KING” and “THE LAST STAND”. Let’s get right into the message. Do we truly recognize the season we are in? Are we fully aware of the historical magnitude of what is taking place? Why do we put or trust in man and government? Our trust has been mis-used, misplaced and taken advantage of by our leadership. Remember “A Fish Rots from The Head Down. In the Bible, back in Genesis:11 man thought he could erect a ‘Tower of Babel” which was an early day of the ‘One World System’ BUT GOD stepped in and confused them. Now we have the Sons of Perdition thinking they can do the same, their darkened, reprobated minds will fail also, however, loads of peeps will be taken down with them because of the peeps trust in the institutions and the men who run these institutions. Just like in Genesis, the governments and banking systems are now one, though they pretend not to be. They put on a facade to fool and mislead the people. This is the New World Order that has come, their main goal is to kill, steal and Justdestroy.like in the days of Babylon, so shall it be again. Man trying to become GOD, and reach HIM through their own attempts, and ghastly deeds. With the help of the beast, they are given the outlines of how to set up this New World Order, so that it will be WITHOUT GOD. In Psalms 2:1-6; it states: and I’m paraphrasing ‘Why do the nations and the kings conspire and band together. They have installed their king’: REALLY! Who is their king it must be the beast? This evil is like advanced cancer that spreads uncontrolled through the body unfortunately most of the peeps don’t believe the real cure for this cancer that is spreading throughout the world. They only see the elections of man to be the answer to the cancer that is now consuming the world. Ole foolish Sons of Perdition and peeps of the world when will you ever learn? Not government, not elections at the ballot box or who you install in office , nor the banking cartel with their bold face lies can save us from this Cat 7 Cyclone. We the peeps have been deceived because we put our trust in a fallen, corrupt and deceptive system. Now we have to face the consequences of our misguided actions. It will only go from bad to worse quickly.

It’s not a secret that children are expensive. Making the effort to make sure their needs are met can often mean that you as a parent must go without. In a situation where parents are unmarried or divorced, it is even more important to make sure that both of you are on the same page when it comes to providing for the children involved.

Now to our religious leaders of all faiths, decisions must be made now. Many have been blinded because of their unbelief. They have cared more about the things of the world, and their hearts have become hardened. many are apostate, and know it not! They think all is well, and fine with their souls, but they are deceiving themselves and their sheep. They have followed the way of Baal the false shepherd and have been led many astray as they teach a false narrative. Now to the those who have eyes to see and ears to hear. “Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away Continued on page 4

State Representative Yvonne Davis (D-Dallas) announced the signing of the final resolution which will allow the City of Dallas to receive a $20 Million grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Representative Davis secured the funding, during the 3rd Called Special Session of the 87th Texas Legislature, as part of the Coronoavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund with the passage of Senate Bill 8. “The grant will help fund several key public service initiatives that will benefit the communities not only

If you are the parent that your children live with and you need help providing for them, you can request the court to intervene. You can take the other parent before a judge and request that they pay you child support on that child’s behalf. If the court finds child support appropriate, a ruling for child support will be made based on a percentage of the net wages of the other parent. You will then be granted the exclusive right to receive that child support on behalf of the children until further orders from the court. But what do you do when the other parent refuses to pay, or refuses to pay on time? There is an action you can take called enforcement. What it allows you to do is petition the Court, to hold a party not obeying the order to be responsible. Based on the agreement between Representative Davis and the City of Dallas, the grant will be used to support a comprehensive program to enhance parks & trails, support workforce development, health and wellness, assist community activity facilities, as well as educational and cultural programs.

So now we must know we have reached a turning point not only in the world but also in our Churches, Synagogues and Mosques of the world who did not wake up when the Sons of Perdition brought on Chucky the Planned-Demic which brought on falling economies, global conflicts and turmoil, famine and darkness. Know that our world leaders and the peeps are still asleep at the wheel. Now the shaking has begun and everything that can be shaken will be shaken.

