Jamestown Public Schools announce traffic study, partnership A er two recent accidents involving student pedestrians near Persell Middle School, Jamestown Public Schools (JPS) and the City of Jamestown have announced a partnership to conduct a traffic study for Baker and Hazeltine Avenues. The traffic study will be utilized to determine solutions to increase student and pedestrian safety around schools.

Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Kevin Whitaker said in a statement, “The safety of our students is our highest priority. The recent incidents involving students crossing Hazeltine is highly concerning and it is important that we take action. We immediately increased supervi-

Italian-American Charity Golf Association Supports The Star Hospice House JAMESTOWN, NY – Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care is pleased to announce a generous pledge and partnership with the Italian American Golf Charity. The Italian-American

Charity Golf Association has made a pledge totaling $100,000 toward the project.

The Star Hospice House will be located adjacent to the CHPC administrative office and is expected to open

early in 2022. It will provide over 200 individuals who lack a caregiver, have complex medical conditions or can’t remain at home with a peaceful, dignified resting place in their fi nal days.

The Our House Campaign has raised over $2.8 million.

Due to pandemic-related cost increases associated with the construction, the campaign is extended to the opening of the residence. The campaign is being guided by Bert & Mary Rappole, Campaign Co-chairs, who have a long and deep commitment to CHPC’s mission.

“We are grateful to the Italian American Golf Charity for their support of The Star Hospice House,” said Shauna Anderson, President/CEO of CHPC. “The

charity has provided generous support over the years for several healthcare initiatives, and we are proud to begin this new partnership to ensure successful operation of The Star Hospice House.”

The Italian American Charity was an Idea that came to fruition in 1971 headed by 13 original commi ed men. As they celebrate their 50th Golden Anniversary much has transpired. Since inception there have been 13 Committee Chairman, 69 committee members including an Honorary Chairman, there also have been countless volunteers that have contributed to their success on a yearly basis. A yearly celebration of Italian American Heritage and good will was a unique way to establish the event and benefit a cause which continues to this day.
