Definitely having a wild summer and I don’t want it to end! It’s Issue 100! What has been your best Elite memory so far? I have too many! If you were the Elite editor for an issue, what would you do? I’d do a vintage issue, pin up special. I’ve had such a crappy year up til now. If you could shoot with anyone from Team Elite who would it be and why? I’ve been lucky enough to shoot with Tripodski and ATOM, but I’m dying to shoot with Dark Moon Media, I love his work so much. We had an opportunity recently ,but I couldn’t make the group shoot due to work.
If you were the Elite editor for an issue, what would you do? Do a really dark gothic horror themed mag for halloween. Who has been your favourite model of 2018? I don’t have a favourite, I love perving on all of them. What do you like most about Elite? The confidence it gives women and shows us that different girls are beautiful in their own skin.

Hey Abbey! What was it like to work with the photographer on this shoot? Great! Sunshine is a friend of mine, it’s always a pleasure to work with her, she’s the main reason I model now actually! What was your favourite part of the shoot? It was really impromptu, I had never shot in the water before so it was a brand new experience for me. If you could model for any brand, product or company, which would it be and why? I would love to work with a highend designer, my dream would be to work with Dior, but I’d be over the moon to

work with someone like Jeffrey Star Cosmetics. I love fashion, makeup and lingerie, in no particular order haha. Are you excited for what’s to come in 2018? What do you have planned? I think the excitement I have for this year is that I don’t really have many plans other than building my brand and working on self improvement. What’s your go to favourite movie? Pfft, Mean Girls, every time.

If you could spend summer anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would want to go somewhere completely different to anywhere I’ve ever been, maybe Hawaii, maybe Thailand, I’d flip a coin.
What’s your favourite part of your body and why? All of it. On a scale of one to ten, how good looking are you? At least a 6. What’s a guaranteed turn on for you? Hardcore amateur porn, of course. Describe your perfect photoshoot: Somewhere lush and green with rope swings and waterfalls and treehouses that overlook all of it. Who has been your favourite model of 2018? I’ve been obsessed with Raquel Reed. She’s a goddess. Who is your ‘model to look out for’? Fishball Suicide is absolutely killing it. Where has been your favourite place to travel? Honestly? I don’t have a favourite place yet, I just love seeing new things and traveling anywhere and everywhere. What do you like most about Elite? I feel like Elite is just about having fun, and it’s really refreshing. Finally, is there anything you would like to say to the Elite Readers? Just thank you for taking the time to get to me and thank you for supporting Elite so that ladies like me can continue to do what we love.

If you could listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be? I think I listened to Coheed and Cambria’s ‘In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3” for about a year straight, so let’s go with that.

HEY SYNATRA, WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO WORK WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER ON THIS SHOOT? THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME WORKING WITH SUNNIE, I WAS SO EXCITED AND SHE WAS SUCH A DREAM... THE LOCATION, THE VIBES - IT WAS AN AWESOME DAY! 54

What was your favourite part of the shoot? The sunset that night was pretty incredible! Even if you weren’t shooting, you got to watch another babe do her thing in a roof top pool, while the sky was painted this perfect pink and orange shade. If you could model for any brand, product or company, which would it be and why? I would love to shoot for Camp Out Magazine, and Playboy. I’d also love the chance to write a column in a rock mag like AltPress! Are you excited for what’s to come in 2018? What do you have planned? I’m super excited for 2018, it’s the closest I’ve been to achieving some major goals with my brand @shop_stitched_x_stoned, and I recently went back to school at FullSail University to get my bachelors degree in Entertainment Business! I have some time off in November and I’m hoping to get out to LA to dance at Bar Sinister again, and to visit the SG house! What’s your go to favourite movie? Goodfellas, forever. If you could spend summer anywhere in the world, where would you go? Oooooh so many places haha, but Bali has been on the top of my list for a while now! If you could listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be? Dispose by The Plot in You. What’s your favourite part of your body and why? I’ve defo worked the hardest on my butt hehe. On a scale of one to ten, how good looking are you? Is this a trick question haha. I’m pretty happy with myself most days... compared to my middle school yearbook pics I’m totally a ten. What’s a guaranteed turn on for you? A lengthy appetiser menu, I love snacks! Describe your perfect photoshoot: I have always wanted to do a desert shoot in a super fancy outfit, followed by some artsy nudes!

Who has been your favourite model of 2018? Alysha Nett has probably been one of my favourite models forever... she’s definitely put a lot of work in this year! What do you like most about Elite? 58
Who is your ‘model to look out for’? Christina Chaos, I recruited her for SG and I cannot wait until she shoots her first set! Where has been your favourite place to travel? I think San Diego has been my favourite so far, I haven’t left the country yet, but I hope to soon!

Inspiration is important to you, be it music, film or books. What is inspiring you at the moment? That’s so hard as there is usually so many things inspiring me at once. Are you a homebird or someone that prefers a night on the town? Definitely a homebird. I don’t hate going out on town. I definitely think there are times when I need to let my hair down. But these days I love to stay home and have a few drinks, food and a movie. I’ve done the whole going out every night, getting off my face on alcohol thing. I’m so over it. It’s been a pleasure Charlotte. What are you up to after this interview is done? I’ve got to ring my bank and then book my car in at the garage. I should have said something like ‘taking over the world’ shouldn’t I? Oh well.

