A source close to City government said that officials first heard that the Brown-Patrick had relocated after receiving a phone call from a person who said that they knew about and had information about the location of the move, which was not in the council member’s district.
The source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the Council considered the situation in executive session; therefore, the public did not have access either in person or by logging on the Desototexas. gov website or the Government Access Channel 16 on Time Warner and Channel 99 on AT&T Uverse.
However the vote to accept Brown-Patrick’s resignation was approved unanimously.
Brown-Patrick received the Certified Municipal Officer designation from the Texas Municipal League. This designation, held by less than 100 other Texas elected officials, is awarded to officials who have displayed a commitment to expanding their knowledge about their governance roles and city government through a variety of educational opportunities.
An active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., which recently served its 110th anniversary, Brown-Patrick is the Founder and Executive Director of We the Village, a 501(c) (3) organization that supports children with incarcerated parents and their caregivers.
the property.
Some of the concerns identified by South Dallas residents included: the auction sale was made without community involvement, the community is being dictated to and not partnered with, coordination meetings with the new owners have no substantive content, the $211,000 sale price is suspiciously low for 9.8 acres of land and a 190,000 sq ft building, and DISD appears to have made some administrative irregularities in completing a single bidder auction.
In a statement released Wednesday, DeSoto City Manager told City employees that Council Member Kay Brown-Patrick had resigned.
“Please be aware that Council Member Kay Brown-Patrick resigned her seat on the City Council at last night’s meeting. The City Council is intending to appoint someone to fill the remaining term for Place 2, which is up for election in May,” the statement read.
Councilmembers met Tuesday to
address a whistleblower’s claims that Councilwoman BrownPatrick no longer resides in the district in which she was elected to serve and during the meeting she tendered her resignation.
When the Council came out of executive session, Councilmember Brown-Patrick addressed the Council:
“In considering the executive session that we came out of I wanted to let the public know I am choosing to resign my seat from Place 2 for the sake of my council members and public trust. I do want to state clearly that I still currently do reside in Place 2. I have submitted documentation and statements.”
She further stated that the perception and scrutiny of a “recent purchase” figured in her decision and she added support for her fellow councilmembers who she did not want the situation to have a negative impact on.
Mayor Rachel Proctor thanked Brown-Patrick for her service and informed everyone that the vacated seat would be addressed.
Brown-Patrick was elected to DeSoto City Council November 2018 in a special election to serve an unexpired term for Place 2 and she was re-elected in November 2020.
Prior to being elected, she served as a Board member on Keep DeSoto Beautiful and also worked with the Code Enforcement Department in their Eyes and Ears Program.
According to her website, she earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Public Administration degrees from The University of North Texas. She is also a graduate of the Oklahoma University's Economic Development Institute, a prestigious program that is required in order to obtain a Certified Economic Developer Certification, the leading designation in the industry.

The Pearl C. Anderson Property Missed Opportunity
While the authenticity of suspicions and concerns that South Dallas residents have regarding Watermark’s future intentions regarding the Anderson property is debated some attention needs to be directed to the negative impact of the black community’s missed opportunity.
Prime property is an asset that appreciates in value. Yet the black community let 9 acres and a 190,000 sq ft structure slip through the crack because it couldn’t or wouldn’t come up with $200,000. Shame, Shame, Shame.
A recent report in the Dallas Morning News highlighted concerns that local South Dallas residents and community leaders expressed to the new owners of the former Pearl C. Anderson Middle School during a joint meeting at Exline Recreation Center.
Watermark Community Church, a mega-church based in North Dallas, purchased the Anderson property through a DISD auction in 2019 and is currently using the facility as a satellite church campus while planning to rezone
Mrs. Pearl C. Anderson was an influential civic leader and philanthropist whose 1955 donation of a Downtown Dallas property valued at $350,000 to a charitable trust is now worth many millions and continues to grow. Proceeds from the trust donation were instrumental in financing the Pearl C. Anderson School that opened in 1963.
Have the history lessons of the land grabs perpetuated on blacks in places such as Fair Park, Little Elm, Little Egypt, or Love Field been forgotten? The intricacies of eminent domain was lorded over blacks whenever the white establishment decided to use

