Once a rural area, the valley is now home to many people who choose to commute to jobs on the Eastside and Seattle. The valley offers residents a variety of recreational opportunities. The ski areas at Snoqualmie pass are less than 30 minutes away, and Snoqualmie National Forest and Alpine Lakes Wil-
derness Area are near by. The local residents of the Downtown area affirm a sense of community from the walkable nature of the goods and services. You can find many bakeries, local shopping, and grocery stores in the Downtown area. Just outside of Downtown, there are a plethora of city parks where folks can hike, fish, climb, and enjoy scenic areas.