You are without a doubt one of the most beautiful people we have met! Have you always thought you wanted to model or did it just happen? I kind of did. I was super skinny when I was younger. I was picked on for being so skinny and was called ugly sometimes. I saw that fashion models were slim like me and thought maybe I would do that. Then the bewbs and bootay sprouted and gave up on that idea. It wasn’t until I was about 19/20 until I considered doing glamour. But waited until I was 21 to really go for it. I never would’ve thought it would take off like it did. I figured it would be something I’d do for a bit of fun for like a year. But here we are, and it’s been a blast. I love it.

89
It’s our 100th issue! What has been your best Elite memory? Oh my goodness! There’s been so many. It’s hard to pick just one. The trip to Ohio we all did probably is my all time fave. A funny memory that will stick in my mind forever is when we shot in a house where the owners left a little too much on public display. Oops. What are your hobbies? I love Archery, I haven’t done much this year as I’ve been so busy. But I love it and miss it when I can’t do it. I have an American flat bow. It’s a more tranditional style bow. I have to be a bit more careful these days too, I damaged my rotator cuff doing archery a few years ago. Every time of the year seems exciting for you. You’re always up to something. When is your chill time and what do you get up to? Chill time? What’s that? I try to take an hour or 2 out of the day to just chill out and watch something on TV. These days I can’t just sit and do nothing all day. I used to be a master at it. But these days I just find myself getting bored. I have to be doing something. I guess I’m a bit of a workaholic. Photographer: ATOM
90
www.eliteonlinemag.com
You have one of the best butts going! What is your personal fave body part? I do love my booty. But I also like my eyes. Mostly because they seem to confuse people about what colour they are. I have hazel eyes and I guess in a different light they look a different colour. I’ve had people say they love my ‘big beautiful blue eyes’ or they tag a photo of me with #browneyes. It’s fun. With that in mind, which person do you think has the best butt at the moment? Oh my god! That’s so hard. There’s so many booties that I admire. For now I’ll say Riae & Milloux! But there are seriously so many. What would be your favourite moments of 2018 so far? 2018 has been crazy. I’ve shot with ATOM and Tripodski so much this year. We had our trip to Chicago. So many amazing moments and I can’t wait to make more. What’s next for you? It’s looking likely that I will be attending MCM Comic Con in London at the end of October this year selling my own merch and doing signings. It’s crazy.

Welcome to Elite, for those who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself: I’m 21 and I’ve been modelling for about 5 years, and I’ve had some amazing shoots.. from being covered in chocolate and custard, to tight corsets, to girls twerking upside down in a corridor! I’m also a bit mad, nutty, and I really really like food. What was it like to work with the photographer on this shoot? Shooting with ATOM was amazing as always! We always have so much fun and get banging images... and I got to duo shoot with the sexy Raven Wynter!

It’s Issue 100! What has been your best Elite memory so far? Definitely meeting my amazing girl gang Aemelia Fox, Maddison Myers, Laika, Peachhes, Titch (Rouge), Raven Wynter!! Are you excited for what’s to come in 2018? What do you have planned? Lots of big things! I will be moving house finally to be closer to all my friends, this means I can shoot more, meet more people and just enjoy life without the stress of commuting. If you could shoot with anyone from Team Elite who would it be and why? Would love to shoot with Erica Fett! It would be rare I would get to meet her as she’s in the US, but I think she’s amazing. A girl can dream!

If you were the Elite editor for an issue, what would you do? A lesbian theme! Because we all love g/g action! Who has been your favourite model of 2018? It’s so hard to pick just one!! Can I not just pick every one in my girl gang? What do you like most about Elite? Getting to see lots of fit girls run around naked... ok no seriously just the shear positivity everyone has, we all promote each other, it’s really like a little community of families!

Hey Blink! Welcome to Elite, for those who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself: Hello! Thank you for checking out my shoot with Elite! I’m a new hopeful SuicideGirl and nude model currently travelling the world! Originally from the North East of England, I moved to Melbourne 10 years ago. Although I love Melbourne, Newcastle will always be my home first and foremost! I love all things skate and pop punk, my dream is to spend a year in California! My all time favourite band is Blink 182, which is why I chose the name Blink when I was creating my SuicideGirl profile and modelling instagram. I’m quite awkward and shy in person. I’m happiest when I’m in the company of cats or at a gig!

Are you excited for what’s to come in 2018? What do you have planned? 2018 has been huge for me! I quit my job in Melbourne, started modelling and camming. I started my patreon page and I’ve spent three months travelling the UK and Europe! It’s been such a full on year with so many fantastic memories. I can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store for me! Fingers crossed I make it to America to shoot some more incredible content. What’s your favourite part of your body and why? After years and years of hating it I finally really like my butt! The first set I ever shot I insisted that I couldn’t have any photos of my butt looking big. Since then I’ve finally learned to appreciate a big booty. I also really like my doe eyes. If you were the Elite editor for an issue, what would you do? Tricky. I’d host a model sleepover party with all the girls and get them to take selfies as well as shoot a massive multi! Who has been your favourite model of 2018? Nayru is so so dreamy! I love all of her sets and I think her tattoos suit her so well. Nayru In red lingerie is divine! What do you like most about Elite? I love that Elite celebrates the diversity of women. All the Elite girls are uniquely beautiful rather than conventional.

