Springville Art Crawl and Community Parade set for June 4th SPRINGVILLE — Experience historic downtown Springville like never before on Saturday, June 4th at Art Crawl and the Community Parade sponsored by Springville Center for the Arts and Spr ing ville- G r iff ith Schools. The Community Parade, previously hosted by the Dairy Fest, will begin at 4pm at the corner of Franklin & Main Streets. See the Shriners, Buffalo Brass Machine, Toad Meadow’s Hedgehog, fire trucks, the SGI Marching Band and Santa on his sleigh! Prizes will be awarded in categories of Agriculture, Art, and Skatepark. The parade will follow Main Street to North Buffalo, and down Franklin to Heritage Park. The Art Crawl, a juried art show that places artwork by regional artists in local businesses, begins immediately following the parade. local residents and tourists alike. Begin your adventure by grabbing a map at the welcome tent at the corner of Main & Mechanic Streets . This free event features live music, vendors, art demonstrations, installations, kids activities and more. Demos will include glass flameworking, bonsai, and plein air painting. The Public Art Corps, a group of hired local high school students, will be installing chalk art on the street. Live music includes a drum circle, a Fairy Harpist, and an open jam session hosted by Creek Bend. Kids can retreat to Art’s Underground or Revive Wesleyan at the Joylan Theater for indoor activities and crafts. The AlbrightKnox Art Truck will also be there. Decorate yourself with face painting or henna, then check out the Tappy Trailer for their photobooth and beverage station. Watch aerialist LilyLeStrange perform, then experience the unique vibes of Indonesian gamelan
music by Nusantara Arts. Main Street will be closed from 3:30 until 8pm this year for the parade and Art Crawl, allowing art-making and music right in the street. At the end of Art Crawl, make your way to the Bootleg Soiree, three floors of party in a vacant, turn-of-the-century undertakers’ and cabinetmaker’s shop. Your $15 in advance/$20 at the door ticket gains you access to special immersive art installations by MOV.E Art Collective and UB School of Architecture and Planning, a DJ’ed dance party, live music by Carina & The Six String Preacher as well as The Wazmopolitans, a video arcade and mini golf, body painting, and a cash bar. Gowanda crowns royal court for Junior-Senior Prom BY BILL PEGLOWSKI GOWANDA — Gowanda Central School held its Junior-Senior Prom on May 14. While the dinner-dance portion of the event was held out of town that evening, the coronation ceremony took place at the school that afternoon. As has been traditional at the school, all of the attendees were introduced as they entered the school auditorium from the wing areas of the
stage. Once all prom goers were introduced and seated, members of the court entered from the rear of the auditorium to take positions on the stage for the crowning ceremonies. Junior class candidates for Princess were Kailyn Farner, Jada Geiger and Shelby Weston. They were escorted by Prince candidates Mathias Arbeiter, Ben Krajewski and Tim Rasey. Senior candidates for Queen were Emma
Christopher, Amy Haggart and Charlesa Le-Tran who were escorted by Kim candidates Maddox Browning, Noah Geiger and Adam Golden.
