Help protect your friends and family who are online dating by raising awareness of the signs of romance fraud.
Know a friend or family member back on the dating scene? Help keep an eye on them by raising awareness of the signs of romance fraud, it could help to protect them and their money.
Romance fraud, or dating fraud, occurs when you think you’ve met the perfect person online, but they are using a fake profile to form a relationship with you. They gain your trust over several weeks or months and make you believe you are in a loving and caring relationship. However, their end goal is only ever to get your money or personal information.
There were 230 reports of #RomanceFraud in our area between November 2020 and October 2021 with losses of £1.8 million. Nationally, there were 8,863 reports with losses totalling £91.9 million. Stop and think before parting with your money. Report to www.actionfraud.police.uk