You've heard of fried chicken, naturally. Chances are you love it; there's just no other way to make the best savory, juicy chicken. But what if you could make fried chicken without the frying? Unfried Chicken is a simple shake-and-bake recipe with an enormous punch of flavor, as each piece of chicken is coated in tangy ranch dressing and extra-crispy seasoning before being baked to tenderon-the-inside, crunchy-on-theoutside perfection. You'll swear it's fried even as you see it come out of your own oven. Unfried Chicken casts a spell on your tastebuds that you'll be enchanted by forever.
Ingredients
• 1 (4-pound) whole chicken, cut up
• 1/2 cup ranch dressing
• 1 (2.5-ounce) packet extracrispy seasoned coating mix
Directions
Step 1Discard the skin from all of the chicken except for the wings.
Step 2Place the chicken pieces into a large resealable plastic bag.
Step 3Add the dressing to the chicken.
Step 4Seal the bag and turn the chicken to evenly coat it.
Step 7Place the extra-crispy seasoned coating mix in a shallow dish.
Step 8Dip the marinated chicken in the coating, turning to evenly coat all

that are attuned to maximizing the wealth/power equation?
It is easy to understand how a financial opportunity that requires millions of dollars might be prohibitive but there is no excuse for not being able to finance a $200,000 project.
black land for white purposes. Blacks were ignorant to the nuances of this legal concept in the early days of the civil rights movement and were usually taken advantage of.
Land becomes a valuable commodity as populations grow or needs change. Land is one of the best wealth accumulation vehicles since it is in finite supply. Yet in the black quest for wealth equality blacks seem to be hesitant to the land acquisition process instead of aggressive.
Where were the black city, county, or DISD officials when the Anderson property was being administratively prepared for the auction block? Is there no communication link to any black religious, civic, professional, or fraternal organizations with goals
Pastor Donald Parish of True Lee Missionary Baptist Church stated that now is the time for Watermark to reach out. "We know the community. Let's get some community involvement, community input. You (Watermark) have the resources. We have the experience. Let's see if we can't work together."
Even if Watermark creates the most beneficial project as a result of it’s rezoning decisions South Dallas residents will pay money for using the refurbished Anderson property instead of collecting instant profits and future appreciation.
Thus, the net result of the Anderson Property missed opportunity to the black community is negative wealth accumulation and prolonged economic disparity.

Prosecutors can no longer make a case against Lucky, they wrote in a dismissal filed last week.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office dismissed a capital murder case against a man once accused of shooting Dallas basketball standout Andre Emmett.
Michael Lucky was thought to be Emmett’s killer when he was indicted for the Sept. 23, 2019, slaying, prosecutors wrote in court documents.
But in September, prosecutors told jurors Larry Jenkins was the shooter in a planned robbery involving Lucky and another man, Keith Johnson. Jenkins was convicted of capital murder and State District Judge Chika Anyiam sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of
“After a review of the evidence in this case and in light of the fact that Larry Jenkins was convicted for the role previously thought to have been attributed to Michael Lucky, the State is unable to present a … case at this time for the capital murder for Michael Lucky,” says the document signed by District Attorney John Creuzot.
Lucky’s lawyer, Scottie Allen, said he was relieved. Lucky always maintained he wasn’t part of the fatal robbery.
“We were telling everybody who would listen that he wasn’t involved in the killing of that young man,” Allen said.

Regina Oliver, Emmett’s mother, said he was a loving father passionate about giving back to his community. She could not be reached for comment Thursday.
Home surveillance video played during Jenkins’ trial showed Emmett drove into his garage moments before he was approached by attackers and told to surrender two chains and a watch. Emmett handed over his jewelry before running away. One of the attackers followed Emmett and shot him before the group fled.
Dallas police released the video shortly after the killing in hopes tips would lead to the attackers. Johnson and Lucky were arrested about a month later. Jenkins was arrested a year later. Dallas Detective Scott Sayers testified Johnson, Lucky and Jenkins were always suspects.

