Spectacular New Events McCarthy’s Celtic Thunder • March 7: It’s an evening of spirited Irish music and dance to help raise funds for the children. The event is held in the Rotary Auditorium, Ellicottville Town Center, beginning at 7 p.m. Commemorative shamrock, food, wine and beer included in $40 ticket. Call (716) 699-8758 for tickets. Enchanted Mountain Music Festival • April 11-13: Listen to the soulful sounds of bluegrass and roots music as Holiday Valley prepares to host the first bluegrass music festival, complete with workshops, dinners and concerts. Award-winning bands will include Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen and Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line. Lodging packages available at www.holidayvalley.com. Cycling Weekend • June 6-8: With basecamp at Holiday Valley, participants will challenge their strength and endurance on 25-, 40- and 60-mile rides over rolling, scenic terrain. Michael Israel’s “Art of Rescue” at EBC • Aug. 2: A heartpounding evening of original art created right in front of your eyes by internationally sought artist Michael Israel. Tickets are $125 and include a lobster or steak dinner to benefit Ellicottville ski patrols. It’s your chance to score an original Michael Israel painting at auction. IBO World Championships • Aug. 7-10: The International Bowhunting Organization’s World Championships return to Holiday Valley this August when thousands of qualified archers vie for the world title during the 3-D target competition. Non-qualified shooters can participate in the Holiday Valley Open taking place at the same time. Cost for the Open is $45 if you register before July 25. Eville Halloween Half Marathon • Nov. 1: Whether you’re serious or running for fun, Ellicottville is the place to do it at the first half marathon and 5K race on a route over the rolling hills and scenic back roads of Ellicottville.