If you were the Elite editor for an issue, what would you do? I would get everyone drunk and ask them their most embarrassing story and have them act it out like charades and shoot that instead. Hey Heather! Welcome to Elite, for those who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself: Hey everyone! Well I’m 25 and a Yorkshire lass based on the beautiful city of York. I have been working with Elite for a couple of years, and I love it. I’m slightly obsessed with keeping fit and working out, and currently in the process of becoming a PT! What was your favourite part of the shoot? Well I did a 12 week training program for this shoot, and I was strict with what I was eating. So the best part was the feast we had after the shoot. Food is life! And having a good catch up with ATOM because it had been like a year since I last saw him!

It’s Issue 100! What has been your best Elite memory so far? My best Elite memory is probably when I worked with Ashlea Cormack, ATOM and Tripodski. Ashlea is so creative with her ideas and she is a waking piece of art, so it was great to do something a little different with her. Are you excited for what’s to come in 2018? What do you have planned? I will be a qualified PT by the end of the year, so I’m looking forward to getting into a new career. Also to push myself and my body more. So if you are into working out, then keep an eye out on my IG for fitness tips. I also want to work with as many photographers as possible, this year and the next. Who has been your favourite model of 2018? Whaaat! Too many to pick just one! Here we go... @peaches_sg @aemeliafox @stevie_dagg @kawaiikeshiaa @killpop_sg @nikitacaslida @ maddison_myers and so many more. Wow, just wow! Babes! What do you like most about Elite? I love that they feature woman of all shapes and sizes. You do not need to be a size 2 and 6ft with a big rack and tiny waist! NO! England is in the middle of a heatwave, a massive rarity in this country. But less rare is the excitement and pure joy that 2000 Trees brings to thousands of music fans every year. This year is by no means an exception as it sees Upcote Farm host the festival for three full days for the first time ever. We start our day off in The Cave watching SHVPES peel out their riff based rock and metal to a steadily filling tent as frontman Griffin Dickinson prowls around the stage and brings the energy early on. Early on our agenda is the return of Vukovi. Last year saw their set be a bit of a shit show after coming on so late they barely played a set at all. This year however, not only are they on time but they play an absolute corker of a set to a huge crowd, fully redeeming themselves. Another band who are bringing the party are Turbowolf, who are getting their groove on under the searing sun at the Main Stage. Despite having a heavily pregnant bassist and a crowd which seem to be hearing of them for the first time, the four piece rock and roll like no one else. We’re sure this won’t be the last we see of Turbowolf at 2000 Trees.

Palm Reader provide us with one of the outstanding sets of the weekend, hands down. The band got to play last year as very very last minute replacements for Sløtface and they were great then to a half filled tent but now with a proper slot and a large crowd we get treated to a band on the top of their game after releasing their best work to date in Braille. Thunderous, powerful, in your face and sounding better than ever. Ending their set with drummer Dan and vocalist Josh both crowd surfing to the powerful end of ‘I Watch The Fire Chase My Tongue’. Sauntering over to The Axiom stage we catch a little bit of Press To MECO who impress with their technical abilities and vocal harmonies that sound glorious bursting out of the confines of the tent and into the sunshine here at 2000 Trees. Brutus were an amazing find last year and really gained a lot of fans last year as is evident by their crowd today. Nearing the end of their Burst album cycle they entertain once again, not nearly as tight or impactful as last year but still impressive nonetheless. Boston Manor get the crowd surfers started and revved up for the weekend as they return like heroes to Upcote Farm with their catchy pop punk influenced alternative take on British rock as they get set to release their new record Welcome To The Neighbourhood in the next few months. Arcane Roots impress on the Main Stage sounding mighty with expansive passages, technical nous and a field of punters who hang off every single note and word uttered. Next up on the Main Stage are the blistering Marmozets. Since their return at the start of the year, Marmozets have just kept gaining momentum, and rightly so. They’re hard work and passion is evident throughout their live shows and they are tighter than ever. After this we witness the destruction and outright carnage that Turnstile bring over from the US for the hardcore fans in attendance to let off some steam to. From start to finish it’s a nonstop feeling of mutual love and respect both on and off stage as everyone gives everything they’ve got to make this one of the most memorable sets in Trees history. We head into the end of our first night at 2000 Trees by seeing the return of the almighty Black Peaks. They play to a packed out tent of fans who give as much ferocity back to the band as they are giving out themselves. Vocalist Will Gardner has never sounded better as he looms over security guards, growling and serenading every crowd member as he goes. It’s exciting to have such an incredibly talented band back on the scene and if tonight proves one thing, it’s that Black Peaks still mean business. Which finally means we get to the first of our three Main

Stage headliners. At The Drive In have been lauded and loved by many playing on these stages today and owe their seminal album Relationship Of Command a lot of credit. The excitement is tangible in the crowd and the band do look more up for this than on previous live outings but its another night where we spent our time wishing for a performance from the old days we’ve heard so much about.
2000 trees fe