People’s Report:
DEATH OF A THOUSAND CUTS
by Leon Prather, The Progressive Watchman
Death of a thousand cuts is a form of torture and execution originating from Imperial China; and often seen in kung fu movies, it is referred to as the slow process, the lingering death, or slow slicing. You may know society is doomed when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing; they only consume which is our government, when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors; when you see that men get richer by graft and your laws
don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you; and when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty not, yet we vote for a UNI-PARTY SYSTEM, DISGUISED AS A TWO PARTY SYSTEM OF EITHER BIENG DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN, and their whole goal is to expand the centralized system and line their pockets at the peeps expense and the whole world’s expense; something is drastically wrong. One of the thousand cuts ways is by exporting a strong US Dollar the reserve currency of the world. Let me explain the US Dollar index. The US Dollar index (USDX) is a relative measure of U.S. dollars (USD) strength against a basket of six influential currencies, including the Euro, Pound, Yen, Canadian Dollar, Swedish Korner, and Swiss Franc. Think about what is going on in those countries and where are they mostly located? Europe and Japan! Where are the Russian sanctions doing the most damage? In Europe , UK and Japan. In those places the economies are the pits. Money flows from those places keeps moving into hard USA
With sanctions affecting those countries and I laid a 100 year logarithmic chart over the US Dollar Index, including those currencies you would see a straight consistent downward slope; however, the U.S. dollar is strong in comparison to other currencies; but only because their purchasing power is falling faster than the U.S. dollar’s in a race to the bottom. I expect to see the Euro possibly loosing 25% in value this year while the USA dollar strengthens, however, we have other alternative contenders wanting to dethrone the USA dollar. This is why I reference that the United States is the finest girl at the dance and she is the only one that the boyz want to dance with because all the other girls are ugly and this is why we the United States carry the big stick and the money flow is coming here to the USA because its ugly as hell everywhere else in the world in an interconnected world. We also need to know all transactions for worldwide goods and services are priced in US Dollars: AND WE GET A CUT OF EVERY TRANSACTION IN THE WORLD KINDA LIKE USING YOUR VISA OR MASTERCARD. This is why Jesus turned over the money

changers/Banksters tables and called the place the Robbers’ Den. It’s awfully funny after that the Banksters/Money Changers said IMMEDIATELY He had to go and then I’ll add in BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. Please excuse my analogy! See there is truth in my analogy across all spectrums, but most peeps can’t handle the truth and believe in a lie.
Back to the chart. In the financial arena charts are used for decision making. All the chart is in simple terms is the highs and lows of a daily, weekly or yearly closing prices of anything when plotted out gives a visual trend which is history. That’s where the term called ‘the trend is your friend’, therefore you can make an educated guess based upon a chart because it’s all math, history and physics. When you hear talk of a “strong U.S. dollar,” don’t be fooled. The U.S. dollar is only strong in comparison to other rapidlydepreciating currencies. This is why President Biden and others before him gets to call shots along with our strong military, however, the BRIC Nations mainly the Russia, India, China along with Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia the other oil producing countries in that region along with African Bloc where 2/3 of the worlds’ population lives and Gross domestic product (GDP) off the chain is challenging the hegemony of the USA and this is the real reason for the worldwide sanctions against Russia and
the USA messing with China. IT’S ABOUT THE MONEY! POWER AND CONTROL!!!
This bloc is introducing another financial system which is backed by physical assets mainly gold, silver and commodities which those countries have an abundance of. They are also some main users of Decentralized Crypto to skate around the USA Dollar and influence and it’s also why the SEC is Messing with XRP; because they XRP uses a new MONEY CHANGING ON DEMAND LIQUIDITY system that runs on the decentralized Blockchain which is a new paradigm shift that is taking hold based upon the development in the space.
With those other world currencies dying a ‘death of a thousand cuts’ the USA cartel days is numbered because of the gross mismanagement in the economies of the world. There’s also a real chance that Saudi Arabia starts selling their oil on the new Shanghai Exchange further denting the USA’s petrodollar influence. We can thank President Biden for calling them a Pariah State which means scum of the earth. They have already rejected him 3 times. Then add in the Pusherman Powell trying to break the Sons of Perditions back financially in a ‘clash of titans’. Death of a thousand cuts inside of the Cat 7 Cyclone is a slow death but in this case death can come rapidly and painfully because of the Category 7 Cyclone.
The governments of the world will introduce a CBDC which they think is the answer which they think will stop one of the main cuts. Let me pose this question do you want the CBDC to steal your money slowly over time or all at once? LOL!!! The governments run by the Sons of Perdition around the world
are betting on ‘all at once’. This is why those whose ears and eyes of their understanding has been enlightened will move away centralization. And will counterpunch in the decentralized arena.

