Behind the scenes we are getting super excited to welcome back this popular community event. This year the event is being organised with Ask For Jake, all profits made will go to this outstanding charity to keep supporting them with the great work they do within our community and further afield. Staying safe on bonfire night Devon and Cornwall Police are encouraging those celebrating Bonfire Night to remember that fireworks are explosives and should be respected. More children than adults get injured by fireworks every year and the police want to stop that from happening. In particular, sparklers can reach temperatures more than 15 times as hot as boiling water and five times hotter than cooking oil. By following our advice you can minimize harm to your family and friends. Devon and Cornwall Police’s tips for staying safe. •
Never put fireworks in your pocket or throw them.
•
Never throw used fireworks, paraffin or petrol, on a bonfire.
•
Take care around bonfires, especially keeping clothing away.
•
Make sure bonfires are out and surroundings are safe before leaving.
Misfired or partly used fireworks should be soaked in a container of water and the manufacturer should be contacted for advice on disposal. If you are putting on your own display..... 1.
Only one person should be responsible for letting off fireworks.
2.
Don’t drink alcohol if you are setting off fireworks.
3.
Light fireworks at arm’s length, using a taper.
4.
Make sure everyone stands well back.
5.
Keep naked flames, including cigarettes, away from fireworks.
6.
Direct any rocket fireworks well away from people.
NEVER go back to a firework that has been lit even if it has not gone off it could still explode. Only buy fireworks from a reputable seller. Follow the instructions on each firework and use a torch to read it. Please stay safe and act responsibly.

Warm Safe Spaces Braunton and Communities Forum and Live Well in Braunton, with the help of lots of people, are putting together details of all the voluntary groups where you can find a welcoming face, warmth, a hot drink and at some a nourishing meal. These are just some of those groups and next month, by kind permission of EX33, we will give you details of more. Braunton Library: Join at no cost. Try the puzzle, read a paper, a few hours on the computers, wi-fi, space to work/study. Various events every week: for under 5’s, stories and singing; crochet, knit and natter, craft and lego, creative writing and book club. Opening times vary, but open six days a week. Lunch at Heanton Church Hall, Wrafton: Arrive from 11.30am – 1.15pm. Every Tuesday until 13 Dec. and then from 10 Jan to end May. Shared tables, good company. Traditional roast lunch, fruit juice, pudding, tea/coffee. Cost £6 cooked and served by a friendly volunteer team. Booking essential. Lewie is a handsome six-year-old Greyhound who turns heads with his beautiful, speckled coat. He is a gentle, laid-back fella who loves to travel in the car to head out on an adventure and enjoy all the sniffs that the countryside has to offer. Lewie is instantly friendly with new people and enjoys socialising with other sighthounds. He is not used to meeting other breeds and can be a little intense when greeting, something his new family should be happy to help him with. As an ex-racer, Lewie is trained to happily wear a muzzle when out and about to keep the local wildlife safe. Lewie loves his food, treats, and home comforts.

Any time left alone will need to be built up gradually. Lewie could cope with a reasonably busy environment and would like a home with a garden.
