About Me
I am an architectural student at the University of Limerick and have just completed my third year of studies. I am currently hoping to secure relevant work experiences in the construction and design industry for my forthcoming year out. I am hard working and reliable with strong organization skills. I am an eager learner with good initiative, and I work well as part of a team. I have experiences working well under pressure and consistently meeting deadlines. I love to paint, sketch and upcycling furniture as it feeds my creativity. I am an active runner and also enjoy pilates and tennis. I love to travel and experiences different cultures and countries.

Library and Archive The buildings structure is a combination of solid stone load bearing walls and timber floors. There is a strong urban edge created by the building which is pressed against walkway. The walkway aligns itself with the row of pear trees and created a space for a building between the two. The building moves in from the strong urban edge in areas to allow for semi-public realms just off the street. This realm allows for places like a bus stop and the entrances into the library. The building is divided into two squares offset from one and other and sliced by the street. These two parts of the building allow for a divide between the quieter archive space to the west and the louder library and cafes spaces to the east.

Second Nature In first semester of third year we were given a brief that focused on designing a community center that acknowledges the existing fabric and nature of the technology park in Castletroy, Co. Limerick. My focus was on the experience of the trees at different heights throughout the building. The building itself is a universally accessible timber framed building which is raised off the ground. The building is open to the elements underneath and the timber columns blend into the existing trunks of the trees already present. This allows you to experience the trees at both ground level as you approach the building and crown level on the first floor of the building. Accommodation for workers in the technology park, a canteen and a community hall are all included in the community center.

Rural Rejuvenation In first semester of second year our studies were based on the rejuvenation of rural towns in Ireland. The focus for our studies was on the west Cork fishing village, Castletownbere Haven. My intention was to provide the local community with a connection to the sea. I hoped to achieve this by designing a boathouse and clubhouse for both socializing and recreational water activities. I was keen to ensure that the building was not a stand-alone feature but instead belong to the town and the existing landscape. I created a concrete park with varying seated steps, ramps and rock beds filled with boulders that formed a connection with the sea. The whole design was softened with the use of lush green shrubs and flowers. At the end of the semester we had a final showcase in the town and had the opportunity to interact with the locals.