DALLAS (AP) — A 14-yearold girl fatally shot an 11-yearold boy at a Dallas apartment complex parking lot after retrieving a gun during an argument with another child, police said.
Police said that the 14-year-old shot in the direction of the girl she was fighting with, but the shot ended up striking the 11-year-old bystander on Sunday afternoon.
“Everyone involved are juveniles and this is just a horrible incident,” police Sgt. Warren Mitchell said.
The 11-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police say the 14-year-old ran from the scene of the shooting and was later taken into custody at a nearby apartment complex. Police said the 14-year-old is being held at a juvenile justice center and is expected to be charged with murder.
The weapon was recovered, according to police, who continue to investigate.
More Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease – an estimated 6.5 million Americans. Older Black Americans are twice as likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than White Americans. Black Americans are less likely to receive a diagnosis. Further, when they are diagnosed, it is typically in the later stages of the disease, when their medical needs are greater.
To help raise awareness of the impact of Alzheimer’s on Black American communities, Gdavis Productions and Films, LLC and the Alzheimer’s Association have joined together to create a new stage play titled, Unforgettable, which is coming to The Black Academy of Arts and Letters in Dallas on February 18, 2023.
You can reserve your free tickets at www. unforgettableplay.com. This dynamic and unique stage play shines a spotlight on how one family navigates this devastating disease while caring for a loved one living with Alzheimer’s. The story will showcase the emotional toll on families, while emphasizing the importance of early detection and treatment and the benefits of clinical trial participation.
If you need assistance today, the Alzheimer’s Association offers free 45-minute online e-Learning classes. With over 20 topics to choose from, there is something for everyone. Perhaps you are a caregiver seeking to
increase your caregiving skills and confidence, or a friend wanting to understand how to support a neighbor living with the disease, or a life-long learner looking to expand your personal knowledge. You might even be an educator seeking opportunities for your students to earn extra credit outside the classroom. Each course provides a personal certificate of completion that may be downloaded. By increasing community awareness about brain health, we might help to shift mindsets and reduce stigmas and myths surrounding this disease. Check out our complete catalog of classes at alz.org/training, or for more information call the 24/7 Helpline at 800.272.3900.
What Your Lawyer Needs from You with Miles D. Peterson
When you hire a lawyer, it’s because you need them to use their expertise to navigate the law in order to accomplish your goals. However, in order to do their job properly, your attorney has needs of you as well. This week we’ll talk about what a few of those needs are, and why they are so important for the success of your case.
The most important thing that I need from my clients is their trust and honesty. I tell each of my clients that there are two people that you need to be completely honest with, your attorney and your doctor. Without trust and honesty, I cannot adequately do my job. If

there are bad facts in your case, I need to know them so that I can properly prepare to defend against them. You don’t want the first time your attorney hears about your assault charge to be in the middle of a trial. During your consultation tell your attorney all of the facts both the good and the bad. We’re here to help you, not judge you.
Next is your responsiveness. Your attorney will reach out to you for various reasons. Sometimes it is merely to update you on the status of your case, but other times it is because something important is needed. If you receive an email asking for documents, your signature, or questions pertaining to your case; you need to respond appropriately as soon as you

are able. There are times where a case can come to a standstill because a client has gone MIA when something is needed from them.
On the other hand, your attorney also needs space to properly work on your case. If you are calling them every hour on the hour, they won’t have the time they need to do the work necessary for your case. As mentioned above you will need to trust that they are working hard in your favor, even when they are not talking you through each step.
Finally, sometimes your attorney just needs you to listen to their advice. For example, if you attorney advises you to stop communicating with the opposing party in writing, please listen to them. They are not trying to control you; they are trying to keep you from giving the other side evidence to use against you.

