Audubon Offering Trail Guide Training Friday Mornings in April JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – After a pandemic-related hiatus, Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) is welcoming back trail guide volunteers. Essential to Audubon’s educational programming, trail guides lead 90-minute Discovery Walks with preschool through fourth grade students visiting on field trips. Serving as an Audubon Trail Guide is a rewarding opportunity. At training sessions from 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays, April 8, 15, 22, and 29, 2022, Audubon education staff will teach volunteers how to inspire curiosity about the natural world through age-appropriate activities outdoors. These four sessions will also cover how to work with different ages of children, tips and tricks to keep them on task, fun things to do outside, rainy day plans, and local natural history. This multi-day training provides new and returning trail guides with the skills to lead small groups of elementary students on Audubon’s trails to achieve the mission of a Discovery Walk: to inspire and nurture curiosity about the natural world. Information and skills learned are useful in other volunteer positions at Audubon as well. The training sessions take place both indoors and out, so plan to come dressed for
the weather. Reservations for the training are required by Wednesday, April 6, 2022, and can be made by calling (716) 569-2345 during business hours or clicking through “Upcoming Programs” at AudubonCNC. org. Experience with children is helpful, but natural history knowledge is not necessary. Holy Trinity Church Presents Annual Contemporary Stations of the Cross After a 2-year pandemic induced pause, Holy Trinity Church will present its annual Contemporary Stations of the Cross this Friday, April 8th at 7 pm. This presentation with live contemporary music and reflections from a modern perspective takes place inside the candlelit church. This inspiring event combines the traditional stations with current songs and a short reflection connecting Christ’s final journey to the Cross with the challenges we face each day in our world. Sixteen contemporary songs by artists such as Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, Josh Groban, Eric Clapton, Our Lady Peace and others follow each station and reflection. The songs are performed live by Holy Trinity’s own talented musicians and vocalists. The music brings out the human emotion of each station in Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection. This is the sixteenth year of the presentation. Each year, new songs are added and reflections are updated to bring a fresh perspective to the event. Five musicians and vocalists make the music come

The conference will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Williams Center on the campus of the State University of New York at Fredonia, 280 Central Ave. in Fredonia, N.Y. The event will include a keynote speaker, “FRED” talks and plenary sessions discussing prevention, treatment and recovery of the behavioral health challenges facing Chautauqua County and the Western New York region. This year’s conference will explore the theme, “Connecting for Hope and Healing,” focusing on shared partnerships, resources, triumphs and concerns as a community. Hope & Healing of WNY will feature Matt Bellace, Phd as its keynote speaker. Dr. Bellace has a PhD in clinical neuropsychology and is a stand-up comedian.
