The Braunton Sports Directory is a small booklet that is distributed to all the six schools, G.P surgery, library and Braunton businesses. It advertises local sports clubs, activities and facilities. It gives all information about these clubs eg. location, times and contact details. With covid moving on and children ready to get back into a routine, what better time to update the Directory with all the new clubs and activities that Braunton and surrounding areas has to offer.

Lambing Season, please follow the Countryside code. Lambing Season is in full flow, and we ask that care and attention is taken controlling your dog in and around areas with sheep as well as other farm animals. Dogs by nature may want to play or chase livestock which may unwittingly cause harm. Dog attacks on livestock are costing an estimated £1.6m a year. Stay safe, use a lead around livestock. Cattle can be extremely inquisitive so if you feel threatened, release your dog so you can both get to safety separately.

Please be aware sheep worrying is an offence. It is legal for landowners to shoot dogs to protect their livestock, providing there was no other way of stopping the dog worrying their animals and they report the killing to the police within 48 hours. Livestock also includes domestic fowl, geese or ducks. Wherever you are, clean up after your dog. Did you know that dog poo can spread disease to farm animals? The Jubilee Trail Great progress is being made on the Tarka Trail behind the Anchor area in Braunton to create a more sustainable pathway which can be enjoyed by everyone in the community. One hundred and twenty trees have been planted with the help of the year 7 students at Braunton Academy as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy to mark the Platinum Jubilee. A big community ‘Thank you’ to Braunton Caen Rotary, Braunton Academy students, Braunton Countryside Centre and the Woodland Trust for making this possible. We are also pleased to announce that a children’s trim trail is also being installed by the Parish Council with thanks to Devon County Council Investing in Devon funding.

Braunton Parish Neighbourhood Plan Consultation is running until 29 April Would you like to help shape where you live?

The first draft of the Braunton Parish Neighbourhood Plan is now available and residents are encouraged to give their views. Don’t worry if you missed the consultation event in the Parish Hall on 19th March. You can still view the draft neighbourhood plan and give your feedback online (a hard copy is available to view at the Parish Council Office). If you are not online you can complete the survey which is inserted with this copy of EX33 and can be dropped back to the Parish Council office next to the library. Is sweet Toffee the one for you? Toffee is an exuberant one-year-old German Shepherd. Full of life, she is playful and fun to hang out with. She loves to go for walks and has recently gained confidence with car travel, so is happy to hop in the car to visit the beach. Toffee is keen to meet and greet other dogs, but she does lack some social skills. She has made a few friends at the rehoming centre but her playstyle can be boisterous so needs playmates to match! She is a smart girl and enjoys training, and loves to show off a ‘sit’ and ‘paw’ in exchange for a tasty treat. She is a sweet, friendly girl who is affectionate and loves a fuss. A calm and quiet adult-only home would be ideal for Toffee, but she’d love owners who can offer her an active lifestyle outdoors, preferably in a rural environment as she isn’t too keen on loud, passing traffic. She can be overwhelmed by new things so will need her adopters to give her time to settle. For now, Toffee would need to be the only dog in the home, but in the future, there is potential for her to live with another dog. Toffee would love a dog-experienced home and for her adopters to visit the rehoming centre a few times prior to adoption.
