FOUR OPEN GOLF TOURNAMENTS COMING TO HV THIS SUMMER Holiday Valley’s Double Black Diamond Golf Course will be hosting several events this summer that combine fun themes with real golf. “This ‘new face of golf’ is designed to bring excitement and variety to the traditional game with these casual and fun tournaments,” said Kyle Benish, Assistant PGA Professional at Holiday Valley. Each tournament is open to the public. “Fairway to Heaven” is a two-player nine-hole modified alternate shot event scheduled for June 12 at 5 p.m. Players are encouraged to dress as their favorite band/artist and to bring a Bluetooth speaker to play their favorite music while they golf. Cost $38 for members, $48 for non-members. Fee includes golf, cart, concert cuisine and prizes, plus a closest to the pin contest. Next, Kyle Benish and Tom Dirito invite you to tee it up at the Assistant Professional Invitational — formerly known as the Gotta Go Tourney — scheduled for July 17 with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. The format is a “6-6-6” with a combination of best ball, alternating shot and scramble. Cost $60 for members, $90 for non-members. Covers lunch and dinner, green fees and cart, plus prizes. To make things really interesting, there’s a 3-hole Super Skins shoot out for $300 cash. Proceeds from this tournament support Kyle and Tom in their continuing education as Golf Professionals. As football season approaches, the nine-hole “Tailgates and Tee Times” with an NFL theme is scheduled for Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. Two-player teams of men, women or mixed will compete in a two-person scramble including a closet to the pin contest as well as kick, throw, catch and punt contests. Entry fee is $38 for members, $48 for non-members. Includes 9 holes of golf, cart, 2 beer or wine tickets, tailgate food and prizes. Finally, the second annual 9-hole Ladies “Wine and Nine” scramble will take place Sept. 4 at 5 p.m. The format is a twoplayer scramble plus a closest to the pin contest. Cost $40 per person for members, $50 per person nonmembers. Covers green fees, cart, wine, appetizers and prizes. Last year’s Wine and Nine was the first tournament for many players, and they all had a memorable time. Call the Holiday Valley Golf Shop to sign up for any of the tournaments at 699-3939.
