The Roller Coaster of Life

The roller coaster of life is like a complex compound With its twists and turns and ups and downs

Slow is the start like learning to crawl Progressing quickly to life’s many walls

You get to the top of the first hill anticipation is your first thrill

At the bottom you think is relief Only to find a sharp turn that challenges beliefs

Through a dark tunnel not knowing where Hang on and the good Lord will take you there

The final descent as there is in life You open your eyes and overcome strife

The wind blowing through your hair for a moment you just don’t care

The ride such as life comes to an end

You smile and reflect cause you’d do it again This month our Reader Submission is featuring an anonymous poem from an Elk River native and a special memory of last year’s HHHS Football Seniors, Coach Joey Fields, and Richard Bashlor when they toured the Elk River Communities in Kanawha County Museum. Coach Fields wanted the team to see the Herbert Hoover High School history and feel of Pride of the River. #bigfrank6neverforget
