Comedian Kevin Hart embraces upcoming live

When you’re a comedian, it’s important to laugh at yourself sometimes, too. Join A-list funnyman Kevin Hart (“Kevin Hart: Acting My Age,” 2025) as he chuckles, chortles and gasps at comments from his hottest Hollywood friends in “The Roast of Kevin Hart,” airing live Sunday, May 10, on Netflix. Hart, who boasts an impressive — and comedic — filmography, including “Scary Movie 3” (2003), “Ride Along” (2014), “Central Intelligence” (2016), “Die Hart 2: Die Harter” (2024) and more, is no stranger to the “roast” format. Previously, Hart served as Roastmaster for the “Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber” in 2015, and just two years ago, in 2024, Hart led Netflix’s roast of former NFL player Tom Brady, commanding a boisterous audience alongside Roastmaster General Jeff Ross (“Jeff Ross: Take a Banana for the Ride,” 2026).

Shortly after its debut, “The Roast of Tom Brady” proved itself to be one of Netflix’s most successful events to date, with over two million viewers tuning in to view the three-hour special live. Within its first week on the streamer, Brady’s roast earned itself 1.67 billion minutes of viewing time

(per Deadline), cementing itself as a more-than-successful format.

While Brady has publicly claimed that he “wouldn’t do that again” when asked about the roast, Hart reacted to the interest with far more excitement, offering himself up as the next subject to step into the spotlight.

While participants in Hart’s roast have yet to be announced, fans will see comedian Shane Gillis (“Shane Gilis: Beautiful Dogs,” 2023) leading as the evening’s host. As the final event of 2026’s “Netflix Is a Joke Fest” in Los Angeles, Hart’s open stage is likely to attract plenty of funny familiar faces — perhaps Nate Bargatze (“Your Friend, Nate Bargarze,” 2024), who is set to tape his upcoming Netflix Comedy special during the same event, or Hart’s longtime friend and collaborator, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” 2017).

With Hart, Ross, Casey Patterson (“The Roast of Tom Brady,” 2024), Amy Zvi (“Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year,” 2024) and Dave Becky (“Kevin Hart: Acting My Age,” 2025) acting as executive producers, “The Roast of Kevin Hart” airs live Sunday, May 10, on Netflix.

“Remington Steele” is back on the case

Famous as a launching pad for one of the movie screen’s James Bonds, the stylish detective series “Remington Steele” has much to recommend on its own terms. Initially aired by NBC from 1982 to 1987, the show has returned to regular view on Hallmark Mystery with three episodes being presented each weekday from Monday to Thursday, as Pierce Brosnan occupies the title role ... though the character doesn’t actually exist.

“Remington Steele” is the identity that sleuth Laura Holt (Stephanie Zimbalist) gives the fictional boss she invented, thinking the charade will bring her more business. An ex-con man (Brosnan) decides to step into the role, and though his experience is on the opposite side of the law, his presence proves useful to Laura – who also shares a romantic undercurrent with him. Though she wasn’t present in the first of the five seasons, a pre-”Everybody Loves Raymond” Doris Roberts plays the duo’s secretary Mildred. The great music theme is by Henry Mancini.

“Car 54, Where Are You?” (FETV, weekdays): Police work largely was treated seriously in TV’s formative years, but this 1961-63 NBC show – which boasted a highly memorable title song — put a comedic spin on the job, with Joe E. Ross and Fred Gwynne as Toody and Muldoon, patrol partners in Bronx, N.Y. Created by producer Nat Hiken, the show delved into the officers’ home lives, but it mainly showed the cops on the job as they managed to resolve criminal situations despite themselves. Co-stars include Al Lewis, who later was Grandpa to Gwynne’s Herman on “The Munsters.”
