Warrenpoint Community Carols

Revival of a tradition! Warrenpoint Community Carol Service took place at the Crib at the Town Hall on Friday 9th December at 7.00 pm. The Service was led by the five main churches in the town. The music was provided by Warrenpoint Silver Band and Saint Peter's GAA Band. Thank you to McAnulty undertakers and to all who had a key part in starting, and continuing, this event.

The Christingle Service is a very popular event in the church calendar when everyone receives a “kit” to take home. In 2022 we had two families help to show how to make the Christingles, and then the young people carried the light through the congregation. Anna, the Junior Churchwarden held the second candle so that the photographs could be taken!

The Sunday after Christmas, the Sunday School teacher told her students about an angel appearing to Joseph in a dream, warning him about danger to the baby Jesus and telling him how to escape from it. After the story time, the students were given an opportunity to draw a picture about the story. Most of the pictures were predictable, but Johnny's had an odd element in it.

"Johnny," began the teacher, "I see Joseph and Mary with the baby Jesus on a donkey, but what is that following the donkey?

"It's the flea, teacher."

"What flea?" she asked.

The boy faithfully replied, "The Bible verse says, 'Take Mary and Jesus and flea to Egypt.'"