33-year-old woman in Texas has been missing for over a week and police have now found a body near her boyfriend's house.
Ocastor Ferguson was put behind bars last week on suspicion of kidnapping Kayla Kelley. The unidentified body of a woman was later discovered minutes away from Ferguson's residence, WFAA reported.
Kelley had been dating Ferguson for around six months, but the latter was using a different name, Kevin. When Kelley recently learned about her boyfriend’s real identity and that he was married, she reportedly threatened to expose him, NBC DFW reported citing the arrest affidavit.
After examining Ferguson’s phone records, cops found out he was at work on Jan.10 and then left for his home in Grand Prairie. He then reportedly drove to Kelley’s duplex and to the area where her burned car was located before returning home.

Hands-Only CPR Increases the Chance of Survival in Someone Having Cardiac Arrest
By Linda Thrasybule
While most Americans feel ill equipped to perform CPR during an emergency, experts say you’re better off doing it than not. Find out how you can save a life.
mouth-to-mouth, the most important thing is to perform chest compressions,” says Jose Torradas, MD, an emergency physician at St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, and an American College of Emergency Physicians spokesperson. “Chest compressions move the oxygen in the blood to the brain, and that’s what matters most.”
On average it takes about six to nine minutes for EMS to arrive, says Dr. Torradas, which often isn’t soon enough to save a life.
“During cardiac arrest, brain cells get injured the moment they don’t get oxygen, so after 5 to 10 minutes, the chances of survival are slim to none.”
thing. A heart attack is caused by the blockage of blood flow to the heart. Unlike cardiac arrest, in which a person is unresponsive and loses consciousness, a person having a heart attack is usually able to talk and breathe.
People who have heart disease are at higher risk for cardiac arrest. But it can happen to people who appear healthy, too.
About 9 out of 10 people who have cardiac arrest outside a hospital setting don’t survive it, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Since about 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital each year, that means hundreds of thousands of people can die from the condition annually, according to the AHA.
the bloodstream and to the brain. “Every second counts,” he says.
If you do perform CPR and the person starts to breathe again, Torradas recommends laying the person on their side, also called a recovery position, and wait with them for EMS.
How to Perform Hands-Only CPR
Hands-only CPR involves pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest at the rate of 100 to 120 pushes per minute. One easy way to do this is to time your pushes to the beat of songs like Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love,” Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance,” or “Staying Alive,” by the Bee Gees. There’s even a "Songs to do CPR to" playlist on Spotify.
During cardiac arrest, a person is unresponsive. It's crucial to keep blood moving to the brain. Malte Mueller/Getty Images
Would you know what to do if someone went into cardiac arrest? Many people don’t, according to a 2019 national poll from the American College of Emergency Physicians. Most adults are either completely unprepared or lack the confidence to help if a medical emergency occurs.
While poll participants were confident in their ability to help someone in a non-life-threatening emergency, like fainting, 41 percent felt unprepared to administer hands-only CPR, a technique that can double or even triple a cardiac arrest victim’s chance of survival, according to the American Heart Association (AHA).
“With or without giving
Research shows that handsonly CPR can help save a life. According to a large Swedish study published in April 2019 in the journal Circulation, handsonly CPR doubled a person's odds of surviving at least 30 days after cardiac arrest.
“People think they might hurt someone [when performing chest compressions], but actually you’re much better off performing CPR on someone who doesn’t need it than not performing it on someone who needs it,” says Charles Pozner, MD, an emergency physician and an associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School's department of emergency medicine in Boston.
What Happens During Cardiac Arrest?
Cardiac arrest is an abrupt loss of heart function that occurs when the heart’s electrical system malfunctions. Although a heart attack is often mistaken for cardiac arrest, it is not the same
Cardiac arrest is often fatal without taking immediate steps like administering CPR or using a defibrillator. Unfortunately, only 46 percent of people who experience cardiac arrest get the immediate help they need before professional help arrives, reports the AHA.
How Do You Know if Someone Is Experiencing Cardiac Arrest?
If you suspect someone is suffering from cardiac arrest, first try to rouse the person by tapping them and shouting. If they are unresponsive, yell for someone to call 911. If you’re alone, make the call yourself. Then check for a pulse and see if the person is breathing.
If they aren’t breathing or are having trouble breathing, such as gasping for air, you should begin chest compressions until help arrives. When someone on the street collapses, it's likely they’ll have oxygen in their blood and their lungs, notes Dr. Pozner. In other words, chest compressions can move the blood and whatever oxygen is there through
