PREVENTION, NOT PANIC!
District 30
Dear Citizens, As we continue to pray for everyone affected, both directly and indirectly, by the COVID-19 pandemic, following the guidance of public health officials has never been more important regarding the COVID-19 situation in our area. Our County and City officials, as well as employees, are working diligently to make the best decisions for our community. They are in constant contact with Tanner Health System, the Georgia Department of Health, the Regional Board of Health, as well as county and state leaders. We are asking citizens to stay at home, with only the people in your family, and to only get out in public if necessary for essential items. All public parks and facilities are closed, however, the GreenBelt remains open for use. We encourage exercise, as this
helps build up the immune system. As Governor Kemp stated, food can be ordered by take out from restaurants. Many of our local restaurants without a drive-through are offering curbside pick up or delivery options. Following the recommendation of Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Kathleen Toomey, I will be in self-isolation until March 30. I have not displayed symptoms of the coronavirus nor have I been tested, but out of an abundance of caution, I decided to take this step after a colleague tested positive for COVID-19. I will continue to, and encourage you to, adhere to all guidance from the CDC and the Georgia Dept. of Public Health. Remember, you don’t need a positive COVID-19 test to self-isolate. If you have symptoms, remember to call ahead to your health care provider (not
the emergency room) before going in so that they will be prepared. If you do not feel well, stay home from work and other social activities. Through social distancing, protecting more vulnerable populations including the elderly, and thorough prevention measures, we can stop the spread of the coronavirus. Together, we will ensure that our medical professionals can focus on treating those most at-risk. As we work together through this period of uncertainty I thought I would publicly thank all of those organizations stepping up to help. I know a lot of our communities are working to address community needs. Thank you all for looking after one another. Together, we can help reduce the spread of the virus. #CarrollCoutyGAUnited #WeAreInThisTogether
