Wow, is this really the last edition for 2022??

This is my absolute favourite time of the year, I can’t wait for Christmas to come round with the Carol services, Christmas parties, celebrations with the family and of course ….. mince pies and drink!

We have loads of great features for you this month including the all important Christmas posting dates (please double check these dates due to any strike action), Santa Sleigh dates and routes, and loads of festive events going on. Don’t forget the Christmas Panto, this year it is Jack and the Beanstalk.

Have the most amazing time this month. Have a wonderful, peaceful Christmas and please spare a thought for the less fortunate and help where you can. See you next year!

Help raise funds for a child close to you this winter, by hosting a Care for Kids BIG Christmas fundraiser.

Want to have some festive fun with friends and family? Perhaps you want to bring some festivities to the office? Then organise a BIG Christmas fundraising event on behalf of Care for Kids North Devon.

Whether it's a cake sale at work, quiz night at your local, Christmas jumper day at school or an online raffle, Care for Kids can help you on your fundraising journey.

Host a fundraising event for Care for Kids and you'll be supporting local families who have a child diagnosed with a life threatening illness or condition. Remember

loved ones and keep hospices shining brightly this Christmas

People in North Devon are being invited to remember someone they love this Christmas, while supporting the vital work of the region’s two hospice charities.

This December’s Light Up a Life appeal will give people the chance to come together and light a candle in memory of loved ones at a series of special church services in support of North Devon Hospice (NDH) and Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

Services are taking place from December 4 11 in Barnstaple, Bideford, Torrington, Fremington, Woolsery and, Ilfracombe. They are open to everyone, not just those who have been supported by either hospice, and will offer heartening words of remembrance, carols and readings, as well as moments to reflect and remember those who are no longer with us.

Over the last 25 years, the Light Up a Life appeal has become a firm annual tradition in North Devon, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for the area’s two hospice charities.

Emma Perry, Head of Fundraising at CHSW, said: “Christmas can be such a poignant time of year and our Light Up a Life services offer people a special way to remember loved ones and celebrate their memories.”

Ali Hunt, Head of Fundraising at NDH, added: “We would love for you to join us at one of our services this year. Your support will make a huge difference to local people supported by our hospices, both over the Christmas period and in the years ahead.”

St Paul’s Parish Church, Old Sticklepath Hill, Barnstaple Services are at 10am every Sunday, including "Seekers" for children (outside of school holiday times). All ages worship together on 3rd (& 5th) Sunday each month and children are always welcomed in at our main Sunday morning service. There is a traditional language Communion service on the 1st & 3rd Sundays at 8am, and at 6.30pm on the 2nd Sunday. Traditional Evensong is at 6.30pm on the 4th Sunday in the month. There are special facilities for the very young and for those with disabilities. Wheelchair access & loop available. Homegroups meet on Wednesdays (weekly) or Tuesdays (fortnightly). We have a youth fellowship, and we regularly host the Alpha Course.

Christian Science Society, 115 Boutport Street, Barnstaple Sunday service at 11 am with Sunday school for youngsters up to the age of 20 at the same time. Informal testimony meetings including accounts of healing are held every Wednesday at 6.15 pm.

Christian Science is a church "designed to commemorate the words and the works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing".