Now to those religious leaders who have not fallen away, and have eyes to see and ears to hear a great awakening will occur, as the earth is in travail. The Young Black Lawyers’ Organizing Coalition (YBLOC) is a nonpartisan, communitycentered movement of young Black lawyers and law students working to protect and empower the Black electorate through voter education and strategic advocacy. The national organization works in collaboration with Black grassroots communities to fight for full access to electoral democracy and realize a full electoral voice. As part of the ongoing grassroots effort to protect and empower the Black electorate, YBLOC filed an amicus brief in LUPE, et al. v. Abbott, the federal lawsuit that challenged Texas’s voter suppression law, Senate Bill 1. The brief outlines how Senate Bill 1 harms Black voters and the civic organizations that serve them.

It was brought to my attention that a racist challenge coin was attempted to be circulated by a Dallas Police Officer on social media. Dallas Police Officers along with many community members are extremely upset with this level of insensitivity from a Dallas Police Officer. This act has been considered blatantly racist to the African American Community. Officers and communities are asking the question, is the way white officers view African Americans and the Black Community. Is this the only vision they have of Black people? There are too many good things happening in the southern community for this to be the only way they see us: UNT dallas, Gilliam School, Paul Quinn, Golf Club of Dallas, Bishop Arts, the rebuilding of Red Bird. The references in the coin represent a drug dealer called Dough boy who has gold teeth, an AK-47 in hand, a stack of cash in the other, a purple car with large gold rims and the Big T Bazaar along with the patrol beats for this area. These are all negative descriptors of the predominantly African American part of town we call Oak Cliff. The BPA will not stand for any level of racism against its officers, employees or community and will continue to fight these types of discrimination against our community without fail!

“Since COVID started, we really haven’t had the chance to have a lot of excitement about pretty much anything,” Carter senior Stephen Brock said. “It goes deeper than just the city. It also goes to people’s hearts.” Deeper because it gives these student athletes from South Dallas a chance to make their communities proud. A chance to make Oak Cliff shine. Proof of the possibilities in their lives, Brock called it. “This game right here, it will prove that we made it a long way,” Brock said. “You can go places. You can do things, you know what I’m saying. And it’s not even about the game. It’s life, “Bothperiod.”teams are going to come out and show how proud we are of Oak Cliff,” said Kimball Head Football Coach Bam Harrison. So, as the Oak Cliff Super Bowl resumes this Saturday at Kincaide Stadium, realize it’s more than just a game. But, with plenty of trash talk part of the promise too. “I ain’t gonna [sic] lie to y’all. There’s a gonna be a lot of disrespect too,” Brock said. “But at the end of the day, it don’t matter who gets that trophy. It fills our heart with joy that we can play this game.”

Win or lose, Oak Cliff is positioned to be the winner “Kickagain. some tail. Kick some tail,” said Dallas City Councilman Tennell Atkins, directing his attention to several football players from Carter High School. “The band is already fired up, and I can only imagine how it’s gonna [sic] go down on the field,” added Dallas City Councilman Casey Thomas, who has Kimball High School in his “Kickdistrict.some ‘A’,” Atkins joked, as he rooted for the Carter Cowboys from his corner of the Thecity. 32-year rivalry between Kimball and Carter, on hold for the last two years, resumes this weekend. The so-called “Oak Cliff Super Bowl” comes with Oak Cliff bragging rights and a sizeable trophy. “We have no doubt we are going to come out victorious,” Carter Head Football Coach Spencer Gilbert said. “And the trophy is going to stay on my desk where it is right now.” But after all that trash talk, a Carter defensive lineman stepped up to the microphone to paint a much bigger picture of his Oak Cliff pride.

John Wall signed with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this offseason after years of struggles, and he seems ready to talk about just how low he Salvation Army event in his hometown of Raleigh, N.C. earlier this month, the five-time All-Star revealed that he contemplated committing suicide during a stretch of time in which he tore his Achilles and his mother and grandmother died. Video of the interview started circulating on Monday. After being asked about the Clippers’ outlook this season, Wall alluded to being in “a dark place the last couple of years.” When asked to expand on that, he said: “Darkest place I’ve ever been in. At one point in time, I thought about committing suicide. Tearing my Achilles, my mom being sick, my mom passing, my grandma passed a year later, all this in the midst of COVID at the same time. Me going to chemotherapy, me sitting by my mom taking her last breaths, wearing the same clothes for 3 days straight laying on the couch beside her. “Looking at all that, I’m like ‘If I can get through this, I can get through anything in life.’ I don’t like to brag about it, because everybody goes through stuff. We all went through tough times, nobody’s got it easy. But I don’t think a lot of people could get through what I went through.”