Friday arrives and its straight to the Neu Stage to catch buzz-band Nervus. With songs about equality and strength, they build the hopes of a crowd of adoring fans beneath them. With funky moves and a story to tell Nervus are definitely ones to watch in the coming year. Bristolian’s Phoxjaw come next over at The Cave and deliver half hour of alt rock riffs, shirtless antics and a high energy presence that surely leaves a lasting impression on many inside the tent. Chapter and Verse provide soaring vocals and a tight performance over on the Main Stage and follow up Croydon crew Bad Sign do what they do best and shower us with riff after riff and Joe Appleford’s strong and impassioned vocal delivery and gold star in between song banter. Excellent stuff. Fatherson then take things down a notch and politely plod along on the Main Stage as the heavens open for the only time during the weekend to dampen the mood even more so with their dull showing. Back in The Cave, Holding Absence are about to take the stage. Their crowd is far more enthusiastic than anyone seemed to expect and it is obvious why they are so loved. Their unique sound and powerful presence means they’ll only climb higher and higher up festival bills in the future. The same can be said for the infamous HO99O9 who play one of the most eclectic and bizarre sets of the weekend. Their niche mix of rap, metal and straight up alien weirdness causes absolute mayhem and will certainly go down as one of the most memorable shows of the weekend. The Forest brings all a feeling of peace and calm from the rest of festival, until you arrive to see Jamie Lenman. This crowd isn’t loud or boisterous, but it is packed from hedge to hedge, literally like a tin of sardines. If you managed to get in you would see Jamie Lenman, 2000 Trees alumni and legend, perform one of the best sets this weekend has to offer. With everything from covers of Madness’s ‘It Must Be Love’ to acoustic versions of his own ‘Bodypopping’ and even a sprinkle of Reuben’s ‘Freddy Kreuger’, Lenman does not disappoint. Especially ending his set on a very poignant song written about the festival itself. Long Live Jamie Lenman.

When you want to rip a hole in the face of the Earth, who should you book? Creeper, that’s who, because tonight they headline The Cave and bring an Earthshattering set of the old, the new and even some Meat Loaf too. The crowd is joyous as it is chaotic and every person on the stage is brimming with pride and emotion. Creeper have always been heralded as a fantastic live band but they just keep getting better and better. Maybe there’s a headline slot on the Main Stage for them in the near future…Headlining the Main Stage tonight however is Twin Atlantic. Having played this stage before they know exactly what they are doing and bring a cool and slick set to a very loving crowd. Before Friday is over there is just time for one more trip to The Forest to see the beautiful La Lune. She plays to a crowd of spaced out festival goers who are enjoying the tranquility of the fairy-lit surroundings and the lullaby nature of her voice. She plays a very short and understated set but her vocals are truly breathtaking; the perfect way to end a great second day. Saturday begins and its safe to say we’re not ready for 2000 Trees to end! Its back to The Forest for the first part of our final day and again, we’re back to being squeezed in sardines. There’s no complaints though as not only are we getting acoustic treats from The Xcerts, but from Enter Shikari too. The Xcerts are up first and they pull on the heartstrings of every soul in the place. They play a dusting of old classics before vocalist Murray McLeod, climbs his way through the sea of people for a very intimate rendition of ‘Slackerpop.’ Its safe to say that Rou Reynolds of Enter Shikari has a tough act to follow. He begins with quite a few sound issues which he tentatively jokes his way through, but all is forgiven when he gives us heartfelt renditions of ‘Undercover Agents’ and ‘Radiate’. As if these Shikari favourites weren’t enough, he hits us with Gary Numan’s ‘Cars’ and David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’. Its special, really special, and it’ll go down in 2000 Trees history for sure. After all the emotion of our morning, its time to party our way through Saturday’s fantastic line up. The Axiom plays host to the groovy riffs of Demob Happy, who despite having one of the smaller crowds of the weekend, play an exciting set of boppers. Cove do meat and potatoes melodic hardcore well and remain memorable in a scene where so many have fallen by the wayside. On The Axiom stage next is Dream State, a real buzz band of the last 18 months or so and what

they do they do well as frontwoman CJ gets up close and personal with those in the front row and then atop a overly excited punters shoulders and into the pit. One of the sets we’ve most been looking forward to finally arrives as we get to spent some time in the sunshine with The Xcerts and just have the best time singing and swaying along to tracks off Hold On To Your Heart along with some older material. Murray sounds immaculate and manages to plaster smiles across the entire population witnessing this special band on the Main Stage. Following that is Basement laying down the angst and sadness in the happiest way possible, playing to a surprisingly alert crowd for a final day in the sun! Their set is full of everyone’s favourites and it’s evident from the growing crowd that Basement are everyone’s favourite find of the weekend. Now one thing’s for sure, it’s not a party until Skinny Lister arrive, nor is it 2000 Trees without some shanty punk. Skinny Lister have people flocking to The Cave as their set begins and there’s no wonder why when you see the joy this band spread. Whilst they’re not everyone’s typical cup of tea, there’s not a body in sight that isn’t moving or smiling (there’s a guy down front dosie-doing in a Palm Reader t-shirt…) Asides from the sheer fun of it all, this band gets everyone talking to one another and making new friends, and really, that’s what 2000 Trees is all about. Bringing the best weekend of the year to a close are the epic Enter Shikari. It’s no secret that these four boys put on one of the greatest live shows around today and it’s therefore no surprise that they absolutely crush their headline slot tonight. Not only do they bring a fantastic arsenal of tunes (‘Shinrin-Yoku’, ‘Anaesthetist’, ‘Anything Can Happen…’, ‘Juggernauts’, just to name a few), medleys and remixes (hello Faithless’s ‘Insomnia’) but they even bring quadrophonic sound, and to be honest, it is ridiculously grand. Pulling the biggest crowd of the weekend, Shikari do not disappoint and we can only be left wanting more. Enter Shikari are destined for the big time, here’s hoping for an even bigger headline gig in the future! And just like that, 2000 Trees is over for another year. Whilst many party on until the early hours of Sunday morning at the silent disco, we can sit back and reflect on what truly is the highlight of the year. 2000 Trees is a festival to pay attention to. Is it time to go back yet? Words by Alice Hoddinott & Joshua Clarke Photos by Joshua Clarke

