JPMorgan Chase & Co. to Serve as Diamond Sponsor Of St. Philip’s School and Community Center’s 23rd Annual Destiny Award Luncheon Featuring Sterling K. Brown
(DALLAS, TX – January 18, 2023) – JPMorgan Chase & Co. will present St. Philip’s upcoming 23rd Annual Destiny Award Luncheon: Illuminating Art, Education, and Service, featuring Emmy and Golden Globe Winner, Sterling K. Brown, on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Hilton Anatole. “We are thrilled to serve as title sponsor for St. Philip’s Destiny Award Luncheon this March and over the next two years,” said Pete Chilian, Managing Director with J.P. Morgan Private Bank, and chair of last year’s milestone luncheon that raised over $1M for St. Philip’s, a first for the dynamic South Dallas institution. “2023 also marks thirty years of JPMorgan Chase’s engagement with St. Philip’s. We are proud to play a role in supporting the school and community center in the important work they do throughout Southern Dallas and the Metroplex as a school, community center, and neighborhood change agent.”

The luncheon, co-chaired by Kacy and Carter Tolleson, will feature an award presentation to this year’s Mona and David Munson Humanitarian Awardees, area faith-based philanthropists, Ellen and John McStay, performances by St. Philip’s students, tributes by alumni, and a dynamic moderated conversation with Parrish Family Destiny Speaker, Sterling K. Brown and Bruce DuBose, cofounder and Producing Artistic Director of Undermain Theater. The Student Showcase will begin at 10:30AM, immediately followed by the luncheon at 11:30AM.
Brown, best known for his role as “Randall” in NBC’s critically acclaimed drama series THIS IS US for which he has received several nominations and an Emmy award, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Drama from Stanford University, before receiving his master's degree in Fine Arts from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. His dedication to the craft is represented in the nominations and awards won from the Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, American Black Film Festival, BET Awards, NAACP Image Awards, Critic’s Choice Television Awards, and the list continues. In 2018, Sterling K. Brown created Indian Meadows Productions under a pact with 20th Century Fox Television.
The Destiny Luncheon serves as St. Philip’s signature fundraising event and has featured many notable scholars, athletes, and celebrities as keynote speakers in moderated conversations, including Viola Davis, the late Cicely Tyson, Henry Louis Gates, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Alex Rodriguez, and most recently, Shaquille O’Neal. The event has raised over $5Million to support St. Philip’s vital educational and social service programs. The Destiny Award has been granted to 60 local organizations and individuals for their leadership and work bridging relationships between diverse communities.
St. Philip’s long-time supporters and former co-chairs of the organization’s transformative We Believe Campaign, Diana and Todd Maclin, will serve as Honorary Chairs of the 23rd Annual Destiny Award Luncheon. Community volunteers, Brandi Chilian and Kacy Tolleson, will lead the Host Committee, while Kevin Muskat, a partner in Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services practice, is Corporate Underwriting Chair.
All funds raised from the luncheon will directly benefit services promoting Christian education, senior services, hunger, and youth engagement.