John Wall has had an awful few years Few players in the NBA have had a more turbulent three years than Wall, who has played only 40 games since the 2018-19 season and hasn’t played more than 50 games in a season since 2016-17. Here’s how his career has gone since signing a supermax extension with the Washington Wizards in 2017: • missed two months in the 2017-18 season due to a knee surgery • missed nearly three months in the 2018-19 season due to a heel injury • developed infection in his heel from a surgery • missed the entire 201920 season after tore his Achilles on a slip at home • traded to the Houston Rockets for Russell Westbrook • missed the final month of the 2020-21 season with a hamstring strain • held out of 2021-22 season so Rockets could use their younger players And that’s just the basketball stuff. His mother Frances Pulley also died of breast cancer in 2019 and his grandmother died in 2021. When you look at all that, it’s hard not to root for him to revive his career with the Clippers. Wall might be 31 now, but he’s on a team that will surround him with talents like Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Norman Powell and several effective 3-point shooters. The set-up should make things easy for any point Wallguard.will certainly have people rooting for him, including LeBron James and former teammate Bradley Beal.

Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba issued a Water System Emergency Order this week after the city's "numerous" attempts to fix the issues with its water system. Lumumba said recent flooding created water pressure problems and difficulties with "treating water at the O.B. Curtis Water Plant," according to the order. Lumumba said that until the problems are fixed, the city will not have "reliable" running water for many of its residents, meaning they won't be able to "reliably flush toilets, fight fires, and meet other critical needs." Sanders, who became head coach of Jackson State’s football team in 2020, said the crisis has also affected his players. The ongoing water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi, has led to Jackson State University football players moving into hotels as they try to continue their "We'reseason.hitwith a little crisis," JSU coach Deion Sanders, an NFL Hall of Famer, said in a post on social media on Tuesday. "The city of Jackson, we don't have water. Water means we don't have air conditioning. We can't use toilets. We don't have water. We don't have ice."

According to the Clarion Ledger, Greenville Mayor Errick Simmons invited JSU players to play and stay in the city, with business leaders agreeing to provide housing and food to the team. Greenville would also provide a practice field to help JSU prepare for their upcoming game on Sunday against Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Miami. “’Love,’ ‘thank you’ and ‘appreciate you’ to everyone that’s flooded us with messages, that desires to give us donations, that just want to ride with us,” Sanders said in a video posted to Twitter on Wednesday. “You have no idea what that means to us. You are unbelievable.” Lumumba said an incident command center will open on Tuesday that will begin distributing water to residents, Mississippi Today and CNN reported.

“It has turned into a football game which is always entertaining. The battle of the bands adds an extra special element to the game.” Glieber admitted that with an audience of over 50,000 people game attendees are getting more than just a football experience. “When you bring that number of people to the State Fair, they are coming for more than just the game. They are going to show up a few hours in advance of the game, staying for the game and staying afterward as well,” he said. “It is very nice for our vendors, especially because all our vendors that participate at the fair are independent and all the concessioners and ride operators are independent contractors. Therefore, the game is a great business for them.”

The economic impact of the game and other festivities is enormous, according to Glieber. “From an economic impact standpoint, I know that the Dallas Sports Commission has done a study that shows the game not only has an impact on the State Fair but the community at large. We have visitors coming from different parts of Texas and Louisiana to come to see the game. When these people come into town, they are benefiting the city of Dallas and the surrounding hotels and restaurants that are in the city as Accordingwell.” to the study done by the Dallas Sports Commission, the classic has an annual estimated economic impact of $8.5 million for the City of Dallas.