Tonight’s five band musical marathon begins with the trio 99% Cobra, and I’m 99% sure they will leave me regretting my walk to town...how very wrong I was! They may be new, but like many new bands that express the peaks of passion which many similar bands lose after time. Brilliant stage presence, imperfectly chaotic performance and huge beats twice their size. Following on from the previously surprising performance are local rockers Hinges. I use the ambiguous term “rockers” because the broad range of influences they emit makes them more difficult to define than Sam’s relationship with Frodo. One moment it’ll sound like a classic Foo Fighters verse with Placebo style vocals, which will then lead into a chorus with the same giant sounds of Trophy Eyes and Black Peaks. Their music is well written and catchy, if you see their name on a poster near you, go get a ticket and be ready to discover a new favourite.

Three bands in and I’m starting to feel like my tinnitus is wearing off, thank god Cove showed up or else I’d forget what relentless screeching that keeps me up at night sounds like. They don’t offer much in the way of imagination, but what they lack in creativity they over compensate for in eruptions of angst. They are to music what Diogenes is to Athens: zero class, highly obnoxious but everyone loves them. The penultimate act of the evening is two-piece Haggard Cat. Another band that can’t be easily defined as one thing, but imagine the sound of two angry drunks let loose in a music store in Texas. Simple yet intelligent, classy and rabid all in one. The big heavy beats compliment the disjointed stylised guitar performance, topped off with a wonderful bluesy vocal tone. It’s been a long night but the headliner has finally graced us with their presence. Touring their latest album Braille, Palm Reader are expected to be at the top of their game. A brilliant selection from the last two albums are slapped across the faces of everyone with eyes to see, each song performed with the skill and presence of a band you’d expect to find in a venue 10 times the size, it almost feels like an injustice to see them squeezed onto the tiny stage. In this genre it’s very easy for vocalists to aim for passionate power but completely miss and land with dull rage, Palm Reader on the other hand have perfected the emotive tone. Not just the vocals are expressive, the drums are beaten with the force of a hammer, the bass smothers the listeners and the guitars scream like maniacs just incase someone at the back isn’t listening. The whole performance feels like a very intimate battle, an assault on senses and preconceptions of what metal should sound like, but this battle has no white flags and nobody surrenders. “and now, the end is near…” After more than 20 years Kevin Lyman has decided to put an end to the beloved cross country run of the Vans Warped Tour. The gruelling yet ever so rewarding punk rock summer camp has been pivotal in breaking bands in our scene we know and love today from the likes of A Day To Remember, Blink 182, Avenged Sevenfold and All Time Low, all now arena headlining bands. Many bands cut their teeth on Warped Tour and have been back again and again to have the best summer of their lives over and over. Eagerly awaiting for the gates to open we can tell that today is going to be a special day with the anticipation levels reaching sky high. 11am arrives, the gates open and we make our way over to the Mutant Red Dawn stage to see Ice Nine Kills start us off. Their brand of metal they’ve titled Theatricore isn’t as hilarious or cringey as it sounds as frontman Spencer Charnas jumps and prowls around the stage and gets out in peoples faces on the barrier and then on top of the sea of people before him. There’s a lot of energy in their music yet the musicians remain fairly static, not surprising seeing as their dressed ready for halloween with Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees wielding guitars. After that we shift to the right to the adjacent Mutant White Lightning stage that starts literally seconds after the Mutant Red Dawn stage ends. So now we get to enjoy Unearth in the blistering sunshine and the sun isn’t the only thing on blistering form today. Veterans of the hardcore and thrash world and they throw themselves around more than many of the younger bands on the tour today. Their music is pummelling and incites circle pits left right and centre. A very fun 30 minutes.

