalist: Exemplary Object to Enhance Meditative Sitting Balance, both physical and mental, is at the core of meditation. I chose to create a chair that balances on itself. The only fastener used was glue to close the individual loops. This chair can be disassembled and reassembled as needed. I personally do not meditate often enough to justify having an object whose sole purpose is meditation, so I designed this chair so that it can also be used as a table. This project was completed individually in the fall semester of 2019.

MUMFORD HOUSE ANALYSIS This project focused on an in depth analysis of the historic Mumford House on the Univeristy of Illinois campus and using this analysis to create our own addition to the site. Since the site is inbetween the architecture building and the architecture annex, I made the additions with architecture students in mind. I chose to convert the original Mumford house into an architecture supply store and the underground addition is a study space that also includes a designated nap area for tired architecture students. This project was completed individually in the fall semester of 2019.
