Time to hot rod through Ellicottville for the annual Rock N’ Roll weekend! Sept. 19-21 brings the tradition back to the village, complete with a classic car show and a heavy dose of rock n’ roll! The event, sponsored by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, is sure to fulfill your need for speed and excitement, and have you dancin’ in the streets all weekend long! For starters, a weekend of non-stop entertainment is on the docket. “The places that will be hosting music for the weekend have done an incredible job setting up a terrific lineup of music,” said Chris Chapman, media and communication coordinator for the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce. “There will be a sound that is sure to satisfy everyone. The entire weekend promises great music, no matter where you go.” Head out to Balloons Friday to check out Li’l Ronnie and The Grand Dukes beginning at 6 p.m. and tune into their various styles of blues with elements of ‘50s R&B, soul, vintage rock n’ roll and jazz in a unique blend of American roots music highlighted by some mean harmonica playing. hillsides. While it’s technically still summer, fall is in the air … and in the falling leaves. Why do leaves change color? As daylight decreases in September, the trees “know” it’s time to “get ready” for winter. Explained simply, the chemical chlorophyll that keeps leaves green breaks down, revealing brilliant yellow and orange hues that were actually hidden all summer. The reds and purples you see come from anthocyanins, which are produced toward the end of summer. Lift System Ranked No. 1 for Third Year For the second year in a row, SKI Magazine readers ranked Holiday Valley fifth best among the top resorts in eastern North America.

Mansfield Identifies $340K+ in Flood Damages FEMA Payments May Take Up to 14 Weeks By Jann Wiswall
As reported in August, the Town of Mansfield’s board hired a FEMA recovery consulting firm, Simmons Recovery Consulting (SRC), to help it more accurately assess
the true costs of damage to town roads as a result of severe storms in May. During a special board meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 10, SRC shared its initial analysis and progress, noting
that, in its first 2 ½ weeks of work, it had identified an estimated $343,500 of damage to 17 of the town’s roads, bridges, drainage ditches and culverts. See Mansfield Flood page 6

Not only does Ellicottville’s famous Fall Fest weekend bring in nonstop action and entertainment, it also brings in two unique opportunities to satisfy your competitive side with the annual 5K and Mountain Bike Race.
On Saturday Oct. 11, the Fall Festival 5K Run and 1-mile Fun Walk kicks off from Holiday Valley. The 5K course takes runners down to Route 219, around Ellicottville Central School and back for the climbing finish on Holiday Valley Road, sure to get your heart pumping. See Fall Fest Workout page 11
CCIDA OKs Planned Improvement Projects HoliMont, Mallery’s and Sprague Receive Approvals By Jann Wiswall
The board of the Cattaraugus County Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) approved resolutions to conduct public hearings and preliminary SEQRs on planned improvement projects
at HoliMont and Mallery’s improvements and $100,000 Auto Body. in improvements to the power HoliMont’s General plant (e.g. installation of Manager Dave Riley catalytic converters) to reduce requested sales tax abatement harmful emissions per new on materials required for EPA requirements.