Getting into that real Warped Tour vibe now we head to one of the two main stages and catch State Champs on the Journeys Left Foot stage. Another high energy set as the crowd go bananas for the New York state boys and look right at home on that stage in this environment as the crowd surfers come piling over. British boys Don Broco draw a pretty decent crowd over on the Owly.FM stage and bring their charm and unique sound to capture the attention of everyone in attendance and curious passers by. ‘Stay Ignorant’ is buckets of fun live and makes this reviewer feel like he’s back on home turf singing along to the lyric “sink some beers, watch the match”. Warped Tour looks like it’s definitely been beneficial to them as they head to their merch tent after the set and spend an age taking pictures and meeting new fans. August Burns Red were one of the bands making a special return for the final blowout and hit up a few dates. Veterans of the tour and an all round great band with their flawless live performances melding their impressive technical abilities and a sense of fun, never taking themselves too seriously makes for an effortlessly joyous occasion. Now there aren’t many bands who have done the full cross country Warped Tour more times than Every Time I Die, and there aren’t many bands who can change their set lists up everyday and still play 30 minutes of undeniable bangers. Every other band after this might just as well not play as not only do ETID play the best set of the day, they easily play one of the greatest sets I’ve ever seen them play, and I’ve seen them A LOT over the years. Even Keith’s voice sounds phenomenal today whereas sometimes the stress and strain of touring has taken its toll on his delivery, but not today, not nearing the end of the tour, himself and the guys are still going strong. Sharptooth are up next and are all about the nastiness. Their music is nasty and their messages and lyrical content condemn the horrible things that happen in this world. It’s all about unity but identifying and bringing to justice those who do wrong. It also helps that they are insane live and barely stand still for half an hour. Also shout out bass player Phil Rasinski for noticing that a girl in the crowd had passed out during their second song and got the show stopped so she could get medical attention. Luckily she came round pretty quickly and was alright but the band went one further and got her a chair to sit on on the side of the stage in the shade away from the sun with a bottle

of water. 10/10 from an important and vital band. The Amity Affliction come and go with their clean/ heavy, screaming/singing dynamic that they’ve build their reputation upon whilst we head over to watch Limbs perform on the Full Sail stage. A relatively unheard of band over in the UK but luckily we are in the minority in the know. The Tampa natives have a lot of friends before them today and put on quite the show for them and everyone else. Their style of post hardcore suits this event well and their ability to carve something different and interesting into their songs makes for a terrific 25 minute set with the likes of ‘Father’s Son’, ‘Abba’ and older tune ‘Poison’ to tear a hole in the Warped Tour fabric. Suddenly after Limbs’ set everyone is told that the day is on hold for now and to head into the stadium where we made our entrance to shield ourselves away from the incoming thunder and lightning. Luckily this passes within 20/30 minutes and doesn’t affect the day too much. Motionless In White play next on the Mutant White Lightning
stage (how fitting) and are clearly fan favourites today as their crowd is enormous and knows almost every word. Still in this heat they come out in their dark gothic attire and with full make up as well, not even the heat can break their aesthetic. We round off the rest of the day in typically pop punk fashion as the one and only New Found Glory treat us to the hits we know and love and ones that they’ve played countless times before on Warped Tour but ultimately got them to the position they’re in today. Smiles plastered across all faces and even a toddler with ear defenders on chimes in on the good times and dances around. They were there at the start and now they’re back to see it off, Pennywise return for the finale and come out as heroes. No fuss, no thrills, just pure punk rock and the almighty sing-a-long of ‘Bro Hymn’ to cap off a wonderful set in the Florida sunshine. We head back to the Owly.FM stage to catch St.Albans crew Trash Boat who get every last ounce of energy and sweat out of the crowd as they blast

through their emotionally draining hardcore laced pop punk. More abrasive and less saccharine than a lot of other bands on the bill and you just know vocalist Tobi Duncan means every word he says and how much they mean to him. Closing out the day on the Journeys Left Foot stage is Chicago pop punkers Knuckle Puck. The mix isn’t the best and is a little all over the place but you can’t fault their effort or the tracks they play as the sun sets on Warped Tour and just like that, it’s all over. Coming from the UK seeing videos of Warped Tour seemed like it was the best day of the year and we finally get to experience it and it really is. The full cross country run may be done with but the Vans Warped Tour will be back in a different guise again next year. One things for sure after all this time, they’ve done it their way, and no one can touch them or take that away from Kevin Lyman and the team. Words & photos by Joshua Clarke

