Parks & Recreation Guide Parks & Recreation Guide

The Elk Grove Park District has earned the Illinois Association of Park District and Illinois Parks and Recreation Association’s prestigious honor of Distinguished Accreditation, an award which has been given to only 45 out of 390 agencies in the past five years. This voluntary and comprehensive evaluation process, which aims to improve the delivery of recreation services and the quality of life for Illinois residents, involved a review of all organizational departments, including Business Services, Marketing, Parks and Planning, and Leisure Services. These core areas provided documentation demonstrating successful planning, implementation of policies, practices, processes and projects to meet the program's standards.
The Park District Board of Commissioners expresses great pride in this significant accomplishment and extends gratitude to the staff, volunteers and patrons for their instrumental roles in achieving this special recognition. To commemorate the award, plaques will be prominently displayed at the Pavilion, the Administration Building, and the Al Hattendorf Center.

Blackhawk Leader and Legacy
Of the local histories written for communities in northeastern Illinois, only some of them begin with any information before the last quarter or so of the nineteenth century. For those that do, they almost universally begin by saying that the Blackhawk War happened and then the first settlers came. But what actually happened during the Blackhawk War?
Who was Blackhawk? And what about the Blackhawk statue? Join Curator, Jonathan Sebastian, for an exploration of the early history of this region in seeking answers to these questions.

The Elk Grove Parks Foundation is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization created to support parks and recreation activities within Elk Grove Village. The Foundation provides funding to programs and activities not typically supported by property taxes. Parks and recreation is an important asset to the community. It is well documented that communities with an excellent park district have lower adolescent crime rates and increased property values. Individuals and corporations are invited to support the Foundation through monetary donations or in-kind gifts. Your donation of any amount is gladly accepted at our customer services desks at the Pavilion and Hattendorf Center. You can mail your check to: Elk Grove Parks Foundation, 499 Biesterfield Rd., Elk Grove Village, IL 60007. Please contact Kelly Carbon at 847.228.3548 or kcarbon@elkgroveparks.org for more information.

This account consists of up to two adults and dependent children, under 26 years of age who reside at the same address. If there are two or more families living at the same address, where there are more than two adults over the age of 26, then two or more accounts must exist.
Elk Grove business owners, who reside outside Elk Grove Park District, but who pay Elk Grove Park District taxes, are eligible to receive a discounted business rate on Park District programs. The business owner rate is annual and equivalent to the listed resident rate, and business owners may register during the resident registration period. However, the participant is still considered a non-resident in terms of residency status. Business owners must prove ownership prior to registration.
A Waiver and Release Form must be signed when registering yourself or your minor child for Elk Grove Park District programs. Your registration is not valid without a signed waiver. To ensure enrollment, please use our online or in person registration options.
We invite any resident with an ADA accommodations request to contact ADA officer, or for programs, please contact our Special Recreation Association staff, NWSRA, upon registration, so that a smooth inclusion may occur. In addition to the programs listed within our brochure, our district also provides specialized services for people with disabilities through the Northwest Special Recreation Association.

The park district you pay taxes to will be listed. If you reside in Elk Grove Village, but do not pay taxes to the Elk Grove Park District, you are eligible for the Non-Resident Household Membership. District residents will have priority registration Resident and non-resident fees are listed with the program information. When establishing a new household account with the Elk Grove Park District, and including an online account, each resident is required to prove residency in person. This is a matter of data verification to make sure we have the most updated information in our system. Once completed, we will activate your online registration portal.
