The Name

For my bridge brand that combines A-COLD-WALL with the grunge subculture I chose the name Distortion, there are a few reasons for this. One of the main reasons I chose this name is based on the principles of grunge music. It takes three things to get the grunge sound Chorus, Reverb and Distortion. Most people will know what a chorus or reverb is, but they might not have ever heard of distortion in music.

Unwanted distortion has a negative impact on sound quality, but when used with intent it can bring a really cool sound.

Kurt Cobain himself used a distortion pedal with his guitar.

Another reason I chose the name is because the main definition of distortion is the action of altering something out of its original state. Because one of the big parts of grunge fashion is sustainability, I felt like distortion relates to taking some old clothes and reinventing them into something new. Which is what grunge did, it took clothes that were unwanted and made them cool. Sustainability is also something that Gen-Z looks for when buying clothes and Gen-Z is who I am marketing towards. The final reason I chose the name is that it doesn’t sound too far from a name Samual Ross would pick out himself. I also decided to put an asterisk on the end of the logo just to give it that Samual Ross stamp of approval.

Logo Ideas

I came up with these three logo ideas. I do like all of them, but I felt as though the middle one was staying true to something that Samual Ross would of designed himself. I used the same font that he used for A-COLD-WALL*. Then created this slightly 3-D, bubble looking logo.