Boston Manor - Welcome To The Neighbourhood Pure Noise Records | Release Date: 7th July 2018
Nothing - Dance On The Blacktop Relapse Records | Release Date: 24th August 2018
Boston Manor have had a fairly successful and enjoyable few years since releasing their debut album Be Nothing back in 2016, they’ve headlined sold out shows across the UK throughout that time, played festivals all over, toured America and even did the full run of Warped Tour last year. All of that was possible and achieved from a pop punk band from Blackpool with a little something different added to their sound. That something different is the standout between their debut record and Welcome To The Neighbourhood. First things first, the album and single artwork are dark, not just in how they look but the themes involved in them. This is a perfect representation of what direction they’ve headed into on this new release. Everything’s darker, there’s no happy upbeat pop punk going here, they’ve shifted into an alternative British band with a sour atmosphere surrounding them. ‘Halo’ is probably the closest they get to their sound of old but the likes of ‘England’s Dreaming’ is pure sleaze and a real vibe piece. The band were too afraid to experiment anything drastically last time as they thought they knew who they were but this time around that is certainly not the case as this sounds like a completely different band. The change is radical and with each listen it seems like its one that they’re pulling off, just about. Once these changes took effect its very clear that they indeed found some sort of identity and powered through to make Welcome To The Neighbourhood. Every song is meticulously crafted and theres something different in every song. It’s a daring and bold move from such a young band to try this much this early in their career but they’ve started something and we’re interested to see where it goes from here.
Nothing are back with their third full length record, Dance On The Blacktop is an important one for the four piece as Tired Of Tomorrow amazed fans and critics alike with it’s swirling guitars, pretty production and just out right great songs. This new release will hopefully push them into the eyes and ears of the world and allow them to showcase everything that is Nothing. ‘Zero Day’ starts off clean and builds into the albums lofi sounding production whilst still having enough clarity for the guitars and individual parts to shine through. Bristling with character and Domenic Palermo’s soft and delicate vocal delivery this builds on the blueprint that was Tired Of Tomorrow and adds distortion to thicken out the walls of sound they create so well. ‘Blue Line Baby’ is straight out the 90s playbook with swathes of low end guitars to fill it all out. There’s still plenty of hooks and passages to sink your teeth into especially on ‘You Wind Me Up’ with its head tilting delivery and undeniably catchy chorus, albeit brief. ‘The Carpenters Son’, a song about Palermo’s father is all about the build and ethereal nature that courses through its almost 8 minute run time. This album is abrasive yet not aggressive, tender but not fragile, retro but refreshing. A band who made a name for themselves in the underground may not be underground for much longer. Emp!re - Glue Silent Cult | Release Date: 7th September 2018
Bury Tomorrow - Black Flame Music For Nations | Release Date: 13th July 2018
Since forming in South West England in 2012, Emp!re (Empire) have slowly but surely been making a name for themselves with their exciting brand of alternative rock through their early releases and live performances.
This needed to be a big moment for Bury Tomorrow, they’ve solidified themselves as one of the bands who will put any headliner to the sword in terms of live performance and after the success of the stripped down to bare bones, no nonsense approach to Earthbound the five piece needed to come back with a step up in every department…and boy have they delivered. ‘No Less Violent’ opens with a subtle false sense of security before the thick textured and mid tempo riffs come in to tear your head off all over again and leads into the fast paced and relentless ‘Adrenaline’. One thing is clear listening to Black Flame start to finish is that vocalist Dani WinterBates has come on leaps and (earth)bounds in the last few years. We noticed during the touring cycle that he had his own little tricks and approaches to his live performance, adding his nasty, full throated flavour to the mix and its something that has been put onto this record and really see’s him shine through as an individual in the world of metalcore where bands can become indistinguishable. Jason Cameron and Kristen Dawson have produced some of their best work on the fretboard as well with cutting razor sharp attacks bleeding into the melodic blueprint effortlessly to create a soundscape for Cameron to lay down his career best clean vocals. The rhythm section made up of Davyd Winter-Bates and Adam Jackson lock in and groove along better than ever before, once again something Bury Tomorrow have had throughout their back catalogue but throwing down some of the biggest head bang moments of the year. The one song that encapsulates everything just mentioned is the standout ‘More Than Mortal’, complete with the pit chant “No more heroes, no more saviours, no more gods, just betrayers ahh fuck”. A knockout release from the band who were on the brink of going away a few years ago, now who knows what their future holds.
The overall feel of the band’s debut offering, Glue, seems to be Coheed and Cambria-meets-Templeton Pek style music partnered with the soulful vocals of front man Joe Green reminiscent of Steve Ewing (The Urge). This mix is quite refreshing and even unique. As interesting as both the vocals and musicianship are, Glue seems to follow a blueprint and production style that make the songs less appealing and generally harder to differentiate compared to their previous work. The majority of songs tend to start well, like the explosive intros of ‘My Party My Rules’ and ‘Feasts’, but there’s not enough in the verses or choruses to hold one’s attention. Things do pick up in the latter end of the album with ‘Time Is A Healer’, ‘I For 1’ and ‘Sour Taste’. While the former two impress with their enticing rhythmical patterns and Green’s vocal range, Sour Taste is Glue’s pure rock-out track, with it’s catchy chorus making it possibly the best song they’ve done to date. Emp!re are definitely a band to watch and could garner great success with Sour Taste alone, however Glue as a full record doesn’t quite showcase their full potential. Words by Jonathan Miller

PVMNTS - Better Days Self Released | Release Date: 17th August 2018
Trash Boat - Crown Shyness Hopeless Records | Release Date: 20th July 2018
After the success of their online-streamed demo, Jumping Stairsets, PVMNTS are showcasing their hard work with their debut EP, Better Days. Produced by Kyle Black (known for his work with New Found Glory and State Champs), there’s no denying the immediate expectation of both new and old-school pop punk influences.
Trash Boat have been one of the more promising prospects from the UK’s world of pop punk in recent years ever since the explosion of Neck Deep went global. Having a harder edge with influences ranging from hardcore to the more thought provoking emo world, the St Albans five piece created a terrific blend of the two on debut Nothing I Write You Can Change What You’ve Been Through. This formula carries on throughout Crown Shyness whilst the first few tracks have that rougher edge but have been married with even bigger choruses and hooks this time around.
The EP has been cleverly curated by the trio, having worked on it for almost a decade, long before PVMNTS became official in 2016. The heartfelt and slower single ‘Standing (On My Own Two Feet)’ having been written during the time of vocalist and guitarist Tyler Posey’s mother passing, the song promises a hopeful and empowering message about the way you let situations effect you. ‘Another Monday’ is instantly recognisable as having influence from the likes of Man Overboard and New Found Glory, with the shouting, vocal effects and basic guitar riffs needed to make it a staple, generic pop-punk song for the band. ‘Heavy Moon’ offers something different with harsher guitars and faster drums, the raspy vocals of Tyler Posey and Freddy Ramirez gelling together like a new puzzle. The heavier bridge brings intense guitars and unexpected screaming, proving that PVMNTS are definitely one to watch out for. Words by Emily Young

