President Trump, his supporters and those who praise him and his policies are quick to point out that the nation’s jobless rate has fallen to 3.6 percent.

My answer to their praise of the president is not so fast! The jobless rate may be low, but one of the reasons for its current state is that many people in our society have stopped looking for employment.

These are the forgotten Americans who have been pushed beyond the margins of our society, whose families have not benefited from the Trump tax cuts and whose futures are bleak because of the economic direction that Mr. Trump seems to favor.

For the first time, Miss USA, Miss America and Miss Teen USA are all black women

By Kendall Trammell, CNN (CNN)For the first time, America’s top beauty pageants -- Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss America -- have crowned black women as their winners at the same time.

And that’s a big deal if you know pageant history.

Beauty pageants early in their histories, some dating back to the 1920s, barred women of color from participating. Even after organizations began changing their rules to accept women of all races, there was still a lingering frustration and opposition to join.

Only in the last 50 years have black women become more prevalent in these competitions.

Vanessa Williams was the first black Miss America in 1983, and Carole Anne-Marie Gist, the first black Miss USA contestant, was crowned in 1990. The following year Janel Bishop became the first black Miss Teen USA. So when Cheslie Kryst was named 2019’s Miss USA on Thursday, she became part of a historic trio, along with 2019 Miss Teen USA Kaliegh Garris and 2019 Miss America Nia Franklin.

Here’s what you should know about these three women:

LAST NIGHT AT THE NAACP meeting. How to get the vote out and how to get the community to hear the vision of the Marvin Earle next Mayor was the hot topic for discussion. A novel idea come about..

Maybe all those who have the best interest for the community and not their brand or the attendance to a political forum should unify and come under one banner of solidarity...

This is how it use to be back in the Separate but Equal days of the Movement. All the groups and organization’s came together for the benefit of the people and not for themselves.

This is a great example of groups coming together for a mayor’s forum... see attached PDF.. they seem to know how to unify!

Economic development does not mean one race build, design,construct and the other race serve as the customer consumer.

LOW VOTER TURN OUT:Issues should unify a people not divide. People are not voting because they feel nothing is getting done. Same old Same old is alive and well. One side is wining and the other side is loosing.. People feel our leaders are not leading and they are selling out and making money off of oppression and problems.

Some candidates are social media only..

Why is unity such a hard pill to swallow in some communities???? THE NAACP AND PAUL QUINN COLLEGE is seeking to have such a forum for the people and for the voters in a section of Dallas that needs the most support, Vision and Explanation for the next 8 years. Unity is a great idea.

Dallas, TX - In a surprise victory Adam Bazaldua (pronounced Baz-Al-Do-a) came in as the front runner for the general election for Dallas City Council in District 7 - in the most crowded race the district has ever seen.

District 7 is Dallas’ most diverse district: it includes Fair Park, South Dallas, Joppa, Parkdale, Dolphin Heights, Buckner Terrace, Far-East Dallas and Pleasant Grove. In 2017 Bazaldua came in 4th place, in an also crowded race; making his first-place victory this year so unexpected. When asked why he believes there was such a significant jump in voter approval of him this year, Adam responded “I believe the voters of D7 are ready for a representative they can relate to.”. Bazaldua has been a district 7 resident for more than 6 years, where he works as a DISD teacher and is raising his family; he calls himself “The working class candidate for a working class community”.

Dan Williams was born December 26, 1945 in Hallettsville, Texas to the parentage of the late Dan Williams and Alberta Clay Williams. He attended public school in Edna, Texas where he graduated, On August 6, 1967 he married his devoted wife Mary J Armstrong. Minister Dan Williams received Christ in 1980 a Lighthouse Church of Go in Christ under the late Superintendent Edward Calloway Sr., where he served faithfully until he was physically unable to attend. He served as a deacon for many years and was licensed as a Minister in February of 2005.

Dan Williams departed this life on April 29, 2019 those that proceeded him in death are his Parents Dan and Alberta William, Brother Marvin and Kames Williams, sister Barbra Williams.

He leaves to cherish his life and legacy; his wife, Mary J. Williams; five children, Timothy(Cassandra) Armstrong of Rockwall, Texas, Faye(Lyndon) Saulter of Dallas, Texas, Just(Michael) Johnson of Frisco, Texas, Anthony(Francine) Armstrong of Glen Heights, Texas and Rodney(Melissa)William of Forney, Texas; Thirteen(13) grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; four(4) brothers, Lester Williams, Eddie Williams, Billy WILLIAMS AND Thomas Williams; sister, Ezell Cross and close cousin, Paula Cunningham, and many other relatives and friends.

Endorses Carolyn King Arnold For District 7 City Council EARLY VOTING May 22- June 4th ELECTION DAY June 8th State Fair of Texas Awards Nearly $1.25 Million to Texas Students DALLAS, TEXAS – May 2, 2019 – Since its establishment in 1992, the Big Tex Scholarship Program has continued to uphold the State Fair’s nonprofit mission of supporting agriculture, education, and community involvement.

Looking forward to another year of supporting Texas students through college scholarships, the State Fair honored its Dallas-area 2019 scholarship recipients at the annual Big Tex Scholarship Awards Luncheon today. New recipients and their families gathered at the Tower Building in Fair Park for the event, with Pete Schenkel recipients hailing from six Dallas Independent School District (DISD) high schools in the Fair Park area and Seasonal Employee recipients hailing from across the DFW metroplex. Awarding a total of nearly $1.25 million in new college scholarships in 2019, the Fair recognized 85 Pete Schenkel Scholarship recipients from DISD and seven Seasonal Employee Scholarship recipients, in

addition to 111 Youth Livestock Scholarship recipients from around the state who could not be in attendance.
