A November to Remember By Alicia Dziak
November in Ellicottville means many things. From festivals to holiday shopping to gearing up for ski season, there’s no better place to spend this month! On Nov. 10 and 11, Holiday Valley hosts their annual Beer and Wine Festival. Join friends old and new for a sampling of local brews and wines. See the article below for more info. Nov. 18 is also a great time to get a jump on your holiday shopping at the 3rd annual Winter Arts Festival. This juried arts festival of fine art and artisan works is produced by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council. Paintings, prints, photographs, pottery, jewelry, and fiber arts are a few of the many original artworks that will be for sale. Shoppers will be able to visit with artists to learn more about their work and purchase beautiful one-of-a-kind holiday gifts for family and friends. For more info, visit www. myartscouncil.net. Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 23. Enjoy time with family and friends and take time out to give thanks. The following day, consider foregoing the craziness of Black Friday and spend Nov. 24-26 enjoying “Walking in a Winter Wonderland” Christmas in Ellicottville. The Village will be the background for beautiful strolling choirs harmonizing to favorite Christmas carols while the smell of hot chocolate and the sights of decorated windows in this historic 19thCentury Village brings back thoughts of a Christmas past. As daylight comes to an end, a spectacle unlike any other will appear as the village of Ellicottville comes to life in white Christmas lights and the three-story tall

Titans Take On Maple Grove in Final By Sam Wilson
With an undefeated team, No. 1 seed and regular season win over Maple Grove, Franklinville/ Ellicottville coach Chad Bartoszek still doesn’t want to think of the Red Dragons as underdogs. The defending Section 6 Class D champions, the Red Dragons (8-1) lost to F/E, 26-6, in Week 3. But Bartoszek has too much respect for counterpart Curt Fischer, who surpassed 200 career wins last season en route to the NYSPHSAA finals.

Halloween has come and gone, but before you start putting up the holiday decorations, enjoy your jack-olantern and Halloween candy for just a few more days! Read on for fun ideas for your decaying pumpkin, preparing for next year’s gourds and

Volunteer in Ellicottville
By Elizabeth Riggs
The season of giving is right around the corner. And for many, that goes hand in hand with giving a bit of extra time, or lending a helping hand to area businesses and nonprofit organizations that rely on volunteer support and services. For those who are looking to chip in around Ellicottville, there are local agencies and businesses that could use the extra support.
The Rotary Club in Ellicottville was founded on the very principle of service. With more than 1 million members nationwide, the group’s members volunteer their time and talents to try and make a difference fighting the world’s most persistent issues, such as promoting peace, fighting disease, supporting education or growing local economies. The Ellicottville Chapter of the Rotary Club meets every

Refreshingly Ahead of the Curve
By Caitlin Croft
As winter fast approaches, the air in Ellicottville is filled with excitement. Avid snowsport enthusiasts line the streets of our small village searching for that perfect piece to add to their collection. As a kid growing up just north of Ellicottville, the fall trip was always the most intriguing— see what was new at each shop
and you were filled with that sense of winter is coming, before that was some hashtag thing. One of the stops that was always my favorite was City Garage… I mean, it’s where I got my awesome pink moon boots that I will proudly admit are still in my closet. As I approached their shop, my pace would always pick up and my sister and I would
