January 2024 H
appy New Year! Welcome to the first edition in 2024. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and had a great New Year’s Eve? We had a lovely Christmas with family and then decided to have a sea dip on Boxing Day, wow that was cold but totally exhilarating! Well I wonder what 2024 will hold in store for us all? I’m sure lots of you have made new year resolutions?? We have lots of interesting features for you this month so grab a cuppa and put your feet up. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of January, especially when the children are back at school and we’ll see you next month! Keep Warm!

FEATURE Headways North Devon is a local charity that supports people with TBI & ABI. Traumatic Brain Injury and Acquired Brain Injury Volunteers are essential to continue this service and we need your help, especially any men that have a few hours to spare once a week. You can find us at headway.org.uk/branches /north-devon.aspx We are a small social group who meet on Tuesdays at the Salvation Army Hall, Barnstaple from 10.30am to 3.30pm. Our aim is to give our clients a day away from home and their carers a free day. The clients ages range from early 20’s to 70+. They have company, support, a lovely home cooked lunch and lots of fun. During the summer season we get out and about and this year enjoyed a great day at War Horse Valley Country Farm in Iddlesleigh. This picture shows us all at the end of a lovely day on the farm having enjoyed the animals, the tractor ride and the delicious cream tea.
We try and give our clients the support to be creative during our craft sessions, play board games and discuss current national topics, like football & sports results, the news items and TV programmes for example. As you can see in this picture they all made, with the volunteers support, all these lovely pumpkins recently.
If you can spare a few hours to help as a volunteer then please contact Jo, our Co-Ordinator, on 07971 0174960. To advertise simply email lisa@insightmags.co.uk or call 07561 890 588
