Foster Carers are the lifeblood of Eastern Fostering Services

Everymonth, as a team, we identify and celebrate the successes of our foster carers. We know that foster carers face challenges and that it is important to receive some recognition and thanks.

Foster carer shortages are deepening in England with one in eight fostering households having quit, and more leaving than joining, over the past year. Severe shortage of foster carers is catastrophic for local children.

There has been a UK-wide shortage of foster carers for years. 2023 is no different, however the situation is exacerbated by an increase in children coming into foster care.

A lack of foster carers means that children who need to stay local often cannot; this is having a devastating effect on children across the UK.

“We need a diverse pool of foster carers, so that we can match children according to their needs, including the need to stay local,” says Lucy Stevens, Head of Recruitment at Eastern Fostering Services. “Children need well-thoughtout, well-matched fostering families to thrive.”

People considering fostering should have a spare bedroom available and can contact team@ easternfosteringservices. com or 01206 299775.