‘Inside Out’ is a great opener whilst first single ‘Shade’ has that bounce and emotionally charged connection that vocalist Tobi Duncan conveys so well. The whole album pretty much follows on in suit however the title track is an acoustic number that breaks up the album well and shows a maturity in their songwriting that is more than welcome. Crown Shyness definitely feels more thought out with each song being carefully crafted unlike their debut that felt more loose in it’s playing and structure. However when the quality and ideas from a band such as Trash Boat are this great we love them both just the same. The lyrical themes are still extremely personal but don’t come across as whiney or deliberate like many of their peers, this is a real look inside someone battling their demons on record and on stage every single day. WSTR - Identity Crisis Hopeless Records | Release Date: 31st August 2018 WSTR have made a reputation for being the pop punk support go to band for the past two years or so and have also spent that time sat in the gigantic shadow of friends Neck Deep. Coming back with album two can they make the shift out of the shadows to cast one of their own and indeed overcome this identity crisis and strike out on their own? Opener ‘Tell Me More’ is your standard WSTR song with an upbeat sounding chorus and that pop punk bounce that is abundantly evident in their songs. ‘Crisis’ and ‘Bad To The Bone’ follow up and are delivered by vocalist Sammy Clifford in a snotty, brat like style that add a bit of attitude and a juvenile behaviour to the record. From the opening trio its clear WSTR can knock out choruses for fun but finding each songs identity is in its versus, is where this record struggles at times. ‘Promiscuous’, ‘The Latest’ and ‘Fling’ all deal in the same ball park of lyrical themes, relationships, girls, heartache whilst adding ‘See You In Hell’ to the list as well. Closer ‘Riddle Me This’ picks things back up and gets us back on track but far too late on with the biggest hooks. Identity Crisis may be being applied to the individuals in this band but its far clearer that WSTR need to find something thats theres to stand out and we’re not quite sure they’re there just yet. The car which is known as Blue Thunder was given to me as payment for another job and was a two owner car which the person had originally got for parts. I quickly decided to make Blue Thunder an old school street machine so took the hub caps off and kept the plain steel wheels and then I turned to the gearbox which I rebuilt and added a shift kit to it and we checked the diff where we found factory installed 4:11 gears in it. The engine we originally dyno’d at 180BHP which was pathetic so I serviced the engine and then turned to modifying it but using old school techniques so I stripped the heads by hand and rebuilt them and altered the valves by hand and the springs by handand skimmed it by hand not using machines just time and patience and then installed a Holley double pumper from a 1983 Mercury Capri drag car which we have and then changed the body on the carb to a Pro Form body and then put a custom open exhaust system on it and installed a new ignition system using some new old stock (NOS) Mallory parts and then spent a week just fine tuning it and uses premium unleaded petrol with a special formula we mixed and took it to be re-dyno’d and it came in at an impressive 520BHP. I would also like to mention it still runs the stock cam and crank and pistons and heads (but like said the heads have been modified), intake manifold and also factory AC which is working and has had a push start system fitted and a K&N electric fuel pump installed. When you build the revs up and chuck it into 1st the car wheelies so we have to detune it to make it run lumpy when taking it to shows just so it can be driven normally on the public roads. We also took it to the Motor Show Events Big Weekender in Essex last September where it won an exhaust off competition for loudest car and then also won Best Loud & Proud trophy at the same show it also won loudest car at this years Straight Outta Kempton show. It sets off car alarms all the time this and things like the trophy is why it got the nickname Blue Thunder and will be a permanent Wild & Sons vehicle which will always be evolving over the years but sticking to the old school modifying theme we did on Blue Thunder and will never be for sale.

With this year being the 25th anniversary of Jurassic Park we thought we would show you some of the Jurassic Park replica vehicles which Wild & Sons build and work on here in the UK. The two vehicles you see in Jurassic Park are either a Ford Explorer which are the tour vehicles or the Jeep Wrangler YJs which are the staff vehicles. Wild & Sons offer replicas for both if you would like to own one or if you would like to hire one Wild & Sons can also arrange that. The Ford Explorer tour vehicle pictured is one which Wild & Sons did the paint work for last year for a YouTuber and was also used as the official promotional vehicle for the new video game Jurassic World Evolution and is currently doing the roof conversion and interior conversion to be film accurate with some special effects included to make it 100% screen accurate. Jeep number 18 was also done by Wild & Sons for the same YouTuber and is 100% screen accurate. Jeep number 29 is a fan built Jeep which Wild & Sons look after and repair and is not screen accurate on the interior but is very close overall and has taken Wild & Sons on some great adventures including the opening of the largest dinosaur maze in the world located in York and to the UKs only Hooters. The un-numbered red Jeep pictured will be number 92 and will be built in to a Jurassic Park replica by Wild & Sons and used as a work vehicle and tow vehicle by them. Follow Wild & Sons on one of their social media outlets to see more on the progress of the Explorer and of the Jeep 92 project and more adventures in Jeep 29.
