What is a Spoofed Phone Number? There are many phone scams out there so Its important I keep you up to date with important information regarding recent scams that may keep you or someone you know safe from being a victim. A spoofed phone number is when a caller deliberately disguises their real phone number so that a different number appears on your phone. This means a call may look like it is coming from a trusted organisation, local business, or even someone you know, when it is actually coming from a scammer. How Do Scammers Use Spoofed Numbers? Scammers use spoofed numbers to make their calls appear genuine and to encourage people to answer the phone and trust them. They may pretend to be from your bank or credit card company, the Police, report fraud, HMRC, a delivery company, utility provider or technical support services. They often claim there is an urgent problem and may try to persuade you to share personal information, reveal passwords or security codes, make a payment or transfer money. How Can You Protect Yourself? Do not trust a caller simply because the number looks genuine. Be cautious of unexpected calls asking for money, personal or sensitive information. Never share passwords, PINs, two-step verification codes, personal information or financial details over the phone. If in doubt, hang up and ideally using another phone, contact the organisation directly using a trusted phone number, verified via the organisation's official website, or obtained from genuine correspondence you may have from them in your possession. Remember The phone number displayed on your screen may not be the caller's real number. A scammer will do all they can to try and keep you on the line. They will want you to panic and act quickly. REMAIN CALM. If something doesn't feel right, immediately hang up, and then seek advice from trusted family members, friends and neighbours. What to do if you are a victim of Fraud or Cybercrime Report it immediately: Visit - UK's Home for Reporting Cyber Crime & Fraud - Report Fraud or call 0300 123 2040 If you have shared financial details, or lost money also contact your bank's fraud team by calling 159 Please share this advice with your family, friends and anyone you consider to be vulnerable. . Summer in Braunton Summer in Braunton is incredible, as a poor boy who spent summers growing up in Margate, my ideal summer is long days on the beach. As a child I would read and play, as an adolescent I would swim, now, thanks to the miracle of technology, I can sit on an amazing beach while I write this article. Writing this at Crow Point, with Instow and Appledore sitting across the water. It feels like a scene from TS Eliots “The Wasteland”; “On Margate Sands; I can connect; Nothing with nothing”. I am told that this is supposed to be a rather bleak piece of prose, but I have always taken it to be a reference to the tranquillity of places like Crow Point, or Margate, or Saunton, or Putsborough, on those magical moments when you’re surrounded by the vast beauty of the sea, sky and land and can truly appreciate our place in creation. But, I’m not a poetical person. I just know how incredibly lucky we are to live in a place like this. As we move through the summer and the crowds and air become thicker. I’m constantly reminded that we get to live in a place that other families will spend their entire year looking forward to visiting. When we walk past the estate agents in the next few months, we will see throngs of holiday makers, with their faces pressed into the glass… like Victorian children at a sweetshop… Wishing, beyond hope that they could live here in Braunton, rather than in Maidenhead, or Slough, or Guildford. We get to live in a place, that other people dream about. Our incredible surf culture, beaches, and Braunton Burrows right here, whenever we open our door. These things aren’t simply a part of our economy, they are part of the lifeblood of our community. Sometimes, in the day-2-day grind of living our lives, doing our jobs, and feeding our families; it can be easy to forget what we have here in Braunton, the incredible beauty that exists in the massive beautiful “nothingness” that surrounds us. This summer, I hope we all have an opportunity to be holiday-makers, right here in Braunton. Making sure that we’re not simply stewards of this incredible place, but that we are also people who look at where we are, from the perspective of someone new. Taking an extra moment to see across Braunton from the top of Lobb, or turn left instead of right, somewhere in the Burrows. Take a new footpath or walk a little further on the beach. There’s bound to be something amazing. Cllr Graham M Bell (rn) Devon County Councillor: Braunton Rural North Devon District Council: Lead Councillor for Housing & Homelessness, District & Parish Councillor for Braunton East

Dog of the Month - Princess Meet the ten-year-old Chihuahua called Princess, who is a gentle, senior lady looking for a loving home at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre. Princess is doing well living off-site in a foster home. Her foster carer describes her as 'absolutely adorable' and 'a girl who lives up to her name’. Princess is a nervous girl when it comes to new people and new situations, so takes some time for her to build bonds. She loves fuss and affection from her trusted humans, and will gently
paw them for more attention. Her foster carer was once a stranger and now they are the best of friends, which shows Princess just needs a little bit of patience and understanding to settle into her new surroundings. Princess likes short strolls in quieter locations. She is worried of other dogs and likes to hide behind her trusted human if a dog was to come too close to her. She is a girl who adores her home comforts, beds, cushions, naps in a sunny spot of the house, and the more glam the better! She also knows skills including sit,
paw, down, and her recall is strong. Princess’ ideal home is a quiet environment with adult adopters and without too many visitors. She is housetrained. She is looking to be the only pet in the home. She enjoys trips out in the car to get to quieter walks; short and sweet with plenty of plants to sniff. them.
If you think Princess might be the perfect match for you, please get in touch to find out more information. Visit www.dogstrust.org.uk/ilfracombe

Fudge is a 6yr old male He has been rather unsettled and not always had the best environment, so can come across as grumpy and not very approachable. He can be affectionate, but needs a bit of time, space, and patience. We think he'd be better in a home without young children and as an only pet. He would also require a safe outdoor space.
