You’ll never be forgotten Dad, and now your birthday’s here. We will place some flowers where you lay. And shed more than a tear. We will whisper Happy Birthday Dad and ask the Lord above to kiss you gently on the cheek and give you our love.
Six years gone, seems like a lifetime. We miss you so much we wish you were here.

About Do Right By the Streets (DRBTS)
DALLAS – November 7, 2022
— The Sunny South Dallas Food Park, formerly known as the MLK Food Park, will continue its placemaking and community engagement series inside the Grand Place at Fair Park, starting November 13 from noon until 4:00 p.m. The Sunny South Dallas Food Park explicitly represents the South Dallas community and pays homage to its affectionate nickname, Sunny South Dallas.
The event is free and open to the public. It will offer various food and beverage options from blackowned food trucks and trailers, both vegan and non-vegan. Patrons can purchase handmade and crafted goods, support local community organizations, enjoy live music and entertainment, kid-friendly programming, and participate in book signings with local authors. Radio personality Lil D from K104 FM will host the event.
"The MLK Food Park began as a temporary pop-up park collaboration between TREC (Texas Real Estate Council), Better Block, and DRBTS (Do Right by the Streets), formerly blckspces,” said Desiree Powell, Founder and Urban Planner of DRBTS. “The shared goal was to bring South Dallas residents together to gather in fellowship,

• Sunday, May 21, from Noon to 4 pm
• Sunday, June 18, from Noon to 4 pm
• Sunday, July 30, from Noon to 4 pm
"The Sunny South Dallas Food Park is an essential part of continuing to build relationships and incubating the spirit of Ubuntu amongst our neighbors,” said Anita Crethers, Community Engagement Manager for Fair Park First. “Just from growing up in South Dallas, this is close to my heart to provide this type of programming to my part of the city."
"With the new Community Park project on the horizon, Fair Park continues to seek partnerships that support our community, expand our uses, and provide new connections and opportunities here on the sunny side of Dallas,” said Alyssa Arnold, Director of Strategic Initiatives for Fair Park First. “DRBTS partnered with Fair Park First to utilize the green space and existing infrastructure within the park to welcome the South Dallas community to the campus. We are beaming with excitement to continue the partnership and the work to make Fair Park and the Community Park a home for programs like the aptly named

JARVIS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY RANKED #20
AMONG TOP 25 HIDDEN GEMS IN TEXAS
undergraduate and graduate degree programs since 2018. Completely independent and unbiased, OSG is working to be the ultimate resource for new high school graduates, working adults returning to school, and all sorts of nontraditional students.
(Hawkins, Texas)—Jarvis Christian University was ranked #20 among the top 25 Hidden Gems in the Online Schools Guide recent ranking of schools in Texas. Jarvis Ranked #20 ranked ahead of Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth and East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas.
“Jarvis Christian University was the only Historically Black College or University to be included in this ranking,” said Jarvis President Dr. Lester C. Newman. “As the only HBCU among the list, I am pleased to be recognized. Our online programs are providing an affordable option for students to fulfill their career aspirations and dreams for the future.”
According to the ranking organization website, JCU “supports online students through financial assistance and opportunities to shorten time needed for degree completion. Degrees offered online include bachelor and master’s program in criminal justice and business administration with more programs planned for the future.”
Online Schools Guide has been providing advice, resources, and rankings on the best online
Among the list of “Hidden Gems” are Sul Ross State, Hallmark University, Dallas Baptist University, University of St. Thomas, Abilene Christian University, University of Dallas, Hardin-Simmons University, University of Mary Hardin Baylor and McMurry University.
The ranking organization said its editors found smaller schools in Texas with excellent academic reputations that offered online degree programs and ranked them based on the cost of attendance and the number of online offerings.
“Having a college degree can be the first step to a career that makes a difference, allowing students to make the most out of the mentorship and networking opportunities a great program provides,” the website stated.
“Hidden Gems in Texas are small colleges and universities where students thrive,” it said. “These schools have a low student-to-faculty ratio, so students get more direct attention from the professors who teach the courses. And overall, students get a more personal education and feel like a part of the community.”

November 25 –December 31, 2022 (CONTINUED)
Breaking: The Brooklyn Nets have named Jacque Vaughn as their head coach, the team announced.
So former NFL all-pro Jeff Saturday was just hired as the interim coach for the Indianapolis Colts. He’s NEVER coached in the NFL.He’s NEVER coached in college. His last coaching job was in high school. If this isn’t a slap in the face to all the super qualified black (and white) coaches out there then I don’t know what is. Especially in a league that has SUPPOSEDLY made it a priority to hire more minority coaches. But Colts owner Jim Irsay says:
“Certain people just have it. They have it. And you see it when you know it.”
“He’s a better fit. He’s the best man for the job, and there’s no question about it in my mind.”
