How to choose a good school for my children

When the open house season begins in schools, doubts can begin in many parents. Choosing the school for the children is not an easy task, but in addition to this, getting it right can also be an impossible mission. Many parents opt for the proximity of the school to the family home or for the money it can cost, but in many cases these aspects are not always enough, even if it is comfortable.

So, how do you choose a good school for children?

It is particularly important to know how to choose the school for the children, because after all, it is a center where children will spend much of their lives, in addition to professionals will become other of their adult references and will learn a lot from them. For some time now, parents value more that the centers have a proficient level of languages (especially English), innovative education projects, low rate of bullying, good problemsolving strategies, etc.

What to keep in mind when choosing a school for children

The most important thing to choose a school is to consider if the characteristics it offers are suitable enough for our children, if they will really help them to train successfully, if they will really be happy within those walls along with all those professionals. Then, other aspects can be considered such as family or economics. Having said that, the following aspects should also be considered. Attention to diversity, the values that are worked on, the teaching team, the economic cost, and many other aspects to consider.

The following is a story from a local Oklahoma City’ family who identified Cristo Rey High School as the right school for their son. Here is their history:

“When looking for the right High School for my son, Ivan, we were struggling to find an affordable yet academically rigorous school. Ivan attended an amazing charter school through his elementary and middle school years. Even though we were happy with the school he was attending we were looking for a school that offered a strong and consistent academic education infused within a faithbased curriculum. While searching and asking close friends with children the same age as Ivan, we were presented to Cristo Rey OKC Catholic High School. We heard amazing things about Cristo

Rey and the opportunities that students must thrive and succeed. Cristo Rey is an affordable, private, and college-preparatory high school that helps our children reach their full potential through their unique Corporate Work Study Program.

Ivan is currently a first-year student at Cristo Rey. He is fortunate to have the opportunity to experience the corporate environment through the corporate work study program our school has. Cristo Rey is preparing our children to succeed, not only for college but beyond. He has gained confidence in himself and has matured a great deal. His teachers not only focus on strong academic achievements, but they also focus on teaching him values and ethics that will help him succeed and become a well-rounded young man. Ivan has prioritized his spiritual goals such as his love for God and others around him.

As a parent with a child that is attending Cristo Rey, I would definitely recommend Cristo Rey High School to any parent who is looking for a school with values and a promising future.

I would like to encourage every parent to check the school website, attend any of the Open House or request a tour to visit the school. Cristo Rey sees our student from a wholistically perspective. This is why they provide our students with College Counseling and Social/Emotional Counseling. Anyone that joins Cristo Rey immediately feels welcome and part of the community.”
