Recently a plasterer came and gave a verbal quote for a job which I accepted. The work was done very well and I paid by
BACS. However, the owner of the company replied by text informing me it was £100 more as the quote was for labour only, not materials. I questioned this but when I found a review on Yell stating he did the same to another client and became threatening when asked for an invoice, I paid up.
Advice - always ask for a quote in black and white and if it includes labour, materials, VAT and no hidden extras. I have learnt the hard way!