In 1964, Little Bob’s BarB-Q became the first Black-owned food vendor at the State Fair. In the 1980s Smokey John’s BBQ joined the now growing list of Black-owned food “Thevendors.monetary impact from the game is huge for the city. Typically, it generates about $8.5 million from the 55,000 plus fans that attend the event. When you start breaking down that $8.5 million and where it goes a lot of it is coming through vendors who are at the State Fair,” said Blair. In an effort to increase entrepreneurship, Blair is currently working with a few businesses that started out at the State Fair and are now working on getting brick-andmortar Cominglocations.outofthe pandemic, the State Fair will still be making history with Black-owned businesses. This year Roz Stafford-Grady will be the first African American to have a cigar lounge at the State Fair, with her Cedar Hill-based business, Smoking Jacket Cigar Lounge. “I was overwhelmed with excitement to make history as a Black business owner at one of the biggest state fairs in the world,” said Stafford-Grady.

According to Blair, this year is going to be an opportunity for many businesses to leverage the State Fair and get their business to the next “Ilevel.think the State Fair attendance will be at a record number because many people haven’t been out regularly in the last two years. People are eager to get back to life. There will be a huge demand for a lot of vendors. If you haven’t had a corny dog in two years, imagine how happy you will be to see Fletchers and how happy Fletchers will be to see you,” said Blair, who is a graduate of Prairie View. “The State Fair Classic has always been a tradition for my family and me and probably for many Black people in the state. If you are Black and, in this state, someone in your family went to an HBCU.”

“Since 1985 Grambling and Prairie View have been a great match up. This combination is a great tradition not only for the schools and their fans but really for the entire community,” continued Glieber.

“The State Fair Classic is a significant event for the city, but it also has a great tradition for the State Fair of Texas, and it is something that we have been proud to host since 1925,” said Glieber. The original State Fair Classic game was held on October 19, 1925, in the Cotton Bowl between the Wiley College Wildcats and the Langston University Lions with about 5,000 in Accordingattendance.to

“Black-owned businesses want to see hungry folk. The Texas State Fair hosts one of the biggest selections of fried foods that you can find anywhere in the world. When you start looking at different vendors that will be at the State Fair this year, at least 10 of the vendors that we work with on a regular basis will be represented,” said Blair.

Although gathering large crowds of people can create a high-security risk environment, Glieber contends that the State Fair is taking the necessary steps to ensure everyone is “Wesafeare fortunate to have an excellent relationship with the Dallas Police Department. They provide our primary on-ground security for the entire fair,” he explained.

It’s important that the associations between preventable risk factors and cancer is finally getting the coverage it deserves, says Suneel Kamath, MD, a medical oncologist at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, who was not involved in this study. “Technically, smoking is still the biggest cause of cancer and cancer-related death in the United States, but since that has been so well described, I think highlighting obesity and overweight is even more important,” he says.

Nearly Half of All Cancer Deaths Around the World Could Be Prevented Smoking, drinking too much alcohol, and excess weight are leading causes of preventable cancer deaths, according to new global study.

By Becky Upham

A new, first-of-its-kind global study found that nearly 1 in 2 cancer deaths — an estimated 4.45 million a year — can be attributed to preventable risk factors, with smoking, high body mass index (BMI), and drinking too much alcohol topping the list. Although cancer is the second leading cause of death worldwide (after heart disease) this is the first study to look at a multitude of factors on a global level, according to the authors. The findings were published on August 20 in The “ThisLancet.study illustrates that the burden of cancer remains an important public health challenge that is growing in magnitude around the world. Smoking continues to be the leading risk factor for cancer globally, with other substantial contributors to cancer burden varying,” said Christopher Murray, MD, DPhil, co-senior author and IHME director, in a statement.

Cancer Deaths Due to Preventable Risk Factors Higher in Wealthier Countries In 2019, risk-attributable cancer deaths globally occurred disproportionately in wealthier countries — these countries had 26.5 percent of the cancer deaths although they accounted for 13.1 percent of the global population. The five regions with the greatest cancer death rates due to risk factors were Central Europe, East Asia, high-income North America, Southern Latin America, and Western Europe.
